Unitor Fireblanket
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has added to its range of equipment a Fire Blanket
specifically designed and manufactured to the new European Standard for Fire
Blanket.
When removed from the container the blanket is held in the shield position,
protecting the user from the fire. When draped over a fire the blanket starves the
fire of oxygen, leading to rapid extinction.
Fire Blankets can be used to wrap around a person whose clothes are on fire and
can also be used to wrap around a hot or burning object for removal to a safe
place.
Unitor Fire Blanket specifically designed and manufactured to the new European
Standard for FireBlankets.

Description:
The Guardman fully synthetic fire hose is a result of many years of development within fire hose production. The Guardman hose
is produced in one continuous process where nitrile rubber is forced through a circular woven textile. This gives an inner/outer cover
with good adhesion between textile and rubber.
After vulcanization, the hoses undergo an obligatory pressure test and control, before they are distributed to our customers.
The Guardman quality is approved all over the world and has acquired a position as the fire hose of the future.
Guardman is a wear-and-tear resistant hose which gives a long lifetime under all uses and conditions.
The Guardman is constructed to tolerate almost all conditions; also for purposes beyond fire fighting, for example transport of liquids
in the shipping industry, offshore operations, industry and agriculture.
The Guardman is suitable for climate temperatures from -0 °C to +70 °C, intermittent use up to +00 °C.
Description:
The Mertex fire hose is a fully synthetic textile hose, woven of robust polyester yarn and is inside coated with Polyurethane (TPU).
The Mertex is excellent under all climatic conditions, -50 °C to +75 °C, and has good mechanical properties.
In European fire fighting practice it is usual to bind hoses for delivery and suction operation with wire. The wire is applied by means
of a manual operated binding device as pictured.

Uniscape 15-H
Description:
Uniscape 5-H is the Short Duration Compressed Air Emergency Escape Breathing
Device [EEBD] from Unitor, providing respiratory protection in toxic and oxygen
deficient atmospheres. Uniscape 5-H offers a duration of 5 minutes for a safe
escape. Designed for use on board of ships, in chemical industries, off-shore oil
rigs, refineries, water utilities and confined spaces, the Uniscape 5-H is light
and compact and very easy to use. It can either be carried by the user or kept in
readiness close to the workplace for immediate access in case of emergency.
The Uniscape 5-H is supplied in a fluorescent protective carrying bag ensuring
high visibility and protection from the environment. It consists of a litre 00 bar
compressed air cylinder with automatic air supply valve and pressure indicator,
a high visibility hood with oro-nasal facemask, large visor and elastic neck seal,
and a well visible pneumatic end-of-service time indicator turning red before the
cylinder pressure is exhausted.
For easy use and to keep potential users acquainted with the Uniscape 5-H, the
protective carrying bag has clear donning instructions in 4 pictographs. The use
is very simple – pull the firing strap, don the hood and make your way to safety.
Pulling the firing strap opens the zipper giving access to the hood, automatically
starting the air supply, in one simple action the set is already delivering breathing
air to the hood when it is donned. Uniscape 5-H, the Emergency Escape Breat-
hing Device is certified to EN 46 for a duration of up to 5 minutes. It meets

In many environments and in many kinds of work, protection for personnel against
dust and gases must be provided.
A filter mask may very often be the most convenient form of protection not only
against dangerous gases but also against other harmful air contaminants when
the contaminated air contains at least 0% by volume of oxygen.
The Advantage filter masks feature a clean and simplified design, it weighs
up to 40 percent less than conventional filter masks. The Hycar rubber face piece
has the comfort and feel, usually provided by silicone based masks, but with
greater chemical permeation resistance. The nose cup improves comfort and
eliminates lens fogging. The flexible urethane lens contributes a better face piece
seal, improved field of vision and comfort. The head harness is fully elastic with
6 adjustment straps.
Mechanical speaking diaphragm is standard. The advantage series of filters are
interchangeable with the advantage 00 half mask.
The Advantage 00 Filter Half Mask is a new generation of half masks designed
to provide the wearer with a high degree of comfort. The new multiflex system is
a pliable combination of rubber and plastic that provides a virtually customized fit.
The pressure is equalized on the face seal area so there are not pressure points.
The mask is designed with only four components: Face piece blank, four point
yoke, inhalation valve, exhalation valve and head harness.
This Mask has the same features as the advantage filter mask, only fitted
with an EN 48- threaded connection.
Note: the filters for this mask will not fit the advantage 00 half mask.

convenient standard.
According EN 0 testing of air quality for the following apparatus is recommended for:
Testing the quality of air from high-pressure systems is generally done on:
• Any contamination in a concentration which has toxic or health influence, must be lower than local regulation prescribes
• Presence of smell and taste. (Should not occur)
Testing the quality of air from high pressure systems on contents of:
• Carbon Dioxide
• Carbon Monoxide
• Oil
• Water vapor
• Nitrous gases (local regulations)
The Unitor Breathing air test kit provides adequate and quick means to make sure that your air quality for above products is in order.

Description:
Unitor Medical Oxygen System meets the latest IMO IMDG/MFAG regulations for
shipboard use to supply Oxygen to two persons at the same time.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has three solutions, which meet the IMDG/FMAG
amendment as some Flag states require cylinder to be installed outside the
Hospital and some require the safety valve outlet from the regulator to be lead to
open air by piping.
In the IMO Bedside solution, the oxygen cylinder is placed between two beds,
mounted against the bulkhead with the cylinder rack. The regulator with a fixed
flow of 50 liters/min, is mounted on top of the cylinder and the rail is mounted
on the bulkhead. The double oxygen outlet is fixed to the rail and the hose is
connected to the regulator. Two flow meters, with quick connections, are placed in
the double oxygen outlet, which enables the oxygen flow to be regulated between
0- liters/min. A humidifier is connected to each flow meter and this has a
disposable oxygen therapy mask attached to it.
IMO outside solution, the oxygen cylinder is placed in the cylinder rack and is
either mounted directly on the bulkhead or in a cabinet. The gas is piped through
to the ships Hospital and the internal equipment is as described above.
Product Features:
All equipment supplied in one box ready for easy installation.
Installation instructions are included.
MOX-40 cylinder is approved worldwide due the use of PISS valve (Pin Index
Safety System).
Customer Benefits:
• The installation can be completed without any trouble during a voyage and can
easily be performed by the Crew.
• separate flow meters that provides independent flows to each patient.
• Unitor deposit cylinders (MOX-, MOX-5 and MOX-40) can be refilled/exchan-
ged. Refilling of vessel owned cylinders with medical gases is becoming com-
plex, time consuming and in some areas even impossible.
• The equipment is available in our extensive Network
• Future service is supported by our service organization including replacement of
components.

The Unitor Dry Chemical Powder system can be installed as a central system, a modular system or a combination hybrid system. The
system design and choice of materials adapted for the marine environment is the result of decades of experience in the supply of fire
fighting systems to newbuildings, incorporating the experience gained from servicing this type of system in operation. The system is
completely self-contained, and not dependent on any external power supply. All three versions comply with the "IMO Code for the
Construction and Equipment of Ships Carrying Liquefied Gases in Bulk".
• The powder central, containing - powder tanks, nitrogen cylinders and selector valves, located outside the cargo area, with a
capacity determined by the number of connected hose stations and monitors.
• Monitors and hose stations located on the cargo deck to protect the manifold respectively at any point in the cargo area with at
least two hoses. The monitor is operated from an adjacent release cabinet or remotely from aft of the cargo area, while the hose
stations have an integrated release cabinet.

General
Unitor HiFoam Fire Extinguishing System is approved by
major Classification Societies and accepted by flag authorities
for use as fire protection system for machinery spaces and
pump rooms. The foam concentrate complies with requirement
of European Council Directive 96/98 on Marine Equipment
(MED).
The system has been extensively tested and complies with
SOLAS IMO MSC/Circ. 668, 78 and foam testing to IMO
MSC/Circ. 670.
System Description
The system can be designed and installed both as a total
flooding as well as a local system for protection of machinery
spaces (such as engine room, purifier room, incinerator room)
and pump rooms.
The system consists of a storage tank for foam liquid at atmospheric pressure, foam pump and proportioner located in the foam
central room. The foam concentrate is mixed with water in the proportioner and discharged through the foam generators. The
nominal working pressure is 6 bar at the foam generators. The system can use both fresh or sea water.
Foam generators are installed at the highest level in the protected space and at strategically locations above high risks areas. The
water/foam mixture is expanded with air in the generators. The air used for producing foam is drawn from the protected space, thus,
no ducting and fans for external air is required. The foam produced by the foam generators fall directly by gravity to cover the entire
protected space.
The system can be remotely operated by a main control cabinet located centrally with local control cabinets for operational flexibility.
Manual operation is also possible by opening the appropriate valves and starting the water and foam pump manually.
Unitor Hifoam System can be designed for sequential release by splitting the system and spaces in several distribution lines. This
unique operation feature optimized protection of high risk areas as well as reduces water capacity required. It can also be combined
with the Unitor Local Application Fire Fighting System for providing total fire protection for engine room.
Installation
• Low working pressure (6 bar) – low installation costs using PN6 dry
piping system
• Unitor can deliver the components in modular unit, reducing shipyards
installation work
• sizes of foam generators – flexibility in design and installation

Description:
The Unitor portable foam applicators are a supplement to the foam monitors and are supplied in accordance with specified requirements.
Sheltered areas not reachable by the foam monitors can be covered by a foam applicator. This gives increased flexibility.
Different applicators are available, covering varying needs for proportioning ratio, capacity and working pressure for particular vessel.
Typically, an applicator needs to be supplied with a fire hose and a foam concentrate container and is stored in a foam station on
deck or engine room.
Note
It is vital that the foam concentrate is suited to the cargo being carried.
Water is ineffective, since the burning liquid will float on it and be spread further.
Product features
The applicator is made of stainless steel. Its low weight makes it easy to operate and has attached a self-suction hose, so no addi-
tional proportioner is needed.
Wilhelmsen Ships Equipment offers a complete annual service program for the system, which meets all relevant requirements.
Compliance
MSC.7 (8), Ch. 4, Sec. .
Customer benefits
• Low cost Foam applicator, as no additional proportioner is required
• Light weight, so easy to carry
• Rapid connection to fire main
• Can be used even with low-pressure water supply because the proportioner/mixer is fitted on the end of the line and assuring less
loss of pressure.

General
Unitor Deep Fat Cooking Equipment Fire Extinguishing
System, is approved by European Council Directive 96/98 on
Marine Equipment (MED) for use as fixed fire-extinguishing
system for galley’s deep fat fryers onboard ships.
The system has been tested according to ISO 57:009,
and complies with SOLAS requirements.
System Description
This self-contained automatic fire extinguishing system
provides simple and effective protection against fire for
deep fat. It is capable of quick detection and extinguishing
spilt blazing oil fires.
The system can be designed to provide protection for one
deep fat fryer (maximum surface area 0. m) and up to three deep fat fryers (maximum surface area 0.44 m each).
The system uses water with additive (foam) to extinguish fire. The AFFF foam increases the wetting power and penetration capacity
of water by reducing its water surface tension. It forms a highly mobile watertight film, which reforms immediately when the surface
is disturbed. The film is impermeable to flammable liquid vapour discharge and prevents re-ignition. CO gas stored in a cartridge is
used to propel the extinguishing agent. The discharge nozzles spray the extinguishing agent onto the fire, which are installed above
the fryers but below the galley hood.
Detection for automatic operation is by thermal fuses. These fuses trigger at temperature equal to 0 deg C or higher.
The system can also be activated manually.
System Layout
The system consists of one 9 litres extinguisher with AFFF additive (CE certified). It must be installed near the protected risk.
A diffusion strip is fitted with one full jet nozzle for each risk area to be protected (stainless steel nozzle bracket and nozzles).
The maximum length of pipe work between the extinguisher and the last nozzle must not be more than 9 mtr.
A fuse chain equipped with thermal fuses ( per risk) installed in the top centre of the cooker hood triggers the system automatically.
The fuse chain is at the same height as the diffusion strip (.5 mtr to . mtr) and is installed above each risk area.
A manual control is installed near to the extinguisher or at a visible place for the galley crew.
Installation
• Easy and low cost installation with standard components
• All components on the galley hood in stainless steel
• All tubing and fittings of low pressure type

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION:
To make up a complete Membrane Inert Gas System, compressed air normally has to be provided from dedicated air compressor(s).
The productivity of the membranes improves at increased pressure and a most effective membrane system will operate from
4 bar(g) air supply. The 4 bar air can be provided by normal industrial type oil lubricated screw compressors. By using compressors
with modulating control the pressure can be maintained constant, independent on the air flow requirement. This air will be saturated
with water and contaminated by traces of oil and particulates. A feed air treatment system is required to provide clean air free from
particles and oil. This clean air will allow for a high quality nitrogen product, free of contaminates, and will ensure long life for the
membrane system.
The air separation system consists of parallel sets of membrane modules. The Nitrogen leaves at essentially the same pressure as
the entering air. The oxygen-enriched flow is directed to permeate discharge at atmospheric pressure and is to be vented to a safe
area. Down stream of the membranes, a pressure control valve is to keep the membrane system at a pre-adjusted constant pressure.
This control valve is operated using the analogue signal from the oxygen analyzer(s) that will provide automatic oxygen control.
Depending on the application, the nitrogen can be delivered directly to the protected space or stored in a receiver tank. A high pres-
sure booster compressor can be included to provide nitrogen at high pressures, such as for recharging of nitrogen cylinders.
Wilhelmsen Ships Equipment has a global service network which can offer regular interval service agreements. In case for any urgent
needs, the Nitrogen systems service personnel is available at the following locations:

Common for all services is Unitor’s well-documented service procedures and reports. They have been developed over the years and
are now used as «the standard» in the marine world. On the following two pages you will find some examples of why we take things
so seriously in order to comply with you quality and safety needs:
CO2 systems
Wilhelmsen Ships Service carries out both full inspections of the entire system and verification of the contents, in accordance with
IMO Circ. 1318.
Due to the physical nature of CO, the CO goes from liquid to gaseous phase at approx 7 degrees C. That means that if cylinder
temperature is higher than that, manual weighing is required to get a proper verification of the contents. If you use a refrigeration unit
to cool down the cylinders before an inspection, make sure that the cylinder temperature reaches below the mentioned limit. Other
service companies claiming that using a Liquid Level Indicator will work in hot climates might approach you. But remember that the
physical nature of CO prohibits the use of a Liquid Level Indicator if cylinder temperature is above 7 degrees. There are simply no
«level» to measure.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service is regarded as one of the very few companies capable of doing a proper service on CO low-pressure
systems. To avoid icing problems like improper readings, blockage or restricted release possibilities, Wilhelmsen Ships Service sets
the highest requirements to the CO gas and the refilling procedures. Therefore Wilhelmsen Ships Service always measures the dew
point in the tank(s) and the gas itself prior to filling. This to ensure trouble-free operation in the future.
Foam concentrate is a complicated substance and can be destroyed easily if not Handled properly. If you are in doubt, our Foam
Specialists are standing by to assist you. Simply call your nearest Customer Services and ask for the Foam Specialist.

going through troubleshooting program
and ending with very complicated system
calibration including PLC software
verifications/modification if required. Once
the capacity of Inert Gas System is critical
for discharge cargo operation we serve full
run test to verify parameters if they still
meet initial specification (total discharge
rate). Considering urgency of the matter for
the ship during cargo operation at port the
service is provided on short notice.
