NARRATIVE REPORT ON PEDAGOGICAL APPROACHES IN TEACHING

FILIPINO/MELCs IN THE NEW NORMAL

LAC IN FILIPINO

As stated in DepEd Order No. 35, s. 2016, Learning Action Cell (LAC) is

a session conducted by group of teachers who engage in collaborative learning sessions to solve
shared challenges encountered in school. Last April 05, 2021, the Filipino Department conducted
a Learning Action Cell about Pedagogical Approaches in Teaching Filipino/MELCs in the New
Normal via Google Meet.

The speaker of the said virtual LAC session was Ms. Annabelle H. Angeles who
discussed the different pedagogical approaches and why pedagogy exists. She started her
presentation with a quotation “Life is a journey not a destination” and explained the meaning.
She reviewed the pedagogical skills which were discussed by Mr. Mar Sebastian during INSET.
Ms. Angeles enumerated and explained the different theories on pedagogical approaches. She
also discussed the MELC, its characteristics and how it was identified. She also gave the five (5)
types/models of Blended Learning Approaches and gave application of each. She ended her
discussion by giving considerations and suggestions for teaching in the New Normal.
After the LAC session, the demonstration of the topics followed. The demonstration
teachers were Ms. Mikee C. Oredo, a Grade 8 Filipino teacher, Mrs. Marianne Punongbayan, a
Grade 10 Filipino teacher and Mr. Eduardo Ramiro, a Grade 9 Filipino teacher who shared their
expertise in teaching by applying their learning from the LAC session.

In the cooperation of every Filipino teacher at Alexis G. Santos National High School as
well as the School Principal, the said LAC was successfully done, and all the topics were
discussed clearly.
