Write a story about a person with a hidden talent.

It was an early start to the day, as I headed out to the backyars to take a look at
my project car, an old ke70 toyota I was rebuilding. The car was nowhere near
done: I started working on it a couple of years ago but I had to abandon the
project due to financial setbacks. Every day for the past two years, I saw it rotting
in my backyard, until I decided it was time to either get rid of it, or go all in to it.
Due to the emotional connection I had with it,being my late grand dads’s car,
letting it go was impossible. I knew I was taking a huge leap of faith even by
believing that the ke70 can be saved. Some might call me deranged, but I decided
to take the project on myself and fix it up in my driveway.

I had always loved cars, loved driving them. But I would not consider myself skilled
enough to put a whole car back together. I thought of giving up quite a few times,
but whenever that thought crossed my mind,I had flashbacks of my grandfather:
how I used to sit on his lap and controlled the steering at the tender age of 7.
These memories were my motivation. With all that positive energy, I got to work
in the early winters. Collecting parts was a nightmare, as they were virtually
impossible to find, due to the car being almost 45 years old. Eventually though, I
had all the parts I needed and I got to work.

I had to use power tools to hack off all the old body parts,as the bolts had too
much rust accumulated on them to be unscrewed. Now came my first
speedbump; the new parts I had ordered were for a ke72. Albeit the parts were
pretty similar, they needed a bit of trimming to fit perfectly.Hence my first time
cutting up parts worth thousands of dollars. After Strong perseverance and a
wasted hood panel, I was gettint the hang of it. In “only” a month, I had the body
of the car ready for paint.

Now came the difficult part; powertrain swap. I had sourced a modern “3sge
beams” engine for the car: safe to say it required quite a bit of alteration to get it
to fit. I had to make entirely new engine mounts and reseal the gaskets. Learning
all of that from good old youtube. Once the mechanical bits were in place,I had to
get the electricals sorted, which was the most testing part. With the help of my
older cousin,we got the wiring sorted. The car finally was running and driving.
The car was sent into a paint booth to get painted, the excitement was real and to
say I was impatient would be an understatement. The car was to be painted its
original metallic brown. The day it was done,my whole family went with me to
collect it from the booth. Seeing the car drive out of the booth,in all its glory,
opened up the tear dams. I remembered the day my grandfather took me for a
drive, and when I fell in love with cars. I was proud of myself. If I hadn’t taken that
project on,our family would not have been reunited, and I would have never
known I can pursue my passion of cars to make a living, which is precisely what I
did. I opened a workshop named “dada jee autos” and have been working on cars
since.
