A GENERAL PURPOSE GRINDING FLUID

DESCRIPTION

EXX – 1022 is a fully synthetic water-mix grinding fluid that forms a true solution when diluted
with water.

EXX – 1022 provides superior cooling and flushing characteristics, keeping grinding wheels
‘open’ and carrying debris away from the machining area.

EXX – 1022 In addition General Purpose Grinding Fluid provides excellent corrosion protection
on both work pieces on machines whilst minimizing the build up of ‘sticky’ residues.

3. HAZARD INFORMATION

Eyes: This product may cause moderate to severe eye irritation upon contact. Contact with eyes may lead to
pain with excess blinking, tear production, redness and swelling of the eye with injury to cornea. Avoid
contact with eyes.

Skin: This product may cause skin irritation upon direct contact. Every effort should be made to avoid direct
contact with the skin.

Inhalation: Inhalation of vapors may cause physical irritation. Aspiration of this product may cause
pneumontis. Caution should be taken to prevent aerosolizing or misting of this product.

Ingestion: Do not ingest. Product may be toxic if ingested.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES

Thoroughly flush affected area with large quantities of water. Remove and wash all contaminated clothing
before use.

Inhalation: If overexposure occurs, remove victim to fresh air immediately. If breathing has stopped, apply
artificial respiration and administer oxygen if necessary. Seek medical attention immediately.
Eye Contact: Flush eyes with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes while holding eyelids open. Seek
medical attention immediately.

Skin Contact: Flush with water while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash exposed portions of
the skin with soap and water. Do not use clothing and shoes until thoroughly cleaned and decontaminated.
Discard all leather articles soaked with this product. If irritation persists, seek medical attention
immediately.

Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical attention immediately. If the person is conscious, give two
glasses of water. If vomiting occurs simultaneously, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration of material
into the lungs. Aspiration of the material into the lungs due to vomiting can cause chemical pneumonitis,
which can be fatal. Keep the person warm and quiet.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

Material will not burn unless preheated. In case of fire, use foam, dry chemicals, CO2, sand/earth to
extinguish fire. Water should only be used to cool the fire exposed container. Use of water may cause
frothing. Do not enter confined fire space without full bunker gear (helmet with face shield, bunker coats,
gloves and rubber boots), including a positive-pressure NIOSH approved self-contained breathing apparatus.

When heated to its decomposition temperature, this product may emit toxic fumes of carbon monoxide,
carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxide and other unknown organic vapors. Firefighters should wear self-contained
breathing apparatus.

6. MEASURES FOR ACCIDENTAL RELEASES

Put on protective clothing before starting the clean up. Contain spill and stop the leak at the source if safe to
do so and notify the appropriate authorities of the spill. Material may burn although not readily ignitable.
Use cautious judgment when cleaning up large spills. Soak up small spills with a non-combustible absorbent.
Large spills can be removed by a vacuum truck or pumping to storage vessels. Flush area with large amounts
of water to in-house treatment system to remove trace residues. Do not directly flush to the sewer or
surface waters. Dispose of the material in accordance with federal, state and local area regulations.

7. HANDLING AND STORAGE

HANDLING:
Use good engineering practices to establish good ventilation. For normal use, wear rubber gloves, coveralls,
boots and goggles. If a mist of this material is present or the ventilation is poor then use mist type
respirator; and a local exhaust is required for the mist.
Do not eat or drink while handling the material. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before eating.

STORAGE:
Do not transfer the material to unmarked containers. Store in closed containers away from extreme heat,
sparks, open flame, or oxidizing materials. Fire extinguishers should be kept available at all times.
Product should be stored at less than 40 deg C to prevent darkening and possible decomposition of the
material. Optimum storage requirements are 20 +/- 5 deg C.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROL AND PERSONAL PROTECTION EQUIPMENT

Use oil resistant rubber gloves, boots, coveralls and goggles under normal use.
Local exhaust, ventilation, mist type respirator and face shield are required under mist conditions.
