that store because there is a chance that if one person is doing this then there
are chances that her other co-workers might be doing it and

3. To what extent do you think your incentive scheme has contributed to Lola’s
actions?
 Sell as much as you want action was the main reason behind the Lola’s action.
 Promote utilitarianism which focuses on the consequences of an action and
encourages the good action and good for everyone who is involved in the
process of doing business.
 Store manager promoted the egoism by giving the responsibility to the
employees, which can lead to destruction of good culture. Promoting
individualism in business is not got for business, it is good only in other
aspect.
 Yes, no one complained about her but taking actions as soon as possible is
required to maintain the decorum and spreading this among other employees.

4. How would you approach this situation as Lola’s manager?


 As soon as possible talk to Lola about this situation and make sure she does it
only till some extend but do not lie about the product specifications and do not
make comments like “This company does not make odd number of shoe pair”.
What if a company representative visit and gets to know that they are selling
the wrong pitch for their product which can lead to customer dissatisfaction
and can hamper the company’s image.
 Write a code of conduct for soliciting customers, communicating with the
customers, pricing, and selling methods.
 Take immediate action by reducing the commission price or make the limited
number of sales for period so that everyone gets a chance to earn equally.

2. Analyse the use of triage using each of the four Western modern ethical theories
and the conclusion based on each.
 Deontology: Theory of deontology states that in decision making process one
should follow rules and ethics. In simple words this theory means that person
will keep his or her duties ethically correct. When a person decides the reason
behind his or her logical and rational thinking is not mentioned in this theory
this is the only flaw this theory has.
Conclusion: this theory provides a consistency in decision, because the
decision will be based on his or her timings open set of norms. As a definition
of deontology is mentioned above talks about the decision-making process one
should follow rules and ethics which is made by them, and this theory also
indicates the individual decision in triage situation the corrective decision will
come from as per individuals perspective, rather than following the rules and
regulations this theory will decisions take decisions as per individuals
perspective.
 Utilitarianism: Theory talks on the best option that could yield the greater
benefit to most of the people. This theory also talks about the consequences
which needs to be taken into consideration for the actions. We can predict the
outcome by certain experience, but it would give the result on the predicted
outcomes is not certain this is one of the drawbacks this theory has.
Conclusion: The comparison between the materialistic basis such as expenses
for the hospital against the intangible gains like emotions is not ethical. The
comparison basis decision it's good for the trial situation to save as many lives
as possible.
 Rights: Rights are highly prioritised decisions which is given by the society
for the individuals and large population adheres to those rights. Rights must be
obeyed by every individual which are determined by the society and culture
which can be different for every individual, and this is the biggest
complication this theory has.
Conclusion: In triage situation there are chances of disobeying the decisions
and the norms which is set up by the society due to personal’s values, ethics,
and morals.
 Virtue: The decision taken by this theory is based on the individuals behaviour
that is by judging them on their current situation. The decision is precise and
cannot be change of this person.
Conclusion: In triage situation the virtue ethical theory person will try his or
her best to save a person’s life if it is critical.

3. Which of the theories favours triage when considered from the perspective of an
old, diabetic, COVID patient with high lung infection whose chances of survival are
low (say 15%)?
 Deontology: This theory talks about the rules and ethics, so an ethical person
and which is also morally good, I will try to save that person by taking good
care, but as my duty is to save the person so I will focus more on the person
who has high survival rate.
