B. Best Practices

The SLAC on Teacher Induction Program of Taytay Sub-Office focused on the


understanding of the Newly-Hired Teachers on their duties, functions, and responsibility as
beginning teachers; indicating their strong commitment and positive outlook to their
teaching to make them effective and efficient in their school.

The following are the Best Practices implemented in the flow of the TIP training:

flow of the training;

The facilitators shared their expertise and real life experiences relevant to their
topics in the modules to be able to inspired Newly-Hired Teachers;

The facilitators showed various examples relevant to the topics;

The participants imparted their ideas and knowledge they acquired from the
various session by answering the questions given by the facilitators;

The moderator of the Google Classroom posted all other activities for self-
phased learning to assessed the participants’ retention and understanding they
acquired from the modules 1 to module 3;

The facilitators gave varied virtual games as a way of motivating their


participants and prize of load for all the winners;

The participants showed enthusiasm in engaging in all activities presented by


their facilitators in the training;

All participants shared also their prior experiences that boosted their
confidence as a teacher.

C. Challenges During the Implementation

1. Technical issues – some of the participants and speakers have poor/ weak internet
connection.
2. Distractions - teachers' attention was sometimes divided because the schedule of the
program was also the time when parents are actively asking for assistance regarding
the modules and activities.
3. Staying motivated – since it’s a virtual discussion lack of in-person interaction made
it quite difficult to stay motivated.

D. Measures to the Address the Challenges

1. Provided school as alternative venue for new teachers who have internet connectivity
issues

2. Facilitators conducted a special session to orient new teachers in using Google
Classroom
3. Monitoring of the output submitted by the participants via Google classroom.
4. Emphasizing to the new teachers to attend religiously on this training because this will
help them in their teaching profession.
5. To maximize the time allotted for each discussant, if some technical problems arise the
next speaker is always ready to begin with the presentation.
6. There is always back-up for each presentation because of poor connectivity sometimes.
