Introduction
Heritage is something that is considered significant enough to hand down to
future generations. Heritage is generally divided into two major divisions: cultural
heritage applies to cultural elements such as heritage sites, monuments, folklore,
traditional behaviors, rituals, language, etc. are considered important for future
generations to be retained. It gives people a link to individual social ideals, ideologies,
religions, and customs. It helps them to recognize common mentalities and experiences
with others. Cultural Heritage can offer an intuitive sense of unity and belong within a
community and better appreciate past generations and their roots.
This module will allow you to understand the significance of historical and
heritage sites to support the Philippines' heritage by restoring, maintaining, and
enhancing historic sites and structures and restoring material artifacts.

Lesson 1: Appreciating Historic and Heritage Sites


History regularly documents and describes what people have thought, said, and
done. History is concerned with social, political, economic matters: factual or science-
based history: historical process presenting documentation of the reality of history;
acting as a source of history: historical text related on or implied by people or incidents
of the past: a historical novel.
This module will allow you to understand the significance of historical and
heritage sites to support the Philippines' heritage by restoring, maintaining, and
enhancing historic sites and structures and restoring material artifacts.
