EARTHQUAKE DRILL
NARRATIVE REPORT

June 20, 2019

Recently, earthquakes occurred in different places in the Philippines. Earthquake

is not new to the pupils especially those who experienced the 7.0 magnitude that strike
in the year 2013. The Department of Education has been implementing the quarterly
Earthquake Drill in schools to prepare the children for the Do’s and Don’ts in case an
earthquake may strike.
The Calumboyan Elementary School conducted the Earthquake drill on June 20,
2019 at 2:00 in the afternoon as mandated by the Department of Education. With the
usual routine, the classes were reminded about the bell which signals the start of the
drill. Each class will perform the DUCK, COVER and HOLD inside their classrooms,
and did the head count before going outside. All the classes neatly went outside their
classrooms and gathered on the earthquake evacuation area which is the school
ground, away from the buildings and trees. I conducted the orientation, discussed
about the Do’s and Don’ts during an earthquake and have some pupils modeled the
duck, cover and hold onstage and let the children follow what has been executed by
the selected pupils. The children obediently followed the instructions. They also
actively answered questions pertaining to the drill. Before going back to their respective
classrooms, they did the head count and the earthquake was successfully done.
