towards the normal. Why?
2. Light of wavelength 5000 Å in air enters a medium of refractive
index 1.4. What will be its frequency in the medium?
3. What is the main use of optical fibres?
4. How does the focal length of a convex lens change, if

blue light?
5. Two thin lenses of power +5D and -3D are in contact. What is
the focal length of the combination?
6. A convex lens of glass of refractive index 𝜇𝐿 is immersed in a
medium of refractive index 𝜇𝑀 . How will the lens behave when
𝜇𝐿 < 𝜇𝑀 ?
7. How does the power of a convex lens vary, if the incident red

8. A converging lens is kept coaxially in contact with a diverging
lens. Both the lenses being of equal focal lengths. What is the
focal length and power of the combination?
9. A ray of light incident on an equilateral glass prism (𝜇𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑠𝑠 =

the angle of incidence for this ray?
10. For the same value of angle of incidence, the angles of
refraction in three media A, B and C are 15°, 25° and 35°
respectively. In which medium would the velocity of light be
minimum?
