Kitchen Sink Prayers 2021
#kitchensinkprayers
If we took a poll, we’re willing to bet almost all of you would say you long for a deep and abundant
prayer life. But we’re also willing to bet that most of you would say that between grocery runs,
schooling, work commitments, diaper changes, and the nonstop needs of children, a robust prayer
life feels impossible.
But as believers, the truly impossible thing is to try to faithfully tend to the needs of our families,
vocations, neighborhoods, and churches without time spent in prayer.
At R|M, we want to help you see that, while the busy reality of daily life creates tension for us, it
doesn’t mean prayer has to go on the back burner. Prayer is a necessity—a spiritual discipline that
leads us to encounter God (Jer. 33:3), changes our will to God’s will (Matt. 6:10), and is a form of
worship (Col. 4:2). Not only that, Scripture tells us prayer can bring healing (James 5:16),
deliverance from troubles (Ps. 34:17), and strength to our hearts and minds (Phil. 4:6-7).
With that in mind, we’ve created a resource full of prayers—kitchen sink prayers, to be exact!
(#kitchensinkprayers) The idea is that each time we’re at a kitchen sink—whether washing hands
or dishes, rinsing fruit, or filling a water bottle in the breakroom—we pray. As something that
most of us visit several times a day, a kitchen sink can prompt a regular rhythm of prayer in our
lives. What a privilege!
While the list of things we can pray for is never-ending, we wanted to start somewhere. In this
document, you’ll find 30 prayers to print, cut, and display next to the kitchen sink. If the sink isn’t
the best place for you, be creative! You can use these as bookmarks or stick them in your car. The
idea is to pray for a specific topic or group of moms each day, in addition to praying about
anything on your heart. We hope that as you read the topic, Bible verse prompt, and special focus
prayer ideas,* you’ll think of moms in your real life. We hope that you expand on these and talk to
God about moms you know, asking him for detailed things and entrusting them to him in faith!
If it feels too overwhelming to do this for 30 days straight, try just doing one or two a week until it
becomes a habit. We hope this small practice can jump-start a deep and abiding habit of prayer in
the R|M community.
*Please note that the topic selections and special areas of focus are not meant to be exhaustive, nor are
they designed as a comprehensive reflection of the ministry’s values or belief of what is or isn’t important
to pray for. In a fallen world, the need for prayer and petition is endless. Please pray for what the Lord
specifically lays on your heart.
