Our mission
Since its foundation in 1960, STI has focused on development, design and production
of complete actuation systems to operate industrial valves for the most demanding
applications and processes – those applications assessed in terms of forces, speed,
accuracy or a combination of these demands. This requires not just the ‘muscle’
(the actuator, linear or quarter turn) but also the ‘brain’ (the positioners and other
components, which control the motion following an inlet signal).
Our products are designed for use in the most severe service applications (valves,
dampers, fan inlet drives and other devices). Our goal is to meet customers’ every
specific need – as a result, we specialize in customized products.
In 2002 STI was acquired by IMI (ww.imiplc.com), an international engineering
group and therefore was able to expand its presence globally. Now STI is part of IMI
Critical Engineering, one of the three IMI’s business platforms. The IMI Group shares
a common goal – to convert their industry knowledge and market insight into bespoke
design-engineered solutions which create customer advantage and value.
Therefore the original business approach of STI has not changed.
We call this ‘Total capability in valve actuation’.
Fast and accurate response of the recycle valve actuator allows the antisurge
controller to arrest the sudden drop in deviation and increase the compressor flow.
