ACTIVITY 7

PHYSICAL SELF
Look at yourself in front of the mirror and answer the following questions.
1. Which part of your body are you most proud of? Why?
a) ~ I believe that my nose and physique make me physically proud of myself. I'm proud
of my nose because many people, including my family, friends, and some of my
classmates, have told me that my nose is somehow elevated, so I'm thankful and
flattered at the same time. I am proud of my physique because I believe that chubby
is the new sexy these days. I grew up with chubby cheeks, tummy, and body, which
often led to discrimination and bullying. But that's just a comment from them, and I
don't take it seriously, even though it sometimes hurts and makes me proud of my
physique more.
2. Which part of your body are you are you not happy about? Why?
~ To be honest, I'm not thrilled with my appearance. Aside from being overweight, I was
also bullied because of pimples on my face. But I believe it is natural and necessary for our
growth and development. I was simply unhappy because of how I felt every time I was bullied
and criticized because of my appearance. Another issue is my skin tone; my skin tone is
neither light nor dark, but the beauty standard of today's generation continues to rise, and I
believe that I don't need to fit and please their standards because I know I can simply create a
new one for myself. And now I'm happy and content with my face, body, and physique, and I'm
waiting for the right and best time to glow up. 3. What is your ideal body? Describe the body
you want to have. ~ I'd be lying if I said I hadn't fantasized about my ideal body. To be honest,
my ideal body is one that is normal in weight and height. Clear skin is also considered to be
everyone's ideal skin. But I understand that we must be content and satisfied with what we
have, and that if we want to make changes, we must act now. We must improve our lifestyle,
eat nutritious foods, and allow our bodies to rest. Because, at the end of the day, the only thing
we can do is to start acting now and changing our bad habits, such as avoiding sleeping late
and instead sleeping early, eating nutritious foods, and a variety of other things. 4. Do you
really need other body to be happy? Why? Why not? ~ At first glance, the body is the first
criterion for judging a person's attractiveness. Because each community has its own history
and cultural background, their ideal body types differ. The so-called beauty standards are
examples of what a person should be, but I believe they only show and are used to
discriminate against others. Even so, if I were given the opportunity to change my body, I would
politely decline because I don't need another body. This body is a gift from God and a
representation of myself. So I don't need another body or to change my body to please others
and fit myself to the beauty standard. And I believe I can set my own standard, be content with
what we have, and accept it as my bias (favorite member of a group) suggested. Kim Mingyu is
a member of the South Korean pop group SE7ENTEEN. When they first debuted, he was
nervous because his skin tone was different from the other idols, who had light skin tones,
while his was tan. Instead of displaying it as a flaw, he accepted it and used it to set a new
standard. And now he was one of the most visually appealing idols. And I've learned that all we
need is acceptance and contentment. We don't need another body, so let us begin to accept
ourselves and LIKE, CARE for, and LOVE our own beauty.
