COURSE TITLE: CRIMINAL LAW/REVISED PENAL CODE – BOOK 2 (CLJ 4)


COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course covers thorough analysis on elements of crimes under different titles and its amendments and
applicability in the administration of justice with emphasis on recent principles of law, jurisprudence and
special penal laws while recognizing the fundamental rights of a person as provided in the Constitution,
Revised Penal Code and other relevant statutes.

COURSE OUTCOMES:

At the end of the semester, the students should be able to:

Knowledge

1. Know and understand how crimes are committed.


2. Identify the different elements of each and every crime defined and punished under the Revised Penal
Code.
3. Describe and differentiate different crimes through their elements.

Skills

4. Express mastery on the different crimes defined and punished under the Revised Penal Code and
special penal laws in criminal investigation and on court testimonies.
5. Determine the proper case to be filed against the actors, offenders, malefactors, or perpetrators.
6. Demonstrate their knowledge on how to be an expert witness on court proceedings.

Values

7. Appreciate the importance of learning the different nature crimes to avoid any human rights violation in
police professional practice; and
8. Promote and protect the constitutional and statutory rights of the accused in particular as well as the
human rights of people in general.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR VIRTUAL OR ONLINE LEARNING:


• Students should use their real names in their online account for academic purposes. Maintain a real
online persona for easy tracing and monitoring. Thus, screen names and/or aliases are discouraged.
They are also advised to use an appropriate profile picture for attending a virtual or online class.
• Students should attend each class at the time specified in the schedule. Click on the Google Meet or
Zoom link provided by their respective subject educator. As much as possible, they should use their
GSuite account provided by the IT department for automatic log in to the virtual class or if they are not
using their personal Gmail account, they have to wait until their subject educator lets them in. They
must join for the online class at least fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled time. After the start of
the class, a maximum extension of fifteen (15) minutes is allowed.
• Students may use cellphones, laptops, tablets, or desktops as tools for online undertaking. When the
virtual or online class is on-going, they are supposed to keep their camera or webcam off and
microphone muted especially when not speaking or reciting to avoid any background noise pollution
and reverberation that may disturb the online learning environment, or turn off the camera or webcam
and microphone when leaving one’s station, for example having restroom breaks or in between class
session break for some refreshments or snacks. As much as possible, they are highly encouraged to
use headphones or ear pods or earphones to ensure that they can hear the teacher clearly and
properly. They should switch on their camera or webcam and microphone when the educator asks
them to speak.
• While the virtual or online classroom is remote, students are required to dress appropriately and be
properly groomed because they may be asked to turn on their camera or webcam any time.
Furthermore, they should use or demonstrate appropriate language etiquette and decorum. On this
note, they should use complete sentences while communicating with the educator through GMeet or
Zoom chatbox. Thus, abbreviations, emoticons, slang, etc. are discouraged. In case that any learner
is using foul, derogatory, and pejorative language while communicating, an appropriate complaint for
disciplinary action will be lodged against him or her before the Office of the Student Discipline
Coordinator. He or she may be penalized as the evidence may warrant in accordance with the penalty
as defined in the student discipline policy after the observance of due process.
• Students are prohibited from spamming the chat by sending unsolicited communications over the
internet, and likewise prohibited from giving out or publishing the virtual or online class links and their
passwords (if there is any) to people who should be in the class. Likewise, they should not change
the settings on the online platform being used without the educator’s permission.
• Students are prohibited from screen capturing, sharing, posting in social media, or any other similar

during online classes, unless otherwise they obtained explicit consent from them.
• Students should not misuse or distribute any modules, study materials, or learning packets uploaded
in the Google drive, Google and Schoology classrooms without the explicit consent from the educator
and such act will be treated as academic misconduct
• Students are prohibited from copying information from online sources or other students for the
examinations or assignments given in class is considered plagiarism and a strict disciplinary action will
be brought before the Student Discipline Coordinator.
• Students should not share submissions for an unlimited time and delete the content if it is no longer
needed. Likewise, they should not send assignments, projects, and other requirements to educators
via social media (e.g., posting them at Facebook or Twitter or YouTube).
