GRADE 8

MELC: Comparing and Contrasting the Presentation of the Same Topic in Different Multimodal Texts

Objectives: At the end of the module, the learner is expected to:


1.define multimodal text;
2.distinguish the forms of multimodal texts;
3.use graphical representations to show comparison and contrast of the same text in different
multimodal texts; and
4.realize the value of the proper way to express comparison and contrast of the same text in
different multimodal texts.

DAY AND
TIME LEARNING TASKS

 Wake up, make up your bed, eat breakfast, and get ready for an awesome day!
 Have a short exercise/ meditation/ bonding with the family.

Preliminaries/Introduction ( What I need to know )


 To begin the learning session, have a short conversation with the learner about the process of
communication
 After sharing of thoughts, give the module to the learner, and provide sheets of paper needed in
answering the activities.

Pre assessment (What I know)


 Let the learner answer pages 3 - 4. Allow the him/her to read and understand the instructions
carefully before answering all of the activities.
Note: Guide the learner as he/she accomplishes the task. Emphasize that comprehension is
needed in answering the questions.

PROCEDURES
1. Review/Motivations (What’s In)
 In this part of the module, the learner is given an opportunity to review a lesson learned from the
previous grade. Have the learner answer all of the activities on page 5. Instruct him/her to
carefully examine the sentences in Activity A in response to Activity B on the same page.
Note: Allow the learner to think freely and remember the lesson he/she learned in the past and
apply it in doing this activity.

2. Initial Activity/Discovery (What’s New)


 Let the learner analyze the poster on page 6 and answer the activity that follows on the same page.
Note: Remind him/her that he/she has to use the Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the

elements found in the poster.


3. Discussion of the Topic (What is it)
 In this part, devote enough time as the learner proceeds to the discussion of the lesson. Here, he/she
is about to learn the Multimodal Text which is located on pages 7-8.
Note: Take time to read and analyze with the learner the study notes and examples for better
understanding of the given informative materials. This may help the learner to engage
himself/herself more in the learning task.

4. Enrichment Activities (What’s More)


 This part of the module is to measure how well the learner understands the lesson. There are six
independent activities/assessments that he/she has to answer from pages 9 - 13.
Note: Make sure that the learner reads and understands the directions before answering.
5. Generalization (What I Have Learned)
 This part of the module aims to let the learner wrap up the lesson through the given activity on
page 14.
Note: Check if the learner has completed the activity. Guide him/her in doing the task by
instructing him/her to focus only on the key points.

6. Application (What I Can Do)


 Let the learner compare and contrast the transition of their study habits using their own
diagram/graphic organizer on page 15.
Note: The teacher may add supplementary activities

7. Assessment (Post assessment)


 It is time to test the learner’s understanding on the lesson. Again, let him/her comprehend well
the directions before answering Assessment A on pages 15 – 16. Then, allow him/her to read the
essay on pages 16 – 17 and complete the diagram on page 17.
Note: Again, guide the learner in accomplishing the tasks. However, bear in mind that his/her
answers must come from himself/herself only. This will promote guided learning with honesty.

8. Additional Activity
 At this point, another set of activities are given to enrich the learner’s knowledge or skill of the
lesson learned. He/She is ask to use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast the data about the
number of COVID19 cases particularly in Baliuag, Bulacan presented in each table on page 18,
Make a slogan that will persuade the townspeople to help lessen the COVID19 cases in Baliuag,
Bulacan on page 19, and Watch the speeches of the two former Presidents of the Republic of the
Philippines with the links provided. Then, compare and contrast the learning preferences used in
each of the speeches of Presidents Joseph Ejercito Estrada and Benigno Aquino III, as a
retention of the acquired skill.
Note: As the learner finishes the final task of the lesson, greet him/her with joy and pride. Give
him/her due praises in order to motivate him/her to do well again in the next module.

MODE OF DELIVERY

 After accomplishing all the activities, the parent/guardian will personally return the module, the answer
sheets, and the output/s (if there is any) to the designated distribution/retrieval area in your barangay.
