SHOULD SPORTS BE SEGREGATED BY GENDER?

Sports is one of the main sources of entertainment in the contemporary world but fans may not be very
supportive when some sports try to add women and men in combined play. For a variety of real and
perception reasons, society is not ready to end gender segregation in professional sports. However, let’s
grip mixed-gender sports for variety and enjoyment.

Usually, people think that they can do everything better than women, especially sports, typically the first
thing they think of until they consider it more deeply. What’s more, women are already good, yet
underrated, at endurance and stamina in events that last longer than two hours. Though there may be
some fans who would not want to see women compete with or against men, people should be open to
this concept in this day and age.

Sports are divided into mixed sports that further provide options for athletes. Some wonder when more
traditional sports will be tested in any of those categories. There are a few sports in which men and
women compete together such as Table-Tennis, Squash, Tennis, Badminton, Luge, and Ice skating. In
such sports contests, men and women form teams and go against another mixed team. This way, men
and women compete together and against each other in a fair way as both teams feature the same
number of male and female players.

Combining traditional sports with both genders is inconclusive until the businesses are comfortable with
all sides to go forward with this idea. They have to make sure it will be okay for their fans, sponsors,
media, and even their teams so that business does not go downhill. If so, sports entertainment will
never consider the idea again. With all the embracing movements in society today, we should be so bold
and courageous to take this next step and truly welcome mixed-gender sports.

I believe that true mixed-gender sports are when men and women compete directly against each other
regardless of gender and this mixture does not seem to matter for the outcomes. Two sports that are
true mixed-gender sports are Riding and Sailing. They bring in the contrasting physicality of athletes in
sports, the main reason against doing joint sports. They split the sports up into mixed sports and true
mixed-gender sports to have options to choose from. Some wonder when more traditional sports will be
put into any of those categories.

In fact, there is not just inequality in participation and opportunity, but also with pay. That comes mainly
in professional sports, wherein in almost all cases, men make more money than women. Male athletes
in basketball, golf, soccer, baseball, and tennis make anywhere from 15% to 100% more than female
athletes.

I strongly believe that this thought somehow has to be removed from society efficiently to give women
an equal right to every kind of sport as men. Sports being segregated by gender is truly discrimination
that has to be extirpated as soon as possible for a positive approach of both the genders towards
athletics.
