2. Folk/ Ethnic dance – This dance is a dance particularly on people that is formed and
handed down from generation to generation. Folk dance are formed and
make progress through secularization and became part of any tradition and
culture. Ethnic dance has its ethnicity from a local and/or ethnic groups
that expresses their tribe’s belief, aesthetics and customs.
E.g. Folk Dance: Tinikling, Cariñosa, Pandanggo sa Ilaw
Ethnic Dance: Dance from any tribe groups from the Mountain
of Cordillera
3. Social and Ballroom Dance – Social and ballroom dance is a form of dance usually seen
in a setting of events and gatherings. It is a recreational dance that is
usually performed with a partner that requires skills on specific type of
dances in a formal setting. It is called often social dance because it is
meant to dance with a partner and can’t be in an individual manner.
E.g. Dancesport
4. Recreational Dance – Recreational dance refers to any form of dancing or dance
movements that is done primarily for socialization, health benefits,
educational purposes and aims to undergo have benefits through dancing;
it includes the benefits of relaxation, entertainment, and enjoyment. This is
usually seen on an informal gatherings, events and setting.
E.g. Includes dance mixers, square dance round and couple dances.
These dances have simple patterns and combinations of
walking steps, polka step and the waltz step.
5. Creative Dance – This dance requires of a mastery of two (2) skills of mastery and
artistry in dancing. In these 2 skills which that are combined makes
creative dance a high and powerful form of dancing. This includes the
development of both artistic, creativity and technicality skills at the same
time builds the exploration of movement.
6. Theatrical Dance - Theatrical dance is any form of dance that is performed for an
audience, as opposed to social dance, which is primarily social in nature.
Theatrical dance is usually performed in a theater or another public venue.
7. Fundamental Rhythms – Fundamental rhythm leads the general rule for dancing, it
provides a variety of basic movement to experience. It is an activity that
individuals need to response physically and emotionally to music or any
rhythmic accompaniment. It enhances the capability of an artists to know
and manage beats, tempo pattern and rhythm of any musical piece in order
for them to supply best dance movements.
