IV – Essay:
1. Name some real life applications of trigonometry.

- In real life application of trigonometry, the height of a building can be calculated using
trigonometry because you may easily determine the height of a structure if you know the
distance from where you observe it and the angle of elevation. Similarly, you may find another
side in the triangle if you know the value of one side and the angle of depression from the top
of the building.

2. Prove the following:

a. csc A = 1 / sin A

To prove the following in csc A = 1/sin A you’ll just need to multiply both sides
cosecant so you would have csc A theta times sin A data on the left equal on the right
that’s just giving it over and the divide by (sin). So you would have cosecant theta is
equal to 1/sin A.

= Sin A = 1/csc A
= Csc A Sin A = 1
= Csc A = 1 /sin A
.
b. sec A = 1 / cos A

To prove the following in sec A = 1/cos A you’ll just need to multiply both sides
cosecant so you would have sec A theta times cos A data on the left equal on the right
that’s just giving it over and the divide by (cos). So you would have secant theta is
equal to 1/cos A.

= cos A = 1/sec A
= sec A cos A = 1
= sec A = 1 /cos A

c. cot A = 1 / tan A

To prove the following in cot A= 1/tan A you’ll just need to multiply both sides
cosecant so you would have cot A theta times tan A data on the left equal on the right
that’s just giving it over and the divide by (tan). So you would have cotangent (cot) A
theta is equal to 1/tan A.

= tan A = 1/sec A
= cot A tan A = 1
= cot A = 1 /tan A
