NSTP 2

This document discusses violence against women and children (VAWC) and proposes ways to help address these issues in the community. It identifies two common misconceptions about abusive relationships and how to dispel them through education. It also discusses how participating in seminars and symposiums can help the author be better prepared to assist victims of violence and know where to direct them for legal help. Finally, it notes that trafficking is difficult to solve because victims may be unwilling to report it due to fears, but that establishing counseling programs could help victims recover by providing support and hope to make positive changes.

NSTP 2- Activity 4 (Respect begets Respect)

1. Give two misconceptions about violence on women and their children. How would you
break these false beliefs?

 Women can easily leave from abusive relationships.

 People should stay out or should not meddle even if there is a violence that is
happening because those are family problems.
I will break these false beliefs by educating people that women can't easily leave their
abusive partners because of many circumstances like threatening, fear of not getting
support from their partners or fear that their partners might kill them and I will also
make them understand that violence is not just a family problem it is a societal problem
so they have the right to meddle on abusive relationships not only to protect women
but also to protect the children from trauma and pain. It will never be okay to let
abusive people ruin the lives of women and innocent children, they don't have the right
to hurt them, people that are experiencing violence needs immediate help and we
should make a move before it's too late.

2. In your capacity as a concerned citizen, how do you help end VAWC cases in your
community?

- I will help by participating on seminars or symposiums regarding VAWC, it is important for me

to be well educated about this matter so that I will know what to do in case I encounter
violence in the community, I know that being educated will give me more capability to help and
save women and children from abusive people, I will be able to know the people where we
should seek legal help in order to give the victims the protection that they badly need. Violence
is a very alarming thing and I will not stay quiet about it.

3. Why is trafficking in persons difficult to solve? If you were a councilor in your town, what
project could you propose to help trafficking victims recover?

- Trafficking is difficult to solve because sometimes people are doing it willingly in order to earn
money and victims are afraid to talk or report it to the authorities because of their fear, human
traffickers can post what they do in social media or might kill or physically abuse them. If I were
a counselor I want to propose a counseling for the victims because with this I will be able to let
them know that regardless of their past, they are still worthy to be loved and respected and
that there are still many good reasons to go on with their lives, with their experiences, the
lessons that comes with it will be their greatest weapon to continue and become better, they
can actually make a change, raise awareness in order to protect other people and most
importantly they can serve as a great inspiration that may change and create an impact to the
lives of others.
