GO-DOWN WIRING CIRCUIT
Aim/Objective:
Equipment/Components Required:
Note: Theoretical calculations should be done before selecting the Ammeter/Voltmeter and connecting the
ciruit.
Precautions:
Switch 1 in the given circuit is SPST and switches 2,3,4 are SPDT. S-1 is
connected to the first terminal of S-2. Hence the circuit is complete. S-3 and S-4
are not connected to S-1 hence, the circuit is open.
In the given connection, S-1 is connected to the second terminal of S-2 and to
the first terminal of S-3. Hence, the circuit of L-2 is complete whereas it is open
for L-1 and L-3
In the given circuit, S-1 is connected to the first terminal of S-2. Hence the
circuit is complete.
In the given connection S-1 is switched off and connected to the first terminal of
S-2. S-3 and S-4 are in 1 position. The circuit is open as S-1 is off.
P = V I COS Ø
= 6 W / (12 V 1) = 0.5 A.
Fuse rating of the circuit = rounding off the current to the nearest 5
= 5A (Normally fuses are available in the ratings of 5A/10A/15A
Experimental Results:
Table No 1
Lamp-1 glows but L-2 and L-3 do not glow as the circuit is complete in L-1 but
open in L-2 and L-3. The main switch S1 is connected to the first terminal of S2
and forms a complete circuit and the current flows across Lamp-1
Lamp-2 glows in this case and L-1 and L-3 do not glow as S-3 is at position 2
and the circuit is complete for L-2 and the current flows across L-2
Lamp-1 glows and L-2 and L-3 do not glow as the circuit is complete for Lamp-
1. The circuit is open for L-2 and L-3.
Neither of the lamp glow as S-1 is switched off. Hence, all the circuits are open
and no current flows across the bulbs.
Neither of the lamp glow as the main switch S1 is off. Hence, all the circuits are
open and no current flows across them.
Neither of the lamps glow as S-1 is switched off. Hence, all the circuits are open
Note: Attach image/picture of the circuit connection on bread board and readings in Appendix
APPENDIX
[Display the ‘snapshot’ of circuit connection bread board and experimental readings and oscilloscope
waveforms.
All the figures should have ‘caption/title’ below the diagram and it should be referred in the report.
Any derivations pertaining to the experiment should be included such as ‘maximum power transfer theorem.]
