Introduction
The Organization’s need for drivers
Driver employees in the organization comprise about 17.4 % of the total population. This generates a
need to have a consistent pipeline of drivers to satisfy the organization needs as it arises as well as
emphasize the organization’s confidence to take on new projects.

Driver types
Six types of licenses are required in the organization to operate the fleet

 Heavy Duty: transport vehicles over 3 tons


 Light Duty: transport vehicles less than 3 tons
 Heavy Mechanical Plant Operator: vehicle with mechanical machinery over 3 tons
 Light Mechanical Plant Operator: vehicle with mechanical machinery less than 3 tons
 Heavy Bus: a bus with a capacity of more than 36 passenger
 Light Bus: a bus with a capacity fewer than 36 passenger

Stages of Driver Recruitment


The process of driver recruitment is divided into 3 main stages:
1. Source & Screen
2. Interview and Technical Test
3. Onboarding

1- Source & Screen
1.1 Screening of submitted resumes
The resumes are collected and screened as per the criteria of selection. The longlist of chosen candidates
is prioritized as per the experience giving preference to the candidates with waste management
experience, construction and other similar fields and availability giving preference to those who are active
job seekers and can join immediately
the criteria of selecting a candidate for interview

 UAE Driver’s License obtained for more than 2 year


 Professional experience in driving more than 2 years
 Relevance of industry (Waste Management, Construction, transportation)
 Availability of candidate in the UAE
Upon completing the screening, the selected longlist of candidates are divided into batches to be
contacted on the scheduled interview invitation days. Each batch should contain the driver breakdown
that is appropriate to the organization’s demand for various vehicle type drivers. The batches should be
marked with a date to contact and kept ready for the day to be contacted

1.2 Contact candidates for Interview and test


On interview invitation days, the allocated batch for that date is revealed and all candidates listed
in the batch are contacted to be interviewed and tested on the following week. The interview
schedule should be divided into days of specific driver license type having maximum 2 license
types per day. Each call should be a maximum of 5 minutes confirming the following
information
 Name
 Interest to join Bee’ah
 Type of license and confirm possession of license
 Status of current employment
 Status of residence visa
After confirmation and if found satisfactory, the candidate is given an interview and testing date
according to held license and will be requested to bring a passport copy, residence visa copy, 12
passport size pictures, printed copy of Emirates ID and printed copy of UAE driver’s license
1.3 Finalizing the shortlist
At the end of the sourcing and screening stage, the shortlisted candidates are sent to the interviewer and
test administrator of the interview and testing process. Each day will be dedicated to a maximum of 2
license types and have a list of the candidates with details of their name, position to be interviewed for,
nationality, license type.
The interviewer and technical test administrator should confirm receiving the schedule and act on
preparing the interview location and testing vehicles or machinery as per the schedule

2.1 The interview process
the interview day starts with the preparation of the interview room; a member of the respective
department should be present in all interviews. The candidates will be invited one by one and will be
assessed according to the below criteria:

 Confirm candidate holds the appropriate license


 General acceptable hygiene
 Basic spoken and written English
 Experience in the roads and street of the UAE
 Experience in driving the targeted vehicle
 Flexibility to work shifts and overtime
 Team work and assistance of colleagues

2.2 Technical testing


Technical assessor will prepare the vehicles for the assessment according to the selected candidates’ list
sent by HR. The technical assessor will meet with the candidate and commence an assessment focusing
on the below criteria:

 Candidate conducts a pre-check before operating the vehicle


 Safe driving practices
 Reverse and parking driving skills
 Use of accelerator, steer and gear smoothly
 Confidence and attention while driving
 Operating of mechanical attachment (when applicable)
The technical assessor will send a list all assessment results along with the completed form to HR daily to
process further

3- Onboarding
3.1 Submitting the security clearance
The selected candidates will be notified of their successful application. Their security clearance
application is handed over to the public relations team for Processing. The security clearance application
includes the following supporting documents:

 Passport size picture


 Typed and signed security clearance form
 Passport Copy (valid for more than 6 months)
 Residence visa copy
 Emirates ID copy
 Valid UAE driver’s license
The security clearance application is processed on the same day or the next working day and the result of
the application should be received within the following 10 working days

3.2 Security clearance issuance and appointing selected candidate
After the issuance of the security clearance, the HR team will appoint the candidate to a vacant position as
per new department requests or replacement requests of resigned and/or terminated employees. The
assigned department will be notified of the appointment of the selected candidate via e-mail.
Upon confirmation, an employment contract is prepared for appointed candidates. The candidate will be
then contacted for the signing of the contract.

3.3 Signing of contract by selected candidates


Appointed candidates will come to head office to sign the employment contract. If contract is signed, the
HR representative will agree with appointed candidate on a resignation date, notice period and a day to
submit the residence visa cancellation. the candidate is urged to respect the set timelines to ensure smooth
on-boarding and avoid cancellation of contract due to process delay.

3.4 Follow up
During the notice period, the selected candidate will receive a weekly call to update on the status of
resignation and notice period as well as follow up on the status of visa cancellation. After the completion
of notice period, the cancellation should be obtained within 10 working days and if not, the candidate will
receive a warning that the contract will be cancelled if the visa cancellation is not obtained within the
following 3 working days

3.5 Visa application for selected candidates


Upon submitting the visa cancellation, the visa application is prepared and handed over to public relations
team for processing. The visa application includes the following supporting documents:

 Passport size picture


 Security Clearance approval
 Passport Copy (valid for more than 6 months)
 Residence visa cancellation
 Emirates ID copy
The visa application is submitted on the same day or the next working day and the result of the
application is received within the following 5 working days

3.6 Joining arrangement of selected candidates


The candidate will be contacted upon the issuance of residence visa and the joining date will be set on the
first day of the following week. Accommodation will be arranged and the respective department will be
informed with the commencement date of the candidate

3.7 Next steps


After commencement of the candidate, the new employee is contacted to undergo a medical test and
Emirates ID application to complete the residence visa formalities. The respective department will be
informed about the date, time and location which the employee needs to be present at various government
departments to finalize the process.
