ABSTRACT

This study examined the impact of prostitution in Ekosodin community Egor local government
area of Edo State. In conducting the study, a sample size of one hundred and fifty respondents
were randomly selected from the population. The survey design was adopted for this study.
To collect the needed data and information, a questionnaire was designed in line with the
research questions. The method of data collection included the questionnaire, in-depth
interview and secondary records which essentially included documents relating to the impact
of prostitution. Data were analyzed by means of tables, frequency distribution and
percentages. The study recommend that: females should be given equal social, economic and
political opportunities so that they can easily settle themselves in society and their
dependency on males can be reduced, Government and Civil Society organizations should
target all sides of demand of prostitution, Supply is always generated to cope with demand,
every state in the world has laws prepared regarding trafficking, kidnap, compulsion,
physical attack and sexual assault, All governments, NGOs, and religious communities
should spotlight on plummeting the demand for sufferers of sex trafficking and sex work.
