STORYTELLING CONTEST

Rules and Regulations


1. The contest is open only to BEED students of Capitol University enrolled in the 2 nd semester of
academic year 2021-2022
2. Contestants must register themselves first on the pre-registration of the competition in their
respective major. (Representatives will forward the form)
3. Story piece must be in English language format.
4. The piece must NOT contain malicious, rude, discourteous, bad-mannered, and vulgar words.
5. Each contestant will be given only 5 minutes to deliver their piece. Exceeding the limit will be
deducted 1 point/minute of his/her total score.
6. Malicious, rude, discourteous, bad-mannered and vulgar gestures and costumes are strictly
prohibited.
7. Props and other materials to be used during the performance are allowed.

Adjudication and Guidelines


 A panel of at least 3 judges will be appointed to adjudicate the said competition.

 3 tabulators will tabulate the scores
 The contestant with the highest garnered score will be declared the winner.
 The judges’ decision is final and irrevocable.
 Individual’s score will not be disclosed.

Prizes
 Three will be considered as winners; first, second and third place, if participants is more than (10)
Winners will receive a prize of:
First place – Php 300.00
Second place – Php 200.00
Third place – Php 100.00
 There will be only one declared winner if the participants is less than ten (10)
Winner – Php 500.00
 The prize will be sent through Gcash (if available), or depends on the winner’s preference
Marks will be based on the following band:

Presentation/ delivery 40 1-5 6-10 11-20 21-30 31-40

Theme/ Storyline 30 1-3 4-10 11-17 18-23 23-30

Language proficiency 20 1-3 4-6 7-10 10-15 15-20

1. Presentation/ delivery
Marks will be awarded based on the following
 Voice modulation
 Voice projection and clarity
2. Theme/ Story line
Marks will be awarded bases on the following:
 Interest and appeal
 Significance and impact of meaning
 Coherence
 Integrated values
3. Language Proficiency
Marks will be awarded based on the following:
 correct, clear and accurate pronunciation
 clear enunciation and intonation
 correct use of grammar 
 appropriate and effective choice of words (diction)
 fluency 
4. Costume
Marks will be awarded based on the following:
 Suitability
 creativity
