Product : Voltex DS
Voltex DS is a waterproofing membrane suitable for below
grade waterproofing for horizontal and vertical foundations
surfaces. Voltex DS uses the high swelling and self sealing
properties of the bentonite encapsulated between the geotextile
to protect the structure from water
Detailing products:
WATERSTOPPAGE:
This is granular bentonite laid around piles and penetrations prior to laying the Voltex DS
sheets.
BENTOSEAL:
RX-WATERSTOP:
This is a butyl rubber waterstop supplied in rolls for sealing at construction joints and
penetrations.
Advantages:
Installation is fast and comparatively easy. Voltex DS can be applied in damp conditions.
Surface preparation:
A lean concrete is laid on well compacted soil. Voltex DS sheet to be laid on structural
concrete. All dirt debris, oil grease, cement laitance or other foreign objects and other
contaminants must be removed.
Pre-insulation:
Method of Laying:
Substrate:
Honeycombing, aggregate pockets, tie-rod holes and other voids should be completely
filled with
non-shrink cementitious grout by main contractor and level with monolithic concrete
surface.
Required detailing:
All pipes must have Rx waterstop placed around the pipe prior to the concrete being cast.
(To be purchased separately)
Install Voltex DS Waterproofing System with the dark gray woven geotextile side facing
the concrete (polyethylene liner side away from concrete) to be waterproofed in both
horizontal and vertical applications.
After the Voltex DS is laid, the structural concrete must be cast as quickly as possible.
Standing water should be pumped off waterproofing by main contractor if structural
concrete has not as yet been laid over the waterproofing.
Each Voltex DS sheet to be lapped to the next sheet with the end laps and side laps to be
100mm.
Slab installation:
Install underslab Voltex DS membrane extending to base of shoring wall and then
extending upwards to the vertical wall approximately to a height as stated above. Secure
corner edge of membrane with washer-head fasteners at 600mm centres or as required.
Place Voltex DS directly on properly prepared substrate (poly side down; dark gray woven
geotextile side up facing installer) with adjoining edges overlapped. Stagger sheet end
seams by 300mm . When the slab is poured in sections, extend Voltex DS beyond starter
reinforcement at the slab edge and then lap the following sheet with a 100mm lap. Laps to
be nailed at 600mm centres.
The Voltex DS sheets that are to be laid on the vertical retaining formwork will now lapped
with a 100mm lap to the vertically terminated section of the horizontal base Voltex DS
sheets. Each sheet on the vertical wall to be overlapped to the adjoining sheet.
Pile caps and beams
We would apply waterstoppage around the pile cap in the form of a fillet of 12mm
(diagonally).
Voltex DS is cut to fit tightly around the piles. Bentoseal is then applied at intersection of
the Voltex DS and the pile in the form a fillet to a 50mm (diagonally).
Waterstop Rx is installed on the top surface of the pile around the reinforcing steel.
For the beams, the Voltex DS is lined on the beam formwork over which is installed the
reinforcement.
Penetrations:
Apply waterstoppage fillet of 12mm (diagonal) around the penetration. Cut and secure
Voltex DS tightly around pipe penetrations. Detail around penetration with Bentoseal
mastic with a fillet of 50mm (diagonal)
For tie bar penetration, install the sheet so that the tie bar penetrates the voltex DS sheet.
Detail around the penetration with Bentoseal mastic.
Termination:
Terminate Voltex DS at grade elevation with metal termination bar of width 25mm fastened
on concrete wall. Cover top edge of Voltex DS with a layer of Bentoseal.

Method of application
All voids created for installation of pipes, etc must be filled with non shrinkage construction
grout and completed. by main contractor.
The product is applied directly on structural concrete. Therefore any cement mortar etc, on
the surface must be removed. The surface is then inspected to ascertain if there is foreign
objects/honey combing in the surface. These areas will be hacked and patched prior to
waterproofing application by main contractor.
All voids created for installation of pipes, fittings etc must be filled with non-shrinkage
construction grout and completed by main contractor.
In areas where vertical sections meet horizontal sections wall joints, a 25mm X 25mm fillet
will be formed at this intersection point in order to eliminate the sharp edge cracking.
The surface is then thoroughly cleaned. Once the surface preparation is completed, the
surface is wetted prior to application of the waterproofing. This is to promote capillary action
of product into substrate.
Mixing:
The material is supplied in two parts, and pre-measured. On-site mixing is needed. Slowly
add the powder to the liquid and mix using a slow speed drill fitted with a Suitable paddle.
Do not mix more materials than that can be used within 45 minutes. The appearance of the
material will be creamy consistency. Do not add water at any stage to get the material loose.
Application
The two components that constitute the Mixguard AC product are mixed together to ensure
proper dispersion of the components. The first coat will be applied on the concrete substrate.
On completion of the first coat, the second coat application will be done. Prior to application
of the 2nd coat the first coat should be dry.
Waterproofing application will be extended 50mm from the waterproofing floor to the pipes
which are penetrating the concrete slab. For the pipes which are flushing to the concrete
surface, the waterproofing application will be extended 50mm into the pipes.
In areas where the application extends on the vertical section of concrete work, a 150mm
width reinforcement net will be laid to a width of at this intersection point of the concrete
floor and wall. This reinforcement will be laid on the first coat, before it has dried over which
will be applied the second coat.
Pond testing
Leave the application to cure for a minimum of 48 hours and the structure will be pond tested
for a minimum of 24 hours.

(25mm X 25mm)
Method of application
All voids created for installation of pipes, etc must be filled with non shrinkage construction
grout and completed. by main contractor.
The product is applied directly on structural concrete. Therefore any cement mortar etc, on
the surface must be removed. The surface is then inspected to ascertain if there is foreign
objects/honey combing in the surface. These areas will be hacked and patched prior to
waterproofing application. by main contractor.
For vertical brick, it must be plastered semi rough plaster, to a height of 300mm from the
finished floor level.
All plumbing must be completed and pressure tested prior to commencement of the
waterproofing. All voids created for installation of pipes, fittings etc must be filled with 1:3
cement mortar or non-shrinkage construction grout and completed. by main contractor.
In areas where vertical sections meet horizontal sections wall joints, a 25mm X 25mm fillet
will be formed at this intersection point in order to eliminate the sharp edge cracking.
To any vertical and horizontal homogenous concrete edges a filet will not be laid.
The surface is then thoroughly cleaned. Once the surface preparation is completed, the
surface is wetted prior to application of the waterproofing. This is to promote capillary action
of product into substrate.
Note.
Shower area waterproofing application will be extended 2100 mm from the finished floor
level.
Bathtub, commode and urinal area waterproofing application will be extended 900mm to
1000 mm from the finished floor level.
In areas where the application extends on the vertical section of concrete or block work/brick
work, a 150mm width reinforcement net will be laid to a width of at this intersection point of
the concrete floor and wall. This reinforcement will be laid on the first coat, before it has
dried over which will be applied the second coat.

B.CUSTOMER LIST:
Method of application
Surface preparation:
Any slurry mortar or other substance that exists on the surface that will inhibit the penetration
of Radcon into the structural concrete must be removed by the main contractor/client.
The application will be done directly on to the structural concrete and the surface should be
dry for good penetration of the Radcon Formula # 7.
If there exist, areas of segregation or voids, these areas will be hacked out, sprayed with
Radcon Formula # 7, and patched with non-shrink grout.
In the event that any foreign objects such as timber members, etc are imbedded in the surface,
they will be removed, the area sprayed with Radcon Formula # 7, and patched with non-
shrink grout.
Radcon Formula # 7 will be spray applied to the structural concrete area at the rate of 1 litre
to 5 Square metres.
Curing Period
Day 1, when the surface is found to be touch- dry (2 to 6 hours depending on the ambient
temperature), the entire Radcon treated area is sprayed with water.
Day 2, (24 hours later), flood spray the entire area with water.
Water is a critical component of the Radcon waterproofing system as it assists in product
penetration and also acts as the catalyst in Radcon reaction with the free Calcium in the
concrete.
A pond test approval document will be maintained after inspection of the pond test.
On commencement of the waterproofing no materials or personal is allowed entry into
the waterproof area, until the protection layer work is completed.

Method of application
Surface preparation:
A sloping screed is laid to over the structural concrete with a gradient of 1:300 (or higher) to
the rain water outlets by the main contractor/client. It is very important that the screed laid
on the structural concrete to receive the waterproofing membrane MUST CONSISTS
OF SUFFICIENT GRADIENT (SLOPE), so as to ensure that there is no water ponding
on the sheet membrane and all rain water will be transferred to the rain water outlets.
The sloping screed is now cleaned. If any mortar, debris and foreign matter are present on
this screed, they are to be removed by the main contractor.
A 1: 3 cement sand mortar fillet of 50mm X 50 mm thick to be laid at the intersection point
of any vertical and horizontal section such as the wall – slab edge, by the main
contractor/client.
Note:-
Bituprimer is brush applied on the levelling screed, which acts as a key coat for the torch
membrane and allowed to dry.
Each sheet is lapped 100mm to the next sheet – both at side laps and end laps.
The torch membrane laying on the horizontal surface is continued on the vertical sections and
terminated on the vertical walls as per the desired height of termination.
Application of Mixtex super / Watershield sealed at the termination point of the sheet
membrane on the vertical wall.
Pond testing
Heat insulation boards (INSUTEC) are now placed over the waterproofing membrane and
loosely laid
A separation layer of polyethylene to be laid over the insulation board, maintaining a 100mm
lap at the polyethylene joint, by the main contractor/client.
A protective screed of reinforced concrete to be laid over the separation layer with necessary
expansion joints. Expansion joints to be filled with a sealant
A pond test approval document will be maintained after inspection of the pond test.
On commencement of the waterproofing work no materials or personal is allowed
entry into the waterproof area, until the protection layer work is completed.
