The ASAS community in its long history of communal existence has been an integrative association which is
continuously responding to the needs and challenges of its educational apostolate. These challenges which are both
internal and external in nature with focus on the K-12 program, resources allocations and development, sustainability of
quality management initiatives, educational technology, higher education standard mandates, financial sufficiency, and
strengthened religious vocation campaign synthesized what the ASOLC’s 21 st General Chapter assembly has identified
which call for synergized approaches and strategic actions.
Furthermore, the same 21st General Chapter Assembly also enshrines its vision of a unified system for inclusive
growth of ASAS which is described as “consolidation” in the communication issued by Sr. Niceta Vargas, OSA. This is
anchored on the 21st General Chapter Assembly Resolution #1 that states “that ASOLC schools collaborate, cooperate,
and complement each other for the unified development of personnel, students, structures and operations of educational
institutions”.
Relative to this, Sr. Emilia Lacuarta, OSA, Councilor on Apostolate conceived a proposed perspective for
Regional Integration of ASAS Schools in a Unified System. The paper has laid down socio-cultural basis in the light of
the ASOLC mission and objectives and has recommended propelling this cause by initiating consultative-discussions and
other concrete actions on the proposed integration which the council has set for four years.
Sr. Emilia Lacuarta, OSA, has decided to pilot the integration of LCCT and LCCB for modeling purposes for
other ASAS member schools. On June 30, 2015, a core group from these schools was established with Sr. Ma. Luz
Mijares, OSA, Sr. Emilia Lacuarta, OSA, Dr. Ignacio Cordova Jr, Ms. Edna Sebastian, Ms. Remedios Molinyawe and Mr.
Juan Matanguihan as members. Discussions of the group were focused on the integration concepts and elements which
would be considered in drafting the integration framework. Furthermore, the Unified La Consolacion College – South
Luzon (ULCC-SL) will hold the name for LCCT and LCCB integration as agreed by all members of the group.
In addition, La Consolacion College Tanauan and La Consolacion College Biñan shall be the pioneer unified
school among the Association of Schools of the Augustinian Sisters (ASAS).
