3.4 Power Module Redundancy Test (Field)

Purpose To verify that the 7250 iXR has a redundant power module and verify the actual
redundancy capability.
Setup
1. The switch provides redundancy backup for the power module.

Procedure
1. Turn off one power module or disconnect the power input
2. Observe the working status of the switch
3. Repeat the steps for another power module

Expected The redundant power module should take over the work of the primary power module
Results and the switch should run normally.

Procedure For Optical Ports not connected (Free Ports)/ Optical Ports connected And BiDi Optical
Ports connected:

1. Connect one end of the fiber patchcords to the TX optical interface of the optical
board/module to be tested through the assigned ODF/FPP and the other end to the
test input port of the optical power meter (Note: Set wavelength according to SFP
module type).
2. Read the stable optical power value from the Optical Power Meter.
3. Record the result on Table 4: TX Power result.
4. The Expected Results show the reference value for Tx power.

Note that: BiDI-U SFP should be installed in the 7250 IXR side.

Expected The actual TX power is within the normal range shown by detailed.

3.7 7250 iXR Interface Transceiver Rx Power Verification (Field)

Purpose Confirm the 7250 iXR Interface Transceiver Power is within normal range.

Setup None
Procedure For Optical Ports not connected (Free Ports:

1. Make loop the opposing jumpers of the same module through the assigned
ODF/FPP.
2. Remove the fiber patchcords to the RX optical interface of the optical board to be
tested and measure the input RX port using the optical power meter.
3. Read the stable optical power value from the Optical Power Meter.
4. Record the result on Table 5: RX Power result.
5. The Expected Results show the reference value for Rx power.

For BiDi Optical Ports, ports must be connected to other equipment:

1. Read the stable optical power value from the Optical Power Meter.
2. Record the result on Table 5: RX Power result.
3. The Expected Results show the reference value for Rx power.

Note that: BiDI-U SFP should be installed in the 7250 IXR side.
Expected The Actual Rx measurement should be 3db greater than the minimum RX threshold.
Results Received Power Wavelength

10G-LC-SM-40km BiDir U -21.2 to -9 dBm 3HE10452AA Rx: 1330 nm 2
Note:
1. Need to check RX power with power meter on POP site up till FPP once FTTM
7250 iXR connected to UPE/CSG.

2. Not Applicable for collocated connections (NE to NE connection). That means the
test will not be performed for the following:
Ports which are assigned as locally (collocated) or terminated to other routers
(locally connected).
Ports which are connected to routers installed on remote POPs via collocated
transmission equipment.

Results
Please refer to Table 5: RX Power Result.

2
For BiDi SFP, set the Optical power meter to 1310nm for the measurements.

3.9 7250 iXR System reboot by Power off (Field)

Purpose Confirm the 7250 iXR can recover after hard reboot.

Setup None

Procedure 1. Establish a continuous ping to the system IP address of the node under test from
the uplink node (CSG/UPE).
2. Use command line to record the configuration, logs, CPU/memory, alarms,
interface status, card register status.
Admin display-config
Show system information
Show version
Show bof

3. Remove the external flash card on position cf3

Use “show system alarms” to verify the cf3 removal alarm

4. Enable a new port (1/1/10) [configure port 1/1/10 no shutdown]

5. Admin save configuration saved.
6. Type “show port 1/1/10” to verify the port is in no shutdown state.
7. Install the external flash and admin save
8. Reboot the IXR with the SD card inserted.
9. Use “show system alarms” to verify the alarm has cleared
10. Use “show port 1/1/10” to verify port status

11. Check the configuration/status after reboot and compare with file before reboot.
Admin display-config
Show system information
Show version

Expected After hard reboot with flash inserted back, no configuration is lost.
Results Before hard reboot, 7250 iXR System is pingable.
After hard reboot, the ping is replied again.
No errors H/W
Results Pass / Fail
