Timer and Proctor for Google Forms:

Student Manual
Instructions
• Make sure you use a laptop/desktop with working camera and microphone and
a stable internet connection to appear for the exam.
• Student is not allowed to take any break during the entire examination
session.
• Sit in an appropriate position in front of the computer so that webcam can
cover your face at all times.
• Use of mobile phone while writing the exam is strictly prohibited.
• Click on the Link shared by the Course Instructor through Email from the
Course Specific Email ID.
• Start the exam within 15 Minutes from the scheduled time.
• In case any student is not able to start the exam latest by 11.15 A.M. he/she
will not be able to appear for the exam.
Instructions
• The Question Paper will be available as a Scanned Image in the Google Form.
• Note: Do not submit the Google Form till you have completed writing the exam.
• Fill the Basic Information on the Google Form and Start writing the exam on the
answer sheets. Students are advised to keep sufficient sheets with them during the
exam.
• Students have to use a blue pen and white A4 sheets to write the exam.
• Students have to make sure that each sheet is numbered and SID, Name, Course Code
and Date is mentioned on each sheet. Students are advised to complete this activity
before starting the exam.
• After Completing the Exam the Students have to Submit the Google Form.
• After submitting the Google Form, students are required to carefully scan each page
of their written answer sheets, make a single pdf file and the same has to be sent
through Email to the Course Specific Email ID from which the link was received.
Steps for Online Examination

• Before you take a test on AutoProctor, log out of all Google Accounts by clicking on
the link: https://accounts.google.com/Logout
• Then, log in with the Institute Google Account (@pec.edu.in).
• Do not use Incognito or Private mode.
• All the students are requested to install "Timer + Proctor" App "Add on" from Google
Workspace Marketplace.

• To check if AutoProctor works on your system, take the Demo Test.
• You should practice the demo test a number of times before taking the actual test so
that there should not be any error/mistake for taking the actual test.

Steps to Start the Exam

• Click on: Won't Stop Sharing

on them.
Prohibited Activities during Exam

• Tab-Switching: Students are not allowed to leave the exam. When a


student leaves the exam (either by going to a different tab on the
browser, or by going to a different app or application), the time is
recorded. The time when the user re-enters the exam is also
recorded. This amount of time spent away from the exam determines
the exam attempt’s Trust Score.
• Number of People: Exams on AutoProctor should be attempted by a
single person. So, a single (and the same) face has to be on the
screen at all times. Whenever AutoProctor detects either zero faces
via the camera, or detects 2 or more faces, the event gets flagged.
• Audio & Noise Levels: The device microphone is monitored. Online
exam must be taken in a quiet environment. So, if the microphone
detects a noise higher than a threshold level, this gets tracked.
• Photos at Random: The above three points are violations that a
student has possibly committed. A few photos are taken at random
throughout the test that can be reviewed later.
Steps to End the Exam

• After finishing the examination:


On AutoProctor, you have a Purple Submit Button at the
bottom, and a Green Button at the top.
Always click on the Purple Submit Button first, and then click
the Green Button. The Purple Button is shown as 1 in a red
circle in the image on the right.
If you do not click the Purple Submit button, all the
information you have entered will be lost! So, always click the
Purple Submit Button first.
After this, click the Green Submit Button at the top. If you do
not click this button, your teacher will not be able to see your
submission on AutoProctor.
The Green Submit button is shown as 2 in the image above.
Scanning and Submitting the Answer Sheets

• Carefully scan each page of their written answers (or drawn diagrams),
ensuring that each is in focus, contains the full page, and is legible.
• Various Mobile Applications that can be used to scan the answer sheets:
CamScanner, Microsoft Lens (formerly Microsoft Office Lens), Adobe
Scan.
• Scanned answer sheets should be stored as a single PDF file with the file
name as SID_Course_Code.pdf for e.g. 17205001_CSN101.pdf
• The scanned files have to be sent through Official Institute Email
(@pec.edu.in) to the Course Specific Email ID from which the link was
received.
• Extra 20 Minutes shall be given at the end of the exam to scan the
answer sheets and email them.
Process Recap
• Students have to use a Blue Pen and White A4 sheets to write the exam.
• Students have to make sure that each sheet is numbered and SID,
Name, Course Code and Date is mentioned on each sheet.
