Being a leader is a huge responsibility because people will look up to you and learn a lot
of skills and traits from you. So I personally take the responsibility of being a leader
seriously. Before I used to micromanage my team to ensure maximum results. I did that
not because I didn’t believe in them. In fact, I did it just because I had more experience
in this field and I knew what worked the best for our target market. After doing lots of
reading for the past few weeks, I have grown out of it and I will change my mindset, I will
lead my team by example, and compassion. After reading about the SCARF and NVC
tools, I have learned a lot, and of course, I will use what I have learned to become a
better leader.

Firstly, I will ensure that I communicate well with my team members. I will ensure
that they understand the instructions that they are supposed to follow, and what is to be
expected from them. Moreover, I will show them their rights and I will make clear that I
am fair to each one of them. Secondly, I will sympathize with them. Showing sympathy
and compassion will lead my team members to build a stronger bond with me and they
will know that their leader is there for them when they need me. Thirdly, I will give each
one of them equal opportunities to learn and grow from their skills so that they will be
more interested in working and achieving good results. Fourthly, I will arrange as many
gatherings and meetings for all the team members as possible. Getting to know each
other better will increase their relatedness. That will cause them to feel that they are all
a part of a family and they should help and push each other to excel. Fifthly, I will give
them an opportunity for each one of them to think about their mistakes, reflect and
self-feed back. When I give feedback, I will try to put it in a positive way so that they can
improve on their mistakes without losing their motivation to work. Sixthly, As soon as I
see good results coming, I will start giving them more freedom and flexibility with their
working hours. Of course, I will set specific hours and tasks to do, but it will be up to
them when to do those tasks during that specific day. Lastly, I will make sure that we
have review and discussion meetings as often as possible so that we can share ideas.

All I have mentioned above will increase their status. Relatedness, fairness,
autonomy, certainty, status, compassion, and communications will make the team
stronger. When the team is connected and each person knows their tasks and how to do
them, it will allow each one of us to work more effectively. Of course, there will be
difficulties along the way, but as a team, we will work hand in hand to overcome them
and to achieve the best possible result.
