Before installing, please check the following items in product package.

• 1 x Omni RP-SMA antenna for R36A signal transmission

LED indicator Descrip�ons

Device Overview - Interfaces
PWR On - Power on.
(Blue) Off - No power.

SYS On - Error condi�on.

(Blue) Off - Normal opera�on.
ANT WAN / LAN2 PoE LAN1 PWR Blinking - This LED blinks during start up.

LAN On - LAN port is connected.

Front Panel Rear Panel (Blue) Off - No connec�on on the LAN port.

WAN / LAN2 In Broadband Router mode: WAN / USB On - USB modem or wireless adapter connec�on to R36A USB port is established.
This port is set as WAN to be connect with Ethernet port on the DSL/cable modem (Blue) Off - No connec�on to the R36A USB port
for PPPoE /Dynamic IP/Sta�c IP/PPTP/L2TP IP address alloca�on
WAN / LAN2 On - Connec�on to the modem a�ached to LAN2 port is established.
In 3G/4G Router mode:
(Blue) Off - No connec�on to WAN (Internet) port
This port is set as LAN to share Internet access via Ethernet connec�on to the Flashing - Data is being transmi�ed or received via the WAN port.

Preparation Before Installation How to Start R36A Device Configurations

Before setting up R36A, please check with your service provider to obtain an instruction Via wired connection

Connect computer to R36A LAN1 port via Ethernet RJ-45 cable.
Info you will need from ISP (Internet Service Provider) company for Internet access:
Open your web browser, and type-in “r36a.myalfasetup.com” or
xDSL PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP “192.168.36.1” in the address bar.

R36A supports popular Internet access types:

How to Start R36A Device Configurations Operation Mode Selection

Via QR code connection With built-in web-based configurator, it is easy to setup and manage R36A.
R36A web configurator works with Windows, Macintosh or UNIX OS computer with a

If there is no QR code scanner/reader in your smart phone, please search
free "QR reader" on the Apple App Store or Android Play Store, and install it access

Install an ALFA USB wireless adapter to extend remote WiFi hotspot Internet access
R36A default parameters :
Default Device Access : r36a.myalfasetup.com or 192.168.36.1 • USB 3G/4G Router

Default Wireless Encryption : None
Internet access

If password lost or forgotten, while device is ON, press RESET button in the
bottom for 10 seconds then release. Ethernet Router Mode
Wait for one minute, device will reboot with default settings and please
repeat the log-in process to setup new password.
Being an Ethernet router, R36A supports xDSL PPPoE, fixed IP,dynamic IP, PPTP,
L2TP Internet access.
Be sure to connect modem LAN port to WAN port on R36A, and the WAN LED
Start R36A Device Configurations should be ON. before setting up R36A.

When device portal page is connected, to ensure security of device access,

please setup device management password, and click “ Submit ”.

Please refer to the instruction sheet from ISP, select appropriate connection type,
input the connection parameters (IP address, dialup username/password, server
info ...etc.) to establish the Internet connection, and apply the settings to establish
Please setup password when using device for the very first time.
Device login password here is not the password for WiFi access, please Internet access.

Wireless Hotspot Extender Router Mode

Local Wireless Network Configurations
Before proceeding any further, please connect an ALFA USB wireless adapter, R36A is able to share the Internet access wirelessly with local computers, smartphones,
and make sure the USB LED on R36A is “ON”. and other network peripherals.
After selecting wireless hotspot extender mode, device wizard will scan hotspot To establish a secure local wireless network, please input a “Network Name” (wireless
signal automatically. SSID) and network password for wireless security.
List of scanned hotspot stations will be displayed on the screen.
Find and select the target wireless hotspot, and input the hotspot password (if any).
Click FINISH to establish internet connection.

R36A Connection Status

Once the device setup is completed, device will activate the parameters
and the results will be shown in the status screen.

3G/4G Router Mode

Before proceeding any further, please connect an ALFA 3G/4G USB modem, and
make sure the USB LED on R36A is “ON”.

Please refer to the instruction sheet from ISP, input connection parameters (APN,
username, password ...etc. if any), to establish the Internet connection.

In 3G/4G router, and WiFi extender router mode, please install compatible
USB peripherals. Incompatible USB device will not be detected by R36A, Clicking on the “ Status ” on left control panel will refresh machine run-time
and following warning message will appear. status.
Please contact authroized ALFA Network dealer to obtain product
information of compatible device.
