Introduction

E-COMMERCE
E- Commerce has become an integral part of business in the modern world. E-Commerce, also
known as electronic commerce or internet commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods or
services using the internet, and the transfer of money and data to execute these transactions. E-
Commerce is often used to refer to the sale of physical products online, but it can also describe
any kind of commercial transaction that is facilitated through the internet.
Information and communications technology (ICT) is used in e-commerce marketing to create
and add to relationships among organizations and between an individual and an organization. At
present, about half of the world prefers purchasing items online at their convenience.
Whereas e-business refers to all aspects of operating an online business, e-commerce refers
specifically to the transaction of goods and services.
The history of e-commerce begins with the first ever online sale: on the August 11, 1994 a man
sold a CD by the band Sting to his friend through his website Net Market, an American retail
platform. This is the first example of a consumer purchasing a product from a business through
the World Wide Web—or “e-commerce” as we commonly know it today.
Since then, e-commerce has evolved to make products easier to discover and purchase through
online retailers and marketplaces. Independent freelancers, small businesses, and large
corporations have all benefited from e-commerce, which enables them to sell their goods and
services at a scale that was not possible with traditional offline retail.
There are four main types of e-commerce models that can describe almost every transaction that
takes place between consumers and businesses.
1. Business to Consumer (B2C) - When a business sells a good or service to an individual
consumer (e.g. buying a pair of shoes from an online retailer).
2. Business to Business (B2B) - When a business sells a good or service to another business
(e.g. a business sells software-as-a-service for other businesses to use)
3. Consumer to Consumer (C2C) - When a consumer sells a good or service to another
consumer (e.g. selling old furniture on eBay to another consumer).
4. Consumer to Business (C2B) - When a consumer sells their own products or services to a
business or organization (e.g. An influencer offers exposure to their online audience in exchange
for a fee, or a photographer licenses their photo for a business to use).
ADVANTAGES OF E-COMMERCE
E- Commerce provides various advantages to both businesses as well as consumers. It has
revolutionized the world of trade and commerce and has paved a way to a more accessible,
convenient and profitable shopping experience for everyone. The various advantages of e-
commerce are as follows –
 Overcome Geographical Limitations: If you have a physical store, you are limited by
the geographical area that you can service. With an e-commerce website, the whole world
is your playground. Additionally, the advent of m-commerce, i.e., e-commerce on mobile
devices, has dissolved every remaining limitation of geography.
 Gain New Customers with Search Engine Visibility: Physical retail is driven by
branding and relationships. In addition to these two drivers, online retail is also driven by
traffic from search engines. It is not unusual for customers to follow a link in search
engine results and land on an e-commerce website that they have never heard of. This
additional source of traffic can be the tipping point for some e-commerce businesses.
 Lower Costs: One of the most tangible positives of e-commerce is the lowered cost. A
part of these lowered costs could be passed on to customers in the form of discounted
prices. Here are some of the ways that costs can be reduced with e-commerce:
 Advertising and marketing: Organic search engine traffic, pay-per-click, and social
media traffic are some of the advertising channels that can be cost-effective.
 Personnel: The automation of checkout, billing, payments, inventory management, and
other operational processes lowers the number of employees required to run an e-
commerce setup.
 Real estate: This one is a no-brainer. An e-commerce merchant does not need a
prominent physical location.
 Locate the Product Quicker: It is no longer about pushing a shopping cart to the correct
aisle or scouting for the desired product. On an e-commerce website, customers can click
through intuitive navigation or use a search box to narrow down their product search
immediately. Some websites remember customer preferences and shopping lists to
facilitate repeat purchase.
 Eliminate Travel Time and Cost: It is not unusual for customers to travel long distances
to reach their preferred physical store. E-commerce allows them to visit the same store
virtually, with just a few mouse clicks.
 Provide Comparison Shopping: E-commerce facilitates comparison shopping. There
are several online services that allow customers to browse multiple e-commerce
merchants and find the best prices.
 Enable Deals, Bargains, Coupons, and Group Buying: Though there are physical
equivalents to deals, bargains, coupons, and group buying, online shopping makes it
much more convenient. For instance, if a customer has a deep discount coupon for turkey
at one physical store and toilet paper at another, she may find it infeasible to avail of both
discounts. But the customer could do that online with a few mouse-clicks.
 Provide Abundant Information: There are limitations to the amount of information that
can be displayed in a physical store. It is difficult to equip employees to respond to
customers who require information across product lines. E-commerce websites can make
additional information easily available to customers. Most of this information is provided
by vendors and does not cost anything to create or maintain.
 Create Targeted Communication: Using the information that a customer provides in
the registration form, and by placing cookies on the customer's computer, an e-commerce
merchant can access a lot of information about its customers. It, in turn, can be used to
communicate relevant messages. An example: If you are searching for a certain product
on Amazon.com, you will automatically be shown listings of other similar products.
Also, Amazon.com may email you about related products.
 Remain Open All the Time: Store timings are now 24/7/365. E-commerce websites can
run all the time. From the merchant's point of view, this increases the number of orders
they receive. From the customer's point of view, an "always open" store is more
convenient.
 Create Markets for Niche Products: Buyers and sellers of niche products can find it
difficult to locate each other in the physical world. Online, it is only a matter of the
customer searching for the product in a search engine. One example could be
the purchase of obsolete parts. Instead of trashing older equipment for lack of spares,
today we can locate parts online with great ease.
DISADVANTAGES OF E-COMMERCE
However, there are also certain disadvantages that accompany the various boons that e-
commerce has to offer. They are as follows –

 Security: Online portals have been in the news a lot because of hacks by cybercriminals
and hackers. It is a very serious issue as your account might be hacked because of
negligence and wiped out clean of the existing cash. This is a harsh reality of e-
commerce.
 Site crash: E-commerce is fully dependent on internet connection. A major disadvantage
of e-commerce is putting a stop to buying capabilities because of a site crash. Such a
small word site crash but has the ability to put a whole business down within a few
seconds.
 No possibility of tried and tested product: One of the major disadvantages of e-
commerce portal is that a customer is unable to try and test the product for his own
satisfaction. We are habituated to buy at physical stores after trying a product several
times and suddenly it takes a lot of guts to change this lifetime habit where you cannot
touch, try and test beforehand.
 Late delivery: Late delivery is one of the common disadvantages of e-commerce
platforms. While ordering a product the customer is assured that it will reach him in
maximum seven days or a particular time period. In most cases that does not happen and
you are kept waiting for it.
 Some products are difficult to buy online: If you think that you can buy everything
online then it is your misconception. There are products for instance eatables like ice
cream, spectacles, and metals like gold and silver that you do not want to buy online even
if you have the option of doing so.
 Lack of privacy: Lack of privacy is a serious disadvantage of e-commerce. A customer
has to provide his personal details before making a purchase like address, name, and
phone number and so on. Some sites do not have advanced encrypted technology that can
protect your personal details from hackers and it is a cause of grave concern.
 Tax issues: E-commerce portals are accessible in most part of the world as it is not
limited to a particular geographical location. When a customer makes a purchase he has
to pay the tax on it and it becomes difficult to calculate the actual sales tax levied in that
place.
 Legal issues: Several cyber laws have been implemented to protect the rights of both
seller and buyer. If you are looking to create a website it is important that you go through
the local laws as well as cyber laws so that you do not have to face any problems later on.
 Huge technological cost: E-commerce requires advanced platforms to better
their performance. If it faces disturbances in the form of software, network or domain
issue it will not be able to offer seamless transactions. The apt technical infrastructure is
costly and needs huge investment.
 Fear: People fear the unknown. E-commerce transactions are mostly faceless and
paperless without any due proof. Most of the organizations do not have a physical
existence and customers are hesitant to make card payments beforehand. They fear that if
the desired product does not arrive then they will lose their money.
 High labour cost: High labour cost is a serious disadvantage of the e-commerce
platform. You need to hire technically sound, trained and qualified workforce for your
website who are talented and capable of handling them in an efficient manner.
 Lack of personal touch: When you enter a retail outlet you are welcomed at the gate and
as you enter inside there are several employees to help you in case of any difficulties.
When you are online and making a choice there is no one to help you during your visit.
 Credit card fraud: Online transactions are mostly made by debit card, credit card, and
internet banking and in very few cases with cash on delivery option. Yes, the website
owners try to take every available precaution to protect the card details but what if the
site is hacked by cybercriminals.

Origin Story
Venthrapy has started its journey from an Idea discussed between two friends to a platform with
around 11 Clinical Psychologists or Venthrapists as the Company would like to call them.
Founded by Shubhang Sawalka and Samaksh Khatri, this start up became a real thing in midst of
Covid-19. Shubhang has always had an ambition to be an entrepreneur and had just finished his
internship at Dior, he had planned that he would be opening his own start up real soon but the
major problem was – What kind of start up? After a lot of crazy ideas being rejected upon
discussion Samaksh, the idea of online therapy was something both agreed on. Since both of
them didn’t belong to the business background, they decided to bring in someone professional
onboard as a core member. Thus, came into picture Dr. Nitin A. Lal, who’s a clinical
psychologist.
Now with this found team, they started hired a few tech free lancers to make their platform, the
platform allows user to write journals and gives blog/video suggestions free of cost. The users
can then choose their subscription plans and schedule a session with their desired therapist. The
company had a plan but didn’t have enough player so the company started expanding with like-
minded individuals who believed in the vision of the firm and didn’t mind working unpaid for a
while.
With the expansion of firm, the company had a server of their own, new CTO and a Marketing
division. The company now stands with a decent amount of followership on various social media
platforms. Currently, the company caters to more clients than their projection on the platform
and is destined to expand its customer base by advertisements, affiliations, collaborations,
webinars etc.
WHY IS VENTHRAPY THE STARTUP OF NEW ERA?

Online therapy, also known as e-therapy, e-counseling, tele-therapy, or cyber-counseling,

involves providing mental health services and support over the internet. Services can be offered
through email, text messaging, video conferencing, online chat, messaging, or internet phone.
Online therapy can occur in real-time, such as in phone conversations and text messaging, or in a
time-delayed format, such as through email messages. Though this type of therapy has
limitations, it is quickly becoming an important resource for a growing number of people.
Techniques

 Primary tools for communicating in online therapy include:

 Email
 Mobile device apps
 Real-time instant messaging
 Telephone
 Text-based chats
 Video conferencing

Such services may be accessed via a desktop computer or laptop, but mobile apps are also
becoming an increasingly popular option.
Venthrapists
Just as therapists and counselors in the "real-world" can have a range of qualifications and
licenses, online therapists can also differ considerably in their training and credentials. Though
some websites promise a quick and easy path to becoming an online therapist, becoming an
online therapist takes the same education and training as becoming a traditional in-person
therapist.
However, the actual practice of online therapy is very difficult to regulate since therapists can
operate from anywhere in the world making it tough to enforce state laws regulating
education, training, and scope of practice.
Rules and Ethics of Venthrapy
Venthrapy does not provide assistance in situations of medical or psychological emergencies.
We do not offer support in crisis situations which include individuals contemplating suicide, self-
harm or exhibiting symptoms related to severe disorders such as schizophrenia or other psychotic
conditions. The most appropriate form of help in such cases would be in-person medical
intervention.
In case you are facing any of the above-mentioned difficulties, we urge you to seek immediate
help at a nearest hospital or clinic. Involve a trusted family member or friend who can offer
support. If necessary, reach out to a suicide helpline as soon as possible.
You can also reach out to a suicide hotline in your country of residence

What Venthrapy Can Help With

The Pros and Cons of Online Therapy
Pros of Online Counseling
 Social stigma is eliminated: clients don’t have to worry about people seeing or finding
out that they’re receiving counseling, as they don’t have to drive to or walk into a
counseling center.
 There are more counselors available: clients aren’t limited to working with counselors
in close proximity. Instead, they can find an online counselor who is uniquely equipped
to best help the client with their presenting problems.
 Online counseling offers greater convenience: you don’t have to rework your schedule
to ensure you have time to drive to therapy. Instead, you can attend your counseling
session from the comfort and convenience of your home.
 It eliminates intimidation that comes with in-person communication: A lot of people
seeking counseling don’t feel comfortable talking openly about their problems. With
online counseling, you have the option of writing about your problems instead or
speaking about them on the phone as opposed to in-person.
 Online counseling offers more flexibility: Often with online counseling, you can write
or email your counselor when you need to. You don’t have to wait for your scheduled
session but can call on their help as needed via email.
Cons of Online Counseling
 There is less intimacy: Some clients need that in-person meeting to create that intimate
therapist-client bond that makes for a successful therapy journey.
 It isn’t always covered by insurance: Some insurance companies do not cover online
counseling. It often depends on your state, as well as your insurer. Paying for counseling
out of pocket can quickly add up and proves too expensive for some clients.
 Unreliable technology can get in the way of your session: If you have iffy internet
connection or your laptop suddenly stops working, there goes your therapy session. You
need to ensure that you have reliable technology if you want to give online counseling a
try.
 It might not be as effective as in-person counseling if you have a serious illness:
Online counseling is often effective and proves successful, but this isn’t always the case
if you have a serious mental illness. A serious mental illness might require in-person
therapy so that your counselor can best understand what you’re going through and what
you need.
 It can eliminate nonverbal communication: In in-person therapy, counselors often
analyze their client’s nonverbal communication, such as one’s eye contact and their body
language. If you’re receiving online counseling via telephone or email, your counselor
can’t use nonverbal communication to their benefit.
Scope of Growth
Online Therapy Services is a digital-age version of counseling services, also known as
telepsychology which deals with human behavior via the internet. It is also known as consulting
but on internet grounds. It is one of the major trend growing across the world. People suffering
from many mental health conditions are recommended to have these online therapies. Rising
stress coupled with a busy life of people are boosting the demand for online therapy services in
the market via videos, chatting and texting’s

Conclusion

Research increasingly suggests that online therapy can be an effective option, but that doesn't
mean that it's right for everyone. More serious forms of mental illness, including substance use
disorders and psychiatric conditions including severe depression and schizophrenia, require more
than online treatment can provide.
Consider talking to your doctor about whether online therapy works for your situation or if you
should only use it as a supplement to more traditional treatment options. If you think that online
therapy might be right for you, research some sites and apps that are available to determine
which one is right for your needs and budget.
