Standards for Construction of Electrical Plants and Electric Lines Regulations, 2010.
Sl.No Parameters to be Checked OK NOT OK Remarks, if any
A DESIGN UNITS
1 All Design units are as per Standard International (SI) Metric System
B DESIGN ASSUMPTIONS
D DESIGN LOADS
1 Design Loads are as per Project Design Basis /IS Codes
2 Dynamic loads are as Per Vendor Data for Heavy Rotating Equipment
3 Thermal loads are as per Project Design Basis
Load combinations for Allowable Stress Design are as per Project Design Basis ,
4 IS Codes
Load combinations for Ultimate Strength Design are as per Project Design
5 Basis , IS Codes
Each transformer pit shall be drained towards a sump pit whose role is to
3 recover the infiltrating water and the drained oil from the pit
The sump pit shall have sufficient capacity to receive without overflowing the
oil content of large transformers plus the water content of any fixed fire
4 fighting system and a certain quantity of rain water collected from the pit
connected to it.
Full water pressure from inside and no earth pressure, ground water pressure
& surcharge pressure from outside (application only to structures, which are
5 liable to be filled up with water or any other liquid).
Full earth pressure, surcharge pressure and ground water pressure from
6 outside and no water pressure from inside.
The retaining walls which make up the transformer pit shall be made of fire
7 resistant material such as reinforced cement concrete, fire brick etc and shall
be impervious to oil.
When designing the transformer pit, the movement of the transformer must be
8 taken into account.
Design shall also be checked against buoyancy due to the ground water during
construction and maintenance stages. Minimum factor of safety of 1.5 against
9 buoyancy shall be ensured ignoring the superimposed loadings
The design of reinforced concrete oil tank is based on IS 3370: 2009 (Parts I – IV)
10
The design and construction of RCC structures shall be carried out as per IS: 456
11 and minimum grade of concrete shall be M-25.
One more important clause is as per 7.2 a i.e. No relief shall be considered due
16 to soil pressure on wall.
The bottom is considered as resting on ground and hence the oil pressure
counteracts the upward soil pressure. The bottom slab is designed as grade slab
for Min steel as per IS 3370 assuming depth as 200 mm and reinforcement is
21 provided for D/2 depth as per the surface zone concept of 3370 for grounded
slabs.
Suitable measures are taken to prevent cracking of the concrete during the
22 construction period and until the tank is put into use.
It is desired to permit the walls to expand or contract separately from the floor.
27
28 To prevent moments at the base of the wall because of fixity to the floor.
When water tank constructed in ground or earth embanked against it, then
29 earth pressure shall be accounted in wall design.
The Index Sheet has been coordinated with the current list of
3 architectural drawings with respect to drawing number and title.
