PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Thank you for your interest in the Nursing program at Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC). The
Nursing program is both exciting and challenging; offering graduates the opportunities for employment
in a variety of settings and for a lifelong career that is personally fulfilling. The program demands may
pose unique personal as well as academic challenges. Most students have multiple responsibilities in
addition to going to school (i.e., marriage, family, job). Success in the program takes a firm
commitment, and the nursing faculty members are here to help you succeed. Nursing is a demanding
field and admission to nursing schools is a very competitive process. We strongly suggest you prepare
well by visiting with nurses in various settings, meeting with an advisor in order to help you with your
career plans, and by reading through the application materials thoroughly.

Information Meetings - Due to the volume of interest in the nursing program, the Nursing Program
director cannot meet with individual students seeking information about the program but holds monthly
information meetings to provide general information about the program, admission criteria and to
answer questions. Information regarding meeting times and dates of the information meetings can be
found at http://www.mhcc.edu/pages/1656.asp. All applicants are highly encouraged to attend one of
the hour-long sessions before seeking academic advising or applying for the program. MHCC’s
Academic Advising and Transfer Center can provide assistance with answering questions about the
program, providing an unofficial transcripts evaluation, and assistance in filling out the application
packet. If you need help completing the Prerequisite Course Planning Sheet, you may visit the Academic Advising and
Transfer Center and meet with an advisor. Students are served on a walk-in basis during regular office hours, 503-491-7315.

About the Program – The MHCC Nursing Program has joined with seven other community college
programs and all campuses of the Oregon Health & Science University in a unified approach to nursing
education. This coalition of statewide nursing educators and programs is known as the Oregon
Consortium for Nursing Education (OCNE). In addition to MHCC and OHSU; Umpqua Community
College, Southwestern Oregon Community College, and Rogue Community College started the OCNE
curriculum in 2006. In 2007 Lane Community College and Clackamas Community College; and in 2010
Blue Mountain Community College and Portland Community College will implement the OCNE
curriculum. OCNE schools have the same prerequisites and comparable application processes for
students.

The competencies of the OCNE curriculum address the need for nurses to be skilled in clinical
judgment and critical thinking, evidence-based practice, relationship-centered care, interdisciplinary
collaboration, assisting individuals and families in self-care practices for promotion of health and
management of chronic and acute illness, end-of-life care, and teaching, delegation, leadership and
supervision of caregivers.

Acceptance to the program allows for co-admission to MHCC and Oregon Health & Science University
(OHSU) nursing programs. Co-admission is an agreement that applicants who are admitted to MHCC
will be eligible to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Nursing at OHSU without an
additional competitive application process. The co-admitted student will matriculate and be entered into
the OHSU student record system, following successful completion of five or six terms of the curriculum
at Mt. Hood. Students completing the AAS will meet the educational requirements to be eligible to sit for
the RN-licensure examination, and would complete four additional terms of full-time study to earn the
Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Nursing through OHSU or in their second year they could
move seamlessly from winter quarter at MHCC to spring enrollment in OHSU without completing the
AAS. In either case, students would be able to at MHCC Campus, Nursing facility, to complete the BS
degree. Students who need part time study will have a two-year time frame to complete the BS

program at OHSU. Student must complete all arts, letters and sciences courses during the first year in
order to progress into the final year of nursing courses at OHSU. Beyond the two-year limit, interested
students would need to apply directly to OHSU.

Length of Program - The Program is designed to provide students the option of completing an
Associate’s degree from MHCC and/or a bachelor’s degree in nursing from OHSU. As such, the course
work is outlined in a “four-year” framework.
• Year one: Prerequisite coursework
• Year two: Nursing curriculum - MHCC
• Year three: Nursing curriculum - MHCC
At the completion of year three, students may earn an Associate of Applied Science degree and be
eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam. Students may choose to continue on without the
AAS and complete NCLEX-RN at the end of the BS degree. Students may complete the BS
degree in four terms of full time study, or in two years of part time study. For the part-time option,
students must complete all arts, letters and sciences courses during the first year in order to
progress into the final year of nursing courses with OHSU. Beyond the two-year limit, interested
students would need to apply directly to OHSU.
• Year four: Upper division nursing coursework through OHSU with upper division arts, letters and
sciences from an accredited university. At the end of this year, students will earn a Bachelor of
Science degree and be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN licensure exam if not already completed.

Demands of the Program - It is important to understand the mental and physical demands of the
nursing program and the career of the nurse. Applicants to the nursing program must be physically and
mentally able to cope with the rigors of the curriculum and the demanding nature of the health
professions. Nursing students must be able to grasp scientific concepts, set up and answer basic math
and algebra problems, and communicate well verbally and in writing. Physically, students must be able
to remain on their feet for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, hear heart and breath sounds, read
fine print and identify skin tones such as pale, ashen, gray or bluish.

Established academic and clinical requirements essential to the program of instruction apply to all
students and cannot be waived. Attempts will be made to accommodate and retain qualified applicants
with disabilities unless results of evaluations indicate that given reasonable accommodation an
individual will still be unable to perform the essential functions required by the program. A complete list
of the required essential functions is available in the Office of Disability Services. Persons with
questions concerning particular qualifications are encouraged to contact the Office of Disability
Services to arrange an appointment for individual consultation and advice prior to application.

ADMISSION PROCESS
Admission of all students is centralized in the Admissions, Registration and Records Office. Admission
to MHCC does not guarantee admission to the Nursing Program. The Admissions, Registration and
Records Office has the final authority on what constitutes equivalency for all admission criteria and has
the sole authority to inform students of their admission status.

APPLICATION OPEN AND CLOSE DATES

Applicants will submit a complete nursing application packet including all required documents as listed
below. Applications are accepted from November 1, 2007 through February 15, 2008. The applications
must be postmarked February 15, 2008 or received by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 15, 2008 by Mt.
Hood Community College. The only materials that will be accepted after February 15, 2008 are official

transcripts documenting completed coursework that was in progress during Winter Term 2008. The last
day to submit these official transcripts is April 11, 2008, by 5:00 p.m.

Applicant Notification - After the application deadline, admissions personnel will evaluate each
application for completeness and eligibility. Applicants will be notified in writing of their eligibility.

APPLICANT ASSESSMENT - The admission process is designed to ensure each admitted applicant is
prepared to be successful in the program and the career field. Applicants are assessed through:

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS - A checklist of required documents is provided as part of the application

packet. The documents include:

• OCNE/MHCC 2008-2009 Nursing Program Application form

• MHCC Student Admission Form – you must submit this form even if you are a current or previous
student. If you are a new student you will be billed a $25.00 non-refundable general admission fee
upon enrolling for a credit bearing course.

• Nursing Application-Processing Fee: This fee of $50.00 is an additional fee to the general
admission fee and is due by the application deadline. Submit the $50.00 non-refundable Nursing
Program application fee with the packet. Your application will not be considered without the fee.

• Year One Prerequisite Course Planning Sheet

• Other Official Documents as described in the packet and on the checklist

ADMISSION CRITERIA
To be eligible for admission, applicants must meet the requirements described below.
• Completion of all program prerequisites with a letter grade of “C” or better. The required
mathematics and A&P I, A&P II, and A&P III must be completed within the last ten years (during or
after 1998).

• Submit official college transcripts demonstrating a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA for all completed
prerequisite/preparatory coursework to Admission, Registration and Records Office. All transcripts
documenting prerequisite coursework must be official (unopened). MHCC recommends that you
send recently dated official transcripts. Any transcripts received in prior years will not be
guaranteed to be on file.

• A minimum of 30 credits of prerequisite/preparatory classes must be completed by the end of the

winter term 2008 for an application to be considered. 30 credits (of the 45) must be completed or in
progress by the application deadline of February 15, 2008. Official transcripts documenting
completion of courses, which were in progress winter term 2008, must be received by April 11,
2008. The 30 credits must include BI231 and the Math/Math competency Students, who satisfy the
MTH95 requirement by competency (placement test scores), will need to meet the minimum 45
credits required for entry to nursing school, by completing five credits of electives. Electives may
include college-level math and foreign language, 100 level or higher, and may include the extra
credits when a 4 or 5 credit course is taken to meet a 3 credit requirement.

• For purpose of OCNE academic policy, letter grades are used/recognized without +/- designation.
Therefore a “C-“ grade would be an accepted grade for a prerequisite course.

• Credits taken as a pass/no pass (if accepted by the college as meeting the requirements) will be
credited as a “C” grade. These credits may be counted, if needed, in the total number of require
credits for application or admission.

• Completion of all required forms, including the MHCC College Application form, OCNE/MHCC
2008-2009 Nursing Program Application form; $50 non-refundable nursing application processing
fee; Year One- Prerequisite Course Planning chart; official college transcripts, and the Application
Checklist.

• Transfer coursework from foreign Institutions - must be evaluated by the application deadline by an
outside credential evaluation service. The evaluation company must be either AACRAO Foreign
Education Credential Service (www.aacrao.org) or a member of the National Association of
Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). For a list of NACES memberships, please refer to their
web site at www.naces.org. The evaluation must be a course-by-course evaluation with an official
copy submitted to the Admissions, Registration and Records Office. The coursework must be
considered to be at a post-secondary level, have comparable MHCC accreditation status and be
parallel in content to MHCC coursework. The outside evaluation must also be completed for
secondary level education for any evaluation of that coursework toward MHCC admission
requirements.

• Non-accredited college transcripts - will not be considered in the evaluation of your application nor
can they be considered toward any degree requirements.

Additional Competencies
Basic Computer Literacy - Success in a nursing program requires that students be computer literate,
including at least word processing, use of spreadsheets, and web searches. In some colleges,
computer proficiency is an admission requirement. Even when it is not, students without computer
experience should seek out opportunities for remediation in this competency prior to entering the
nursing program. Computer competency is assessed during the interview process. Students who
choose to take a computer course like CIS120L, Computer Concepts Lab, to gain computer literacy,
may count this credit as an elective toward the 45 credits of pre-program coursework.

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA ) - You are not required to complete a Nursing Assistant course for
application or matriculation purposes. Students who have this credential and who have worked as a
CNA may be awarded discretionary points.

Interview and Proctored Essay If you are invited to an interview, a maximum of 30 points will be
awarded for the interview/essay responses. Examples of possible areas to be assessed at the time of
the interview include: diversity, personal values, communication, motivational fitness, tolerance for
stress, and transferable skills.

UPON ACCEPTANCE
Notification - Upon notification of acceptance, admitted students must indicate in writing by the stated
deadline their intention to enroll, or their position will be given to the next eligible alternate.
Mandatory Orientation - A mandatory orientation will be held for admitted and alternate students.
Attendance is required, or the next eligible alternate will be given your assigned place in the program.
Students will be informed of the orientation date, time, and location in their acceptance letter.

Proof of Immunizations – Accepted and alternate students must submit proof of the following
immunizations by the stated deadline or their space will be given to the next eligible alternate:
• Immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chicken pox)
• Current Tuberculin Skin Test or a chest x-ray
• Tetanus-Diptheria-PertussisToxiod within the last 10 years
• Hepatitis B—the series must be started by the stated deadline and can be completed during the first
term of the program

Current CPR Card - Each accepted and alternate student must provide a current Health Care Provider
Level CPR card approved by the American Heart Association

Criminal Background Check - All accepted students will be required to undergo a criminal background
check, with fingerprinting prior to entering the program. Individuals with a criminal record may not be
allowed into a healthcare facility as a student. Because it is not possible to meet the objectives of the
program without having clinical experience, anyone with a positive criminal or abuse history may not be
eligible for acceptance in the nursing program. In addition, the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN)
requires a criminal background check upon application for licensure. For more information on OSBN
licensing requirements see, www.osbn.state.or.us.

Required Nursing Prerequisite/Preparatory Courses and Competencies

Students are eligible to be considered for admission to the nursing program after completion of 30
quarter credits courses from the following list. The 30 credits must include Anatomy and Physiology I
and Math 95 or higher math. Other prerequisites that are in progress winter term 2008 may count
toward the 30 credit requirement if the official winter term transcript is submitted by 5 pm, April 11,
2008. Students who are selected for admission to the nursing program must complete the remaining
required prerequisite/preparatory credits to a total of 45-50 credits prior to entering nursing courses. All
course work must be completed with a “C“ or better and with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 for all
completed prerequisite/preparatory credits.

Year One – Prerequisite/Preparatory Course Requirements 45 credits

• 45 credits (specified below) must be earned prior to the first term of the nursing program
• 30 credits (of the 45) must be completed or in progress by the application deadline of February 15,
2008. Official transcripts documenting completion of courses that were in progress winter term
2008, must be received by 5 pm, April 11, 2008. The 30 credits must include BI231 and the
Math/Math competency. See details below.
BI112 Biology for Allied Health - 4 credits. BI112 is a prerequisite to A&P I at MHCC. This
course includes coverage of cellular and molecular genetics (Biology with genetics is required before
starting the nursing courses).
BI231 HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY I – 4 credits. BI231 must be completed or in progress
by the application deadline of February 15, 2008 and within the last ten years (during or after 1998).
• Chemistry 103 and Biology 112 are prerequisites for BI231.
• Students who completed BI231 without completing Chemistry 103 and Biology 112 do not have
to take CH103 and BI112. (However a Biology Course with genetics is required before starting
the nursing courses).
BI232 HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY II – 4 credits. This course must be completed within
the past ten years (during or after 1998).

BI233 HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY III – 4 credits. This course must be completed within
the past ten years (during or after 1998).
MTH95 INTERMEDIATE ALGEBRA - 0-5 credits. The math/math competency may be completed in
one of the following options:
• The course MTH95 (Intermediate Algebra), or higher, must be completed or in progress by the
application deadline of February 15, 2008. The course must be completed with a “C” grade or
higher, and within the last 10 years (during or after 1998). If the course is in progress during Winter
term 2008, official transcripts documenting successful completion must be received by April 11,
2008 by 5:00 p.m.
or
• Placement into MTH105 or higher on the Mt. Hood Community College Placement Test (CPT) by
the application deadline of February 15, 2008, 5:00 p.m. A mathematics course (minimum of
MTH95, excluding MTH211), with a grade of “C” or better, must be completed and noted on a
college transcript to meet the general education requirements for graduation from MHCC.
WR121 ENGLISH COMPOSITION – 3 credits. Requirement is waived with completion of a bachelor’s
degree or higher.
WR122 ENGLISH COMPOSITION: CRITICAL THINKING – 3 credits. Requirement is waived with
completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher.
FN225 NUTRITION – 4 credits

PSY237 HUMAN DEVELOPMENT - 4 credits. The course must cover the developmental process of
human life covering the full life span. Courses that cover only part of a life span will not be accepted.
• PSY201 is the prerequisite to PSY237 at MHCC and can count in the 14 credits of Humanities,
Social Science or Natural Science listed below.
• Students who completed PSY237 without completing PSY201, will need to select an approved
MHCC human relations course, which would fulfill the human relations requirement for
graduation. (Please see Additional MHCC Degree Requirements).
HUMANITIES, SOCIAL SCIENCE OR NATURAL SCIENCES –14 credits. Selection of these electives
may serve as a foundation for a focused area of study and must include a minimum of at least six
credits from the Social Sciences and three credits from Humanities. BI112 (Biology for Allied Health) or
an acceptable transfer biology with genetics course is required before starting the nursing courses and
can count toward the 14 credits of Humanities, Social Science or Natural Science. Please refer to the
College Catalog for a complete list of approved courses. Students who complete these requirements at
other schools may make their selection based on that institutions general education list.
OTHER ELECTIVES – up to 5 credits. Students, who satisfy the MTH95 requirement by competency
(placement test scores), will need to meet the minimum 45 credits required for entry to nursing school,
by completing five credits of electives. Electives may include college-level math and foreign language,
100 level or higher, and may include the extra credits when a 4 or 5 credit course is taken to meet a 3
credit requirement.
Foreign Language Proficiency - Language proficiency is a requirement for graduation with the
bachelor’s degree. This requirement can be met by:
• Two years of the same high school language
• Two terms (quarters or semesters) of the same college level language
• A language proficiency examination
Notes:
• College level (100 and above) credits in the foreign languages count toward the 45 prerequisite
credits as well as the associate degree and bachelor degree credits.

in the pre-program courses or for the degree.
• American Sign Language is an accepted language to meet the language requirement.)
Important Notes:
• Some of the nursing pre-program courses have prerequisites such as general biology or chemistry.
It is important to meet with an adviser to plan your schedule so you ensure all requirements are
completed by the application deadline.
• Course numbers listed here are for courses at Mt. Hood Community College. If you have
completed or plan to complete the prerequisites at another college, please refer to the OCNE
Nursing Program Equivalents chart for a list of equivalent courses at other Oregon colleges.
• Credits taken pass/no pass may be counted in the total number of required credits for application or
admission, and will be considered a “C” for calculation of the grade point average (GPA).
• Students must have documentation of having taken a biology course with genetic content before
starting the nursing courses. BI102 or BI112 will satisfy this requirement.
• Natural Science electives must be selected from courses with the following prefixes: BI, CH, FW, G,
GS or PH.
• Applicants who have completed a bachelor’s or higher degree will have the Writing 121 and WR122
requirement waived. However other electives or Humanities, Social Sciences or Natural Sciences
will need to be completed to fulfill the 45 course credits required for admission to the program. For
Humanities, Social Sciences, or Natural Sciences, applicants can refer to the MHCC 2007-08
College Catalog, p 9 for a complete list of approved courses at

math and foreign language, 100 level or higher, and may include the extra credits when a 4 or 5
credit course is taken to meet a 3 credit requirement.
• Additional MHCC Degree Requirements:
Human Relations Requirement: For students, who have completed human development at a
college not requiring PSY201, General Psychology, then any MHCC approved human relations
course would fulfill the human relations requirement for graduation. The human relations
courses include: ANTH101, EC115, GEOG106, GEOG107, HST110, HST111, HST112,
HUM202, PHL201, PSY101, PSY201, PSY235, R210, SOC204, SOC205, SOC206
Mathematics: Applicants can meet the mathematics skills proficiency requirement for
admissions by placing into MTH105; however, a mathematics course (minimum of MTH95,
excluding MTH211), with a grade of “C” or better, must be completed and noted on a college
transcript to meet the general education requirements for graduation from MHCC.

APPLICANT ASSESSMENT
Eligible applicants will be assessed according to a 70-point scale. The top 150 applicants will be invited
to participate in a combination of proctored essay and interview.

ADMISSIONS POINT SYSTEM - Eligible applicants will be assessed according to the following point
system:
1. Prerequisite GPA: A maximum of 40 points will be awarded. The applicant must provide
transcript(s) from an accredited college or university for a minimum of 30 quarter credits of
prerequisites or all prerequisites completed up to 45 quarter credits. Only the prerequisites will be
calculated in the GPA for assignment of points in the admission process. Only official transcripts for
coursework to be assessed are necessary for application purposes.
2. GPA in Anatomy and Physiology: A maximum of 5 points will be awarded for the grade in Anatomy
and Physiology l. The most recent grade is used for any courses that were repeated.
3. If the full sequence of Anatomy and Physiology is completed with a grade of “C” or better prior to
April 11, 2008, 5 additional points will be awarded.
4. Prior Degree: Applicants who hold a prior degree will be awarded points as follows:

6. Discretionary Points:
MHCC has selected three areas that students have the opportunity to earn discretionary points (12
maximum points), they are as follows:
1. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA ) – Students who have a current credential and students
who have worked as a CNA are eligible for discretionary points. See the chart below:

Students must submit:

• a photocopy of his or her current CNA card (front and back)
• CNA Work Experience Form (see handout in packet) for each place of CNA employment
they wish to have counted towards earning points
NOTE: Students, who trained and served in the military as medical personnel, may be eligible
for some discretionary points. Please contact the Admissions evaluator for instructions at 503-

2. Prior MHCC Coursework – students who complete 30 credits of the prerequisite coursework
for Nursing, from MHCC, earn 2 points.

3. Microbiology (BI234) - students who have completed BI234 or equivalent microbiology course
with a grade of “C” or better by the end of winter term 2008 and the official transcript is
submitted by the deadline date (April 11, 2008) will be awarded 2 points.

awarded for the interview/essay responses. Examples of possible areas to be assessed at the

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1. How do I get an application and when do I apply? Applications are available at MHCC’s web
site, www.mhcc.edu . Applications are accepted from November 1, 2007 through February 15,
2008. The applications must be postmarked February 15, 2008 or received by 5 p.m. on
Wednesday, February 15, 2008 to Mt. Hood Community College. The only materials that will be
accepted after this date are official transcripts documenting completed coursework that was in
progress during Winter Term 2008. The last day to submit these official transcripts is April 11, 2008,
by 5:00 p.m.
2. When do you accept students into the program? Entrance is offered each Fall and Winter term.
To be considered for admission into the program, applications should be returned beginning
November 1, 2007 and no later than Wednesday, February 15, 2008 at 5:00 p.m. Placement into
the Fall or Winter term is by random selection, personal preferences are not considered.
3. How do I get accepted to the Mt. Hood Community College nursing program? Students must
follow the instructions for applying for the nursing program. The process is thoroughly described. In
addition, students should attend a Nursing Program information session and meet with an academic
adviser.
4. What are my chances of being accepted into the program once I’ve completed the minimum
requirements? Because admission is competitive and based on a point scale, it is difficult to
predict the chances of acceptance in advance. It is important to be as successful as possible in
your prerequisite coursework as that is where a bulk of the admission points is awarded. Please
refer to the Admissions Point System for a breakdown of how applicants are assessed.
5. What if I’m not accepted into the program when I apply? Up to 40 students may be placed on a
ranked alternate list from the top ranked students who were invited to an interview but were not
accepted into the program. If an accepted candidate decides not to enter the program, students on
the alternate list are selected to fill an available position. The alternate list is active through mid-
March 2009.Students not admitted to the program must reapply the following year to be

6. With all this talk about a nursing shortage why don’t you offer more applicants admission?
Currently we are also in a nursing faculty and clinical site shortage. There are many nursing
schools in the state of Oregon and limited clinical sites. As a member of the Oregon Nursing
Leadership Council and the nursing consortium, Mt. Hood Community College is exploring ways to
expand its programs to educate more nurses. Our policy is to admit students based upon our
funding and resources.
7. What kind of time commitment can I expect the program to involve? The nursing program
demands a great deal of time. In addition to classroom time (approximately 10-18 hours a week),
you will spend an average of 10-12 hours per week in the nursing skills laboratory and at clinical
practice sites (in hospitals, long-term care and community health settings). Clinicals are scheduled
during the hours that nurses typically work which could be morning, evening or swing shift. As you

10. Can I work when I am enrolled in the nursing program? The nursing program is an intense
program with classes and clinical placements. Students may find working even part time difficult.
For many students, employment while attending school is necessary. Jobs with flexible schedules
are desirable in these circumstances. Students must adjust work hours to accommodate their
school schedule.
11. Can you complete the program part time or is it offered on-line? No, the nursing program is a
full-time program of study. Most courses are not available on-line due to the required clinical and
lab hours.

Completed OCNE/Mt. Hood Community College 2008-2009 Nursing Program Application form. I understand
that by making application to Mt. Hood Community College I am also applying for co-admission and authorizing the
release of my application information to OHSU. In addition, I am authorizing my information to be released to the
State Board of Nursing for research purposes only.
Completed Mt. Hood Community College admission form. You must submit this form even if you are a current or
previous student. If you are a new student you will be billed a $25.00 non-refundable general admission fee upon
enrolling for a credit bearing course.
$50.00 non-refundable nursing application-processing fee. This fee of $50.00 is an additional fee to the general
admission fee and is due by the application deadline. Submit the $50.00 non-refundable Nursing Program application
fee with the packet. Your application will not be considered without the fee.
Year One Prerequisite Course Planning Chart. I have completed and attached the chart indicating where all

Official (unopened) College Transcripts. I understand the instructions (provided in this application) for

The prerequisite year of the program is devoted to prerequisites and/or preparatory courses, 45 quarter credits, required before
the first term of the nursing program. Year Two (see chart above) of the OCNE program is comprised of identical courses for
associate and bachelor’s work. The third term of Year Three offers students the ability to complete the AAS degree (and
eligibility for NCLEX-RN licensure testing) or can be used to begin the coursework for the Bachelor of Science degree with a
major in Nursing (BS) or a combination of both. 15 credits of non-nursing coursework must be upper division courses (300-400
level courses) for the Bachelors Degree with a Major in Nursing.
The student may remain at Mt. Hood Community College for continued selected coursework toward the BS, but tuition will
convert at this time to OHSU. It is important for students to be aware that residency requirements differ between OCNE schools
and OHSU. Meeting the in-state tuition residency requirement for Mt. Hood Community College does not ensure students will
be eligible for residency and in-state tuition at OHSU. Please see the OHSU website, www.ohsu.edu for information on meeting
