Question # 1 (10):
A system of springs shown below is under the action of different force systems, by analyzing the
system, evaluate the following:
a) Develop the stiffness matrix of each spring, using stiffness matrix approach.
b) Find the Global Assemblage Matrix.
c) Calculate the Displacements at each interface between the materials called nodes.
d) Also Evaluate the reaction forces.

Consider a two-story building with steel columns; one column is
subjected to the loading shown in figure. Under axial loading
assumption and using linear elements, determine: The stiffness
matrix of each element, Assemblage matrix, Displacements and
Reactions. Data is as: A1 = A2 = 24.7 in2, and E1 = E2 = 29x106 psi.
