ABSTRACT

The company is more focused on business related and business


development areas rather than research. The Work of interns
here at Third wave Exim revolves around Business
Development, B2B sales and Analyze the application, and
product awareness. I found out the Third Wave is the biggest
rugged and military based IT products dealer in India with no
such close competitor. I feel that working with Third Wave Exim
is a great value addition to my career and I can make the best
use of my tenure at TWE. Since my work assigned here is
Business development and sales so, the project will give me an
insight about
• Deal with the current customers and find out the new and
right industry to target.
• To learn about the MILITARY STANDARS.
• To make the industry aware about all the new rugged IT
products.
• How to generate business leads with finding right contact
person to talk to.
• How to make sales calls.
• Converting sales call in to live meetings with designated
officers
• How to perform an interest seeking presentation that leads to
live sale.
Description about the work assigned:
The Products: Before going to the field or before staring the
actual work. We were
assigned to know about the rugged products the company
deals in.
The Market/Industry: we were made to understand about the
rugged market.
Applications Respective to the Industry being targeted: This was
the final stage of
insight on which we were trained that what the actual
applications are where these
products are required respective to industries we target.
The project that Third Wave Exim has assigned me is to
determine the applications of
rugged computing solutions within the industries of Delhi/NCR,
during this project .
I even have to find and confirm the new industries and to co-
jointly work with the
present customers of existing companies.

• Do the Research of industry where can rugged products will


be used.
• Study the different application of products before Pitch.
• Telecom to fetch Details of the concern Person in Target
Company.
• To pick and apply the application of the Product before
prospecting.
• to dig out the data of the targeted company and also the
involved person.
• To schedule a gathering with the involved person.
• To come up with target customer’s interest towards the
Products.
• To unfold awareness regarding the Products and also the
company.
• To come up with leads so sales.
Introduction

Third Wave is a rugged computing based company having


headquartered and operations at Ahmadabad, Gujarat. It was
founded in 2004 under Nand Trade division which was founded
early in 1988 by Vijay Sheth. Third wave is the largest supplier
of rugged computing devices in Middle East and South East Asia
with over 60% of market share. The company deals in hardware
devices such as Rugged Laptops, Tablets, Switches, Servers,
Panel PCs and Displays. These devices are specially made to
operate and withstand extreme conditions such as extremely
high temperatures, moisture, salt fog, shock, drop and
vibrations.
The companies listed under Third Wave Group are:
• Third Wave EXIM : It is the supplier of Rugged Computing
devices in India having offices in Ahmadabad, Delhi, Bangalore
and Hyderabad. They are responsible for sales in Pan India
locations.

• Hornbill Rugged Networks Pte. Ltd. : It is based at Singapore


and has operational offices at Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines
and Indonesia. They cater warehousing of the imported units
and sales in the European nations.

• Miltec Rugged Computing Solutions L.L.C(Dubai, UAE): It is


based in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and is responsible for sales in
Middle East countries.
• • Third Wave Milper Rugged Solutions Pvt. Ltd. : It is
based in Ahmadabad and it caters facilities for research and
Development and manufacturing Processes.

• Firehawk Rugged Pvt. Ltd: It is the manufacturer of Tablets


and Handhelds under Make in India project. It uses the facility
provided by Third Wave Milper rugged Solutions at
Ahmadabad.

In India and South East Asia, Third Wave Exim is the market
leader in Rugged Mobile Computing Solutions for Field and
extreme environmental conditions. The company has expertise
in providing rugged computing solutions to the companies that
makes them achieve real benefits in their business operations.
Having qualified technocrats with sound business abilities and
strong technical skills makes the company to withstand the
competition in the market.

Nowadays more companies are integrating their business


operations with the information technology and IoT. But there
are certain budget constraints due to which it is necessary to
employ solution under budget constraints yet smart and
intelligent. Since most of the business operational activities are
done on the fields outside the offices, it has given rise to the
scope of use of rugged mobile computing devices as
commercial grade devices are not compatible with the
environmental conditions.

BACKGROUND AND INCEPTION OF THE COMPANY

Our product range is comprehensive in the area of rugged


computing and data communication solutions, we even supply
ruggedized solutions to Israeli defense agencies.
The company in the year 2005, started as the India distributor
for the well-known Panasonic Toughbook range of rugged
mobile computers. As of now, the company represents global
companies from the rugged sector such as Getac from Taiwan,
Gamber Johnson from the USA, Techaya from Israel and many
more. The company’s product is range is comprehensive in the
area of extreme environmental computing and data
communication solutions having supplies of solutions to Israel
defence agencies.
The Chairman and CEO of the company is Mr Vijay Seth. While
his visit to USA he first saw the rugged laptop. It drew his
interest in the product and hence he analysed the scope of such
products in India as well. After conducting researches he
decided to introduce rugged devices in India. Introduction of
the product was the toughest job to do as the market was
unaware of such products and teaching the same was also
difficult. Despite these problems, he was prepared to face the
winds against him and hence devoted his time more on
research and development of this concept.
After few years of hard work and dedication, having
acquaintances in the political party he first approached Shri.
Narendra Modi, (at that time Chief Minister of Gujarat) and
explained him the concept of rugged computing. Shri.
Narendra Modi appreciated the concept and with his helps
Mr. Vijay started off working on the same. The company made
tie-up with Panasonic as authorised dealer in India. Initial, Mr.
Vijay Sheth with three partners introduced Rs 1 Crore as the
capital of company. In 2017 the broke the partnership with
Panasonic and tied up with Getac, Taiwan. Now the company
worth is $1 billion.

In THIRD WAVE EXIM I was assigned the topic Analytical study
of utility of rugged devices in various verticals of third wave
Exim, Delhi.” for my project work. I joined the company as an
Intern.

LEARNINGS

Understanding different organizations, their product and


procurement process and implementation of rugged laptop in
different organizations was part of the study. The attitude of
departments in various organizations which are involved in
purchasing e.g. Provisioning & logistics dept. in national &
federal forces is also understood from the study that I feel has
enriched my knowledge in understanding the consumer buying
behavior in these forces.
The process of business buying is also understood and how it is
different from consumer buying is also understood. With the
help of focused interviews with the officials and through
observation the potential and awareness level of the product in
Indian market is also understood by the study.
Apart from the various categories followed by the company to
promote the product is also known. The way in which B2B
marketing and selling is done in India and the way in which B2B
presentations have to be given to the clients by keeping into
considerations the details required by them as the time of
these presentations are very small is also understood. Here the
motive is to fetch maximum information and to tell maximum
details about the product. Also how to work effectively under
time constraint in corporate has been the main learning and what
problems occur in real time in corporate and how to actively and
efficiently deal with them is learned.
As per my contribution to Company I had done the ATEX
certification for Rugged tablets which are used in Gas bottling
plants ATEX certified (spark free) devices are needed to send
the data from bottling plants to Head Quarters, as the place is
highly flammable and after the recent explosion in one of the
bottling plant in Maharashtra Government has given strict
instructions to use rugged ATEX certified tablets. So, we have
done trials for the same in BPCL, Loni bottling plant, Ghaziabad.

Apart from this we have registered our self for the vendor
registration of WESEE(Government Organization).

My work and Progress till Now


Till now, in the process of learning I have learned about lot of
products and schemes of the company. We interact with
Customers and share the information and knowledge about
rugged defense services. We have assigned few accounts of
defence sector in which we have to visit and interact with the
supreme heads (i.e DIG,DGP) in different locations. I have to
meet them and inform them about the rugged products and
ask them for their requirements
I learnt how to approach the market and giving knowledge
about rugged services the company offers according to their
needs and preferences.
I met the DIG of Lucknow regarding the rugged products and
services.
I have also done a deep study of the services to be offered
before I went to Lucknow.
I have also looked in for new customers and made an excel
sheet regarding this.
This is what I have done till now.
