1. Define estimate.
2. What are the types of estimate?
3. Workout the quality of stone metal required for 2Km. Length for wearing coat of
a 4m wide road. The thickness of the metal road required is 12cm loose.
4. What are the main components of culvert?
5. Define analysis of rates.
6. State the different types of specification.
7. What are the important factors influencing the value of building?
8. An old building has been purchased by a person at a cost of Rs.30, 000/-
excluding the cost of the land. Calculate the amount of annual sinking fund at
4% interest assuming the future life of the building as 20 years and scarp value of
the building as 10% of the cost of purchase.
9. What are the Principles of report preparation?
10. State the two cost control coding system adopted at work site.

11. a. Briefly explain the different types of estimates discussing when each one is
preferred.

b. Calculate the quantities of the following items from the given figure up to
G.L., using Centre line method

1.Excavation for foundations.


2. Cement Concrete in foundations.
3.Brick work in cement mortar (1:4)

12. a Assuming current schedule of rates for materials and labour,prepare data for the
plastering the walls in CM 1:5, 12mm thick for 10m2

13.a.Explain the points to be included in the specifications of some of the civil


engineering construction work.

15.a. A Three storied building is standing on a plot of land measuring 1000 sq.m. the
plinth area of each storey is 500 sq.m. the building is of R.C.C framed structure and the
future life may be taken as 70 years. The buildings fetches a gross rent rs.2500.00 per month.
Work out the capitalized value of the property on the basis of 6% net yield. For sinking fund
3% compound interest may be assumed. Cost of land may be taken Rs.100.00 per sq.m. other
data required may be assumed suitably.
