Details: When installing or servicing this machine it is important to perform all calibration
procedures as prescribed in the service documentation.

Note: The following procedures must be followed completely from beginning to end to ensure
proper calibration.

Please use this reference guide to perform machine/color calibrations under the following
conditions:

1) Install/Set Up
2) Maintenance
3) Service Call
4) Firmware Upgrade

Install/Set Up:

Note: Before performing the following steps, make sure that you have assembled the machine and
supplies according to the Installation Manual and have performed TC 25-02.

1) Verify that the Firmware is at the current level on SharpNet.

2) Perform Color Image Density Sensor Adjustment.

6) Set the following to default:


TC 46-01 A through U to 50
TC 46-02 A through L to 50

7) Set TC 44-1 Process Control Correction Functions to Default.

9) Clean & Calibrate CCD.

10) Verify that all Process Voltages for DV Bias, Main Charger grid Voltage, and Transfer
Voltage are set to the correct values.

11) Perform Forced Execution of Process Control.

12) Perform Forced Execution of Half Tone Image Correction.

Note: If 44-26 comes up with an “ERROR”, proceed to step 13, then step 18. After this,
come back to step 12 and continue all the way through the rest of the calibration procedure.

13) Perform Auto Color Calibration.

Select FACTORY and repeat this procedure 3 times (total 4) for best accuracy.
Use Hammermill 11X17 28lb, 96 Brightness paper.

Check Copy Quality using Sharp Color Test Chart UKOG-0317FC11 and customers
originals. If Copy Quality is satisfactory, proceed to the step.15.

If the calibration is unsuccessful, set Factory mode to a new definition (DEF1, DEF2, DEF3).

If you choose a different DEF target, repeat step 13.

16) Perform Color Copy Density Adjustment for all modes.

Patch “7” should not be copied. Patch 6 should be slightly copied.

17) Perform Black & White Density Adjustment for all modes.
Use Sharp Gray Chart UKOG-0162FCZZ.
TC 46-2
Patch 1 should not be copied. Patch 2 should be slightly copied.

18) Perform Printer Color Calibration.
TC-67-24
Select FACTORY and repeat this procedure 3 times (total 4) for best accuracy.
Use Hammermill 11X17 28lb, 96 Brightness paper.

Check the machine for Color Balance/Density using Customers Print Files and TC 64-5 or
67-25.
Compare the “Process Black Line” to the “Black Line”. If the calibration is good, the two lines
should look the same or very close to each other.

If the calibration is unsuccessful, set FACTORY mode to a new definition (DEF1, DEF2,
DEF3).

Check the machine for Color Balance/Density using Customers Print Files and TC 64-5 or
67-25.
Compare the “Process Black Line” to the “Black Line”. If the calibration is good, the two lines
should look the same or very close to each other.

19) Copy the Color Target Data from Factory mode into the Service mode.
This way, if the System Administrator chooses to perform Auto Color Calibration (which
references Service mode) the color balance should be acceptable.

Maintenance:
Perform this calibration procedure when Maintenance Parts/Supplies have been replaced.

1) Make sure that the appropriate Maintenance Counters have been cleared.
TC 24-04 (Maintenance Counter Clear)
TC 24-05 (Developer Counter Clear)
TC 24-07 (Drum Counter Clear)

2) Verify that the Firmware is at the current level on SharpNet.

3) Perform Color Image Density Sensor Adjustment.

4) Perform Black Image Density Sensor/Image Registration Sensor Adjustment.

9) Perform Auto Color Calibration.

10) If Copy Quality is not acceptable:


TC 46-24
Select FACTORY and repeat this procedure 3 times (total 4) for best accuracy.
Use Hammermill 11X17 28lb, 96 Brightness paper.
