Camping :
Rock Climbing :
Rock climbing is one of the most dangerous sports activities which requires a
strong mental control, agility, flexibility, endurance and various coordinative
abilities such as balance, coordination, reaction, ability, rhythm etc. In rock
climbing, the objective or goal of a climber is to reach the end point or summit
of a predetermined route without falling. Competitions are also organised in
rock climbing. These competition have objectives either to complete the pre-
fixed route in the minimum time or to attain the farthest point on difficult route.
There are different types of climbing such as Aid climbing, Free climbing,
Traditional climbing, etc.
Trekking :
Trekking is an adventure sport. It is not an easy task to do trekking. I needs a
lot of courage and confidence along with a strong physique. A trek is a long
journey on foot especially in the mountains.
a) Easy trekking : The individuals specially the beginners are offered easy
treks.
There is no difficult climbing. It means there is no climbing on high altitudes.
Such treks usually provide colourful visuals of the whole series of the
mountain ranges.
River Rafting :
River rafting is another adventure sport. It is a river journey under taken on a raft
or boat made of inflatable material. The difficulty of river rafting is from grade I to
VI.
Grade I : Grade is a very small areas, easy waves, mainly flat water. Beginners
can enjoy this type of water.
Grade II : Grade II is some rough water. There may be some rocks. It may require
some manoeuvring.
Grade III : There may be difficult passages. Due to bubble, the water may look
white. This type of water may require significant manoeuvring in the raft. At this
level prior experience and strong paddling skills are required.
Grade IV : There may be large waves. There may be rocks. Sharp Manoeuvres
may be required. This grade should not be attempted without proper experience.
Grade VI : Rafters can expect to face huge waves. This level is very tough which
demands great physical and mental toughness. At this level may be injury or
death. Successfully completion of such level without serious injury or death is
usually thought to be due to luck or extraordinary skill.
Mountaineering :
Surfing :
Surfing is a surface water sport in which the wave rider, referred to as
a surfer, rides on the forward or deep face of a moving wave, which is
usually carrying the surfer towards the shore. Waves suitable for
surfing are primarily found in the ocean, but can also be found in lakes
or in rivers in the form of a standing wave or tidal bore. However,
surfers can also utilize artificial waves such as those from boat waves
and the waves created in artificial wave pools.
Read and obey the signs. Don’t swim directly after meal. Don’t swim
under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Always swim under
supervision or with a friend. Always swim or surf at places patrolled by
surf lifesavers or life guard.
