What’s In
The five biological factors that I need in order to live are
temperature, water, oxygen, pressure and radiation.
The top three most important factors for me (from the
five factors that I list down) are temperature, water and
oxygen.
𖣔Temperature is important to me/us for the enzymes of
my/our body. Temperature influences how quickly
atoms, molecules or organisms move.
High temperatures also help, even for a short time,
affect crop growth which helps our everyday life and
provides our daily needs.Temperature has the single
most important influence on the distribution of
organisms because it determines the physical state of
water.
𖣔Water is important to our everyday life and key to our
survival.Water boosts energy. it also plays many
important roles in the body including flushing waste
from the body, regulating body temperature,
transportation of nutrients and is necessary for
digestion.
𖣔Oxygen helps organisms grow, reproduce, and turn
food into energy. We get the oxygen we need by
breathing through our nose and mouth into our lungs.
Oxygen gives our cells the ability to break down food in
order to get the energy we need to survive. Also, most
living things need oxygen to survive.

What I Have Learned

A.
Biological Illustration/ Based on experience
Factors Picture
1. The Earth is at the right distance

Temperature from the Sun. It affects biological

and chemical processes.

2.Water Liquid water is important

because life on earth started in

liquid water. And as i know it,

water is a necessary chemical

ingredient for life. Liquid water is

an essential requirement for life

on Earth because it functions as

a solvent.

3.Atmospher The role of atmosphere in

e sustaining life on earth is the

thin gaseous layer that covers

the earth from the harmful rays

of the sun.
4.Energy Living organisms harness energy

because of the flow of energy

through living things begins with

photosynthesis, which creates

glucose. In a process called

cellular respiration, organisms'

cells break down glucose and

make the ATP they need.

5. Nutrients Nutrients are being recycled on

earth because of nutrients in the

soil are taken up by plants, which

are consumed by humans or

animals, and excreted again by

them — or they are released

back into the environment when

organisms die.

B.
Factor Planet’s Requirements for Life to Exists
1.Temperature Life can grow and reproduce at temperatures as

low as −15 °C, and as high as 122 °C. Studies of

life in extreme deserts show that on a dry world,

even a small amount of rain, fog, snow, and even

atmospheric humidity can be adequate for

photosynthetic production producing a small but

detectable microbial community.

2. Water Liquid water is an essential requirement for life on

Earth because it functions as a solvent. It is capable

of dissolving substances and enabling key

chemical reactions in animal, plant and microbial

cells. Its chemical and physical properties allow it

to dissolve more substances than most other

liquids.

3.Atmosphere Animal life as we know it requires an atmosphere

with sufficient oxygen. In order for plants to carry

out photosynthesis, there must be a sufficient

amount of carbon in the atmosphere in the form of

carbon dioxide.

4.Energy Life on Earth uses only two types of energy for

metabolism: sunlight and redox chemistry. One or

the other has to be present, and if you're in the

habitable zone of a star, you at least have enough

light to support photosynthesis. So you have the

right temperature, water, and sunlight.

5.Nutrients Without chemicals to make proteins &

carbohydrates, organisms cannot grow. Planets

without systems to deliver nutrients to its

organisms (e.g., a water cycle or volcanic activity)

cannot support life. Also, when nutrients are

spread so thin that they are hard to obtain, such

as on a gas planet, life cannot exist.

What I Can Do
1. Temperature
•The presence of small amounts of heat-trapping
greenhouse gases in the atmosphere warms Earth's
surface, resulting in a planet that sustains liquid
water and life. The agricultural, economic, and
transportation systems we rely upon are vulnerable
if the climate changes significantly.
2. Water
•Liquid water is an essential requirement for life on
Earth because it functions as a solvent. It is capable
of dissolving substances and enabling key chemical
reactions in animal, plant and microbial cells. Its
chemical and physical properties allow it to
dissolve more substances than most other liquids.

3. Atmosphere
•The atmosphere protects life on earth  by
shielding it from incoming ultraviolet (UV)
radiation, keeping the planet warm through
insulation, and preventing extremes between day
and night temperatures. The sun heats layers of the
atmosphere causing it to convect driving air
movement and weather patterns around the world.
4.Energy
•The Energy either in light or chemical form is also
required for life. Both forms fuel the metabolic
reactions that allow life to reproduce. Along with
energy, we must make sure that any planet has a
protective atmosphere that keeps the radiation
from a sun out, while still keeping the planet warm.

5. Nutrients
•Nutrients are chemical substances found in every
living thing on Earth. They are necessary to the
lives of people, plants, animals, and all other
organisms. Nutrients help break down food to give
organisms energy. Plants and other autotrophs
absorb nutrients from soil and water.
