Assignment Chapters 7-9

Research shows that learning is deeper when you are able to reflect on your
own experiences as part of course related learning. The collection of
personal reflections that comes from weekly journal entries will help you
think about your own professional learning in a personal and meaningful
way. The journal entries are private and should be shared only between you
and your professor. As a guideline, each question should be answered
using a minimum of 250 words, however please be aware that
grading is not just predicated on word count.

This assignment is due in the FOL drop box Friday at 11:59pm the week it is
due.
No Late submissions will be accepted
The file must be saved in a format which can be opened in MS Word. No
macro enabled files.
This submission is individual work

You can earn up to 5 points for each reflection question. Each question will
be graded according to the following scale.
Points may be deducted for grammar/spelling

Chapter 7 Questions
1. Major stressors for me that affect my performance at work include…

The quantity of work that must be completed as well as the rate at


which workers must execute their tasks is serious pressures in my
life that have an influence on my job performance. Career worries
include concerns about work stability, fear of job obsolescence,
under- and over-promotion, and, more broadly, issues regarding
professional progress. Physiological and social circadian rhythms are
disturbed when people work rotating shifts or permanent night
shifts. Poor interpersonal relationships are commonly mentioned as
a source of stress at work. Poor interpersonal relationships can vary
from harsh treatment to more serious incidents like bullying or
violence. Jobs that are excessively repetitious, do not use a range of
my talents, or do not provide me with a measure of control over how
and when they complete their tasks, can be a source of stress.

2. I use the following intervention strategies to reduce my personal


stress levels because….
To lower my own stress levels, I employ the following intervention
techniques, do not take on more work than I can’t handle. Make sure
that I have enough free time, talk with my friends and coworkers
and Make exercise a priority and use relaxing methods.
These are very effective in decreasing my work-related stress and
strain by minimizing or eliminating the real stressors. Individuals
who are subjected to high amounts of stress for an extended period
of time generate strain reactions that might be psychological,
physical, behavioral, or organizational in nature. As a result, these
types of strain reactions can have an impact on the company as well
as people's lives. As an Employee my stress and strain should be
reduced by removing causes of stress from the workplace and is
helping me to concentrate more on m work and thereby improve my
performance in job. Long-term stress prevention and management
can reduce the risk of heart disease, obesity, high blood pressure,
and depression also.so it will help me to be satisfied with the
environment that I am living with.

better than a “no harassment” focused approach because….

I believe that a respectful work approach is better than a no


harassment focused approach.
A workplace characterized by trust and the respectful treatment of
employees at every level provides powerful support for job
satisfaction, employee engagement. And most importantly stress-
free environment. Stress responses can be psychological, physical,
behavioral, or organizational in character when people are exposed
to high levels of stress over a lengthy period. As a result, these sorts
of strain reactions can have a negative influence on both the
organization and the lives of its employees. As an employee, I
believe that stress and strain should be decreased by eliminating
stressors from the workplace. harassment in workplace is also a
reason for stress and the employee will not be fully engaged.
engaged employees are those most likely to contribute the
discretionary effort needed to drive high performance at both the
individual and organizational levels.
Also From an organizational standpoint, the Respect in the
Workplace program is a low-cost intervention that does not demand
a lot of resources (e.g., time, money, planning and development).
According to a recent review of the program, there were There are
several advantages to enrolling in the program. In comparison to a
control group Participants in the Respect in the Workplace program
reported a modest improvement in workplace civility compared to
those who did not get training.
So, I believe in respectful work approach.
