‫َالَّس َال َعَل َك َيا َأَبا َع ِد ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ْب‬ ‫ُم ْي‬
alssalamu `alayka ya aba `abdillahi
Peace be upon you, O Abu-`Abdullah.

‫َالَّس َال َعَل َك َيا ْبَن وِل ٱِهَّلل‬

‫َر ُس‬ ‫ُم ْي‬
alssalamu `alayka yabna rasuli allahi
Peace be upon you, O son of Allah’s Messenger.

‫الَّس َال َعَليَك َيا ِخ ِة ٱِهَّلل ٱْبَن َخ ِتِه‬

‫َرَي َو َري‬ ‫ُم‬
alssalamu `alayka ya khiyarata allahi wabna khiyaratihi
Peace be upon you, O choicest of Allah and son of His choicest.

‫َالَّس َال َعَل َك َيا ْبَن َأِمِري ٱُمْلْؤ ِمِن‬

‫َني‬ ‫ُم ْي‬
alssalamu `alayka yabna amiri almu'minina
Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful

‫ِّي‬ ‫ِص‬ ‫ْل‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫ٱْبَن ِّيِد‬

‫َو َس َو َني‬
wabna sayyidi alwasiyyina
and son of the chief of the Prophets’ successors.

‫َالَّس َالُم َعَلْيَك َيا ْبَن َفاِط َم َة‬

alssalamu `alayka yabna fatimata
Peace be upon you, O son of Fatimah

‫ِمَل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ْل‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫ِّيَدِة ِن اِء‬

‫َس َس َع َني‬
sayyidati nisa'i al`alamina
the doyenne of the women of the worlds.

‫ِو‬ ‫ِه‬ ‫ِر‬ ‫ِهَّلل‬

‫َالَّس َالُم َعَلْيَك َيا َثاَر ٱ َو َن َو َر َمْلْو َر‬
‫و‬ ‫ُت‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫ْت‬ ‫ْل‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫َثا‬ ‫ْب‬‫ٱ‬
alssalamu `alayka ya thara allahi wabna tharihi walwitra almawtura
Peace be upon you, O vengeance of Allah, son of His vengeance, and the unavenged so far.

‫َالَّس َالُم َعَلْيَك َوَعٰىَل ٱَألْرَواِح ٱَّليِت َح َّلْت ِبِفَناِئَك‬

alssalamu `alayka wa `ala al-arwahi allati hallat bifina'ika
Peace be upon you and upon the souls that resided in your courtyard.

‫َعَلْيُك ْم ِميِّن ِمَجيعًاَس َالُم ٱِهَّلل َأَبدًا‬

`alaykum minni jami`an salamu allahi abadan
Peace of Allah be upon all of you from me forever

‫َما َبقيُت َوَبِقَي ٱلَّلْيُل َوٱلَّنَه ُرا‬

ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu
as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

‫َيا َأَبا َع ِد ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ْب‬
ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah,

‫َلَقْد َعُظ َم ِت ٱلَّر ِز َّيُة‬

laqad `azumat alrraziyyatu
unbearable is the sorrow

‫َوَج َّلْت َوَعُظ َم ِت ٱُمْلصيَبُة ِبَك‬

wa jallat wa `azumat almusibatu bika
and excruciating and unbearable is the misfortune of you

‫َعَلْيَنا َع ِمَجيِع َأْه ِل ٱِإل َالِم‬

‫ْس‬ ‫َو ٰىَل‬
`alayna wa `ala jami`i ahli al-islami
for us and for all the people of Islam.

‫َوَج َّلْت َوَعُظ َم ْت ُمصيَبُتَك‬

wa jallat wa `azumat musibatuka
Excruciating and unbearable has been your misfortune

‫يِف ٱلَّس ا اِت َع ِمَجيِع َأْه ِل ٱلَّس ا اِت‬

‫َم َو‬ ‫َم َو ٰىَل‬
fi alssamawati `ala jami`i ahli alssamawati
in the heavens for all the inhabitants of the heavens.

‫َفَلَعَن ٱ ُأَّمًة َأَّس ْت َأ اَس ٱلُّظ ْلِم ٱَجْل ِر َعَل ُك َأْه َل ٱْل ِت‬
‫َبْي‬ ‫َو ْو ْي ْم‬ ‫َس َس‬ ‫ُهَّلل‬
fala`ana allahu ummatan assasat asasa alzzulmi waljawri `alaykum ahla albayti
So, may Allah curse the people who laid the basis of persecution and wronging against you, O Members of the Household.

‫ُك‬ ‫َلَعَن ٱ ُأَّمًة َف ْتُك َعْن َقاِم‬

‫َو ُهَّلل َد َع ْم َم ْم‬
wa la`ana allahu ummatan dafa`atkum `an maqamikum
May Allah curse the people who drove you away from your position

‫َوَأَزاَلْتُك ْم َعْن َمَر اِتِبُك ُم ٱَّليِت َر َّتَبُك ُم ٱُهَّلل ِفيَها‬

wa azalatkum `an maratibikum allati rattabakum allahu fiha
and removed you away from your ranks that Allah has put you in.

‫ُك‬ ‫َل‬
‫ْت‬ ‫َت‬‫َق‬ ‫ًة‬ ‫َّم‬‫َلَعَن ٱ ُأ‬
‫ْم‬ ‫َو ُهَّلل‬
wa la`ana allahu ummatan qatalatkum
May Allah curse the people who slew you.

‫ِد‬
‫َوَلَعَن ٱُهَّلل ٱُمْلَم ِّه يَن ُهَلْم‬
wa la`ana allahu almumahhidina lahum
May Allah curse those who paved the way for them to do so

‫ُك‬‫ِبٱلَّت ِكِني ِم ِقَتاِل‬

‫ْن ْم‬ ‫ْم‬
bilttamkini min qitalikum
and who made possible for them to fight against you.

‫ُه‬‫ْن‬‫َبِر ْئ ِإ ٱِهَّلل ِإَل ُك ِم‬

‫ُت ٰىَل َو ْي ْم ْم‬
bari'tu ila allahi wa ilaykum minhum
I repudiate them in the presence of Allah and You

‫ِه‬ ‫ِم َأْش اِع ِه َأْت اِع ِه َأ ِل اِئ‬

‫َو ْن َي ْم َو َب ْم َو ْو َي ْم‬
wa min ashya`ihim wa atba`ihim wa awliya'ihim
and I repudiate their devotees, followers, and loyalists.

‫َيا َأَبا َع ِد ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ْب‬
ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah,

‫ِس‬
‫ِإيِّن ٌم َس َمَل ْم‬
‫ُك‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َمِلْن‬ ‫ْل‬
inni silmun liman salamakum
I am at peace with those who are at peace with you

‫ا ُك ِإ َي ِم ٱْلِق ا ِة‬
‫َوَح ْر ٌب َمِلْن َح َر َب ْم ٰىَل ْو َي َم‬
wa harbun liman harabakum ila yawmi alqiyamati
and I am at war against those who have fought against you up to the Resurrection Day.

‫َمْر‬ ‫َل‬ ‫آ‬ ‫ٍد‬‫ا‬‫َي‬ ‫ِز‬

‫َوَلَعَن ٱُهَّلل آَل َو َو َن‬
‫ا‬
wa la`ana allahu ala ziyadin wa ala marwana
May Allah also curse the family of Ziyad and the family of Marwan.

‫َوَلَعَن ٱُهَّلل َبيِن ُأَمَّيَة َقاِط َبًة‬

wa la`ana allahu bani umayyata qatibatan
May Allah also curse the descendants of Umayyah altogether.

‫َوَلَعَن ٱُهَّلل ٱْبَن َمْر َج اَنَة‬

wa la`ana allahu ibna marjanata
May Allah also curse the son of Marjanah.

‫َلَعَن ٱ ُع َمَر ْبَن ْعٍد‬

‫َس‬ ‫َو ُهَّلل‬
wa la`ana allahu `umara bna sa`din
May Allah also curse `Umar the son of Sa`d.

‫َوَلَعَن ٱُهَّلل ْمِشرًا‬

wa la`ana allahu shimran
May Allah also curse Shimr.

‫َأ‬ ‫َأ‬
‫َوَلَعَن ٱُهَّلل ُأَّمًة ْس َر َج ْت َو َجْلَم ْت‬
wa la`ana allahu ummatan asrajat wa aljamat
May Allah also curse the people who saddled up, gave reins to their horses,

‫َوَتَنَّقَبْت ِلِقَتاِلَك‬
wa tanaqqabat liqitalika
and masked their faces in preparation for fighting against you.

‫ِبَأيِب َأْنَت َوُأِّمي‬

bi'abi anta wa ummi
May my father and mother be ransoms for you.

‫َلَقْد َعُظ َم ُمَص ايِب ِبَك‬

laqad `azuma musabi bika
Extremely insufferable is my commiserations with you;

‫َفَأْس َأُل ٱَهَّلل ٱَّلِذ ي َأْكَر َم َمَقاَمَك َوَأْكَر َميِن ِبَك‬

fa'as'alu allaha alladhi akrama maqamaka wa akramani bika
so, I beseech Allah Who has honored your position and honored me because of you

‫َأْن َيْر ُزَقيِن َط َلَب َثْأِر َك‬

an yarzuqani talaba tha'rika
to endue me with the chance to avenge you

‫َمَع ِإَماٍم َمْنُص وٍر ِمْن َأْه ِل َب ِت َحُمَّم ٍد‬

‫ْي‬
ma`a imamin mansurin min ahli bayti muhammadin
with a (Divinely) supported leader from the Household of Muhammad,

‫َص ٱ َعَل ِه آِلِه‬

‫ٰىَّل ُهَّلل ْي َو‬
salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
peace of Allah be upon him and his Household.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْج َعْليِن ِع ْنَدَك َوِج يهًا‬

allahumma ij`alni `indaka wajihan
O Allah, (please) make me illustrious in Your sight

‫ِبٱ ِنْي َعَل ِه ٱلَّس َال يِف ٱلُّدْن ا ٱآلِخ ِة‬

‫َي َو َر‬ ‫ُم‬ ‫ُحْلَس ْي‬
bilhusayni `alayhi alssalamu fi alddunya wal-akhirati
in the name of al-Husayn, peace be upon him, in this world and in the Hereafter.

‫َيا َأَبا َع ِد ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ْب‬
ya aba `abdillahi
O Abu-`Abdullah,

‫وِلِه‬ ‫ِإ‬ ‫ِإيِّن َأَتَقَّر ِإ ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ُب ٰىَل َو ٰىَل َر ُس‬
inni ataqarrabu ila allahi wa ila rasulihi
I do seek nearness to Allah, to His Messenger,

‫َوِإٰىَل َأِمِري ٱُمْلْؤ ِمِنَني َوِإٰىَل َفاِط َم َة‬

wa ila amiri almu'minina wa ila fatimata
to the Commander of the Faithful, to Fatimah,

‫َوِإٰىَل ٱَحْلَس ِن َوِإَلْيَك ُمِبَواَالِتَك‬

wa ila alhasani wa ilayka bimuwalatika
to al-Hasan, and to you by means of loyalty to you

‫َوِبٱْلَرَباَءِة (َّمِمْن َقاَتَلَك‬

wa bilbara'ati (mimman qatalaka
and by means of repudiation of those who fought against you

‫َوَنَص َب َلَك ٱَحْلْر َب‬

wa nasaba laka alharba
and incurred your hostility,

‫ُك‬ ‫َل‬‫َع‬ ‫ِر‬ ‫َجْل‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫ِم‬‫ْل‬ ‫ُّظ‬ ‫ٱل‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ِبٱْل ا ِة َّمِمْن َأَّس َس َأ‬
‫َو ْو ْي ْم‬ ‫َس‬ ‫َس‬
wa bilbara'ati mimman assasa asasa alzzulmi waljawri `alaykum
‫َو َرَب َء‬
and repudiation of those who laid the basis of persecution and wronging against you all.

‫وِلِه‬ ‫ِإ‬ ‫) َأْبَر ُأ ِإ ٱِهَّلل‬

‫َو ٰىَل َو ٰىَل َر ُس‬
wa abra'u ila allahi wa ila rasulihi)
I also repudiate, in the presence of Allah and His Messenger,

‫َّمِمْن َأَّس َس َأَس اَس ٰذِلَك‬

mimman assasa asasa dhalika
those who laid the basis of all that,

‫َوَبٰىَن َعَلْيِه ُبْنَياَنُه‬

wa bana `alayhi bunyanahu
established their foundations on it,

‫ُك‬ ‫َج َر يِف ُظ ْلِمِه َج ِر ِه َعَل ُك ع َأْش اِع‬

‫َو ْو ْي ْم َو ٰىل َي ْم‬ ‫َو ٰى‬
wa jara fi zulmihi wa jawrihi `alaykum wa `ala ashya`ikum
and continued in wronging and persecuting you and your adherents.

‫ِم‬ ‫ِهَّلل‬
‫َبِر ْئُت ِإٰىَل ٱ َو ْي ْم ُهْم‬
‫ْن‬ ‫ُك‬ ‫َل‬‫ِإ‬
bari'tu ila allahi wa ilaykum minhum
In the presence of Allah and you all do I repudiate these.

‫ُك‬ ‫َل‬‫ِإ‬ ‫َّم‬ ‫ُث‬ ‫َأَتَقَّر ِإ ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ْي ْم‬ ‫َو ُب ٰىَل‬
wa ataqarrabu ila allahi thumma ilaykum
And I seek nearness to Allah and then to you all

‫ُك‬ ‫ِّي‬ ‫اَالِة ِل‬ ‫ُك‬ ‫اَالِت‬

‫ُمِبَو ْم َوُمَو َو ْم‬
bimuwalatikum wa muwalati waliyyikum
by means of declaring loyalty to you and to your loyalists

‫ُك‬ ‫ِبٱْل ا ِة ِم َأْعَداِئ‬

‫ْم‬ ‫َو َرَب َء ْن‬
wa bilbara'ati min a`da'ikum
and declaring repudiation of your enemies

‫َوٱلَّناِص ِبَني َلُك ُم ٱَحْلْر َب‬

walnnasibina lakum alharba
and those who incur animosity of you

‫ِه‬ ‫ِبٱْل ا ِة ِمْن َأْش اِع ِه َأْت اِع‬

‫َي ْم َو َب ْم‬ ‫َو َرَب َء‬
wa bilbara'ati min ashya`ihim wa atba`ihim
and repudiation of their adherents and followers.

‫ِس‬
‫ِإيِّن ٌم َس َمَل ْم‬
‫ُك‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َمِلْن‬ ‫ْل‬
inni silmun liman salamakum
I am verily at peace with those who have been at peace with you,

‫َوَح ْر ٌب َمِلْن َح اَر َبُك ْم‬

wa harbun liman harabakum
I am at war against those who fought against you,

‫َوَوٌّيِل َمِلْن َواَالُكْم‬

wa waliyyun liman walakum
loyalist to those who have been loyalist to you,

‫َوَعُد ٌّو َمِلْن َعاَداُكْم‬

wa `aduwwun liman `adakum
and enemy of those who have shown enmity towards you.

‫ُك‬‫َفَأ َأُل ٱ ٱَّلِذ ي َأْكَر يِن َمِبْعِر َفِت‬

‫ْم‬ ‫َم‬ ‫ْس َهَّلل‬
fa'as'alu allaha alladhi akramani bima`rifatikum
So, I beseech Allah Who has endued me with the honor of recognizing you

‫ُك‬ ‫َمْعِر َفِة َأ ِل اِئ‬

‫ْو َي ْم‬
wa ma`rifati awliya'ikum
‫َو‬
and recognizing your loyalists

‫ُك‬ ‫َزَق ٱْل ا َة ِم َأْعَداِئ‬

‫ْم‬ ‫َوَر َيِن َرَب َء ْن‬
wa razaqani albara'ata min a`da'ikum
and Who conferred upon me with repudiation of your enemies,

‫َي َو َر‬ ‫ْن ْجَيَع َمَع ْم‬

an yaj`alani ma`akum fi alddunya wal-akhirati
to include me with you in this world and in the Hereafter

‫َوَأْن ُيَثِّبَت يِل ِع ْنَدُكْم َقَدَم ِص ْدٍق‬

wa an yuthabbita li `indakum qadama sidqin
and to make firm step of honesty for me with you

‫يِف ٱلُّدْن ا ٱآلِخ ِة‬

‫َي َو َر‬
fi alddunya wal-akhirati
in this world and in the Hereafter.

‫َأ َأُلُه َأ ِّلَغ ٱ َقا ٱَمْلْح و َلُك ِع ْنَد ٱِهَّلل‬

‫َو ْس ْن ُيَب َيِن َمْل َم ُم َد ْم‬
wa as'aluhu an yuballighani almaqama almahmuda lakum `inda allahi
I also beseech Him to make me attain the praiseworthy status that you enjoy with Allah

‫َوَأْن َيْر ُزَقيِن َط َلَب َثْأِر ي‬

wa an yarzuqani talaba tha'ri
and to bestow upon me with the chance to take my own vengeance

‫َمَع ِإَماِم ُه دًٰى َظ اِه ٍر‬

ma`a imami hudan zahirin
with a leader of true guidance who is (Divinely) sustained

‫ُك‬‫َناِط ٍق ِبٱَحْلِّق ْنِم‬

‫ْم‬
natiqin bilhaqqi minkum
and expressing the truth from among you.

‫ُك‬‫َأ َأُل ٱ َحِبِّق‬

‫َو ْس َهَّلل ْم‬
wa as'alu allaha bihaqqikum
I also beseech Allah in your names

‫ِع‬ ‫ُك‬
‫َل‬ ‫ي‬ ‫ِذ‬
‫َّل‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫ِن‬‫ْأ‬ ‫َوِبٱلَّش‬
‫ْم ْنَدُه‬
wa bilshsha'ni alladhi lakum `indahu
and in the name of the standing that you enjoy with Him

‫ُك‬‫ِب‬ ‫يِب‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َص‬ ‫يِن‬ ‫ِط‬ ‫َأ‬

‫ْم‬
an yu`tiyani bimusabi bikum
‫ْع‬
‫ْن ُي َي ُمِب‬
to recompense me for my commiserations for you

‫َأْفَض َل ا ُيْعِط ي َص ابًا ِص ي ِتِه‬

‫ُم ُمِب َب‬ ‫َم‬
afdala ma yu`ti musaban bimusibatihi
with the most favorite thing that He ever gives as compensation for misfortunes that has afflicted anyone.

‫ُمِص يَبًة َما َأْعَظ َم َها‬

musibatan ma a`zamaha
(Your) misfortune has been so astounding

‫َأْعَظ ِز َّيَتَها يِف ٱِإل َالِم‬

‫ْس‬ ‫َو َم َر‬
wa a`zama raziyyataha fi al-islami
and so catastrophic for Islam

‫يِف ِمَجيِع ٱلَّس ا اِت ٱَألْر ِض‬

‫َم َو َو‬ ‫َو‬
wa fi jami`i alssamawati wal-ardi
and for all the heavens and the entire earth.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْج َعْليِن يِف َمَقاِمي ٰهَذا‬

allahumma ij`alni fi maqami hadha
O Allah, (please) make me in this situation of mine

‫َّمِمْن َتَناُلُه ِمْنَك َص َلَواٌت َوَر َمْحٌة َوَمْغِفَر ٌة‬

mimman tanaluhu minka salawatun wa rahmatun wa maghfiratun
one of those who receive blessings, mercy, and forgiveness from You.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْج َعْل ْحَم اَي ْحَم ا َحُمَّم ٍد آِل َحُمَّم ٍد‬
‫َو‬ ‫َي َي‬
allahumma ij`al mahyaya mahya muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
O Allah, (please) make me live my lifetime in the same way as Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household lived

‫َمَمايِت َمَماَت َحُمَّم ٍد آِل َحُمَّم ٍد‬

‫َو‬
wa mamati mamata muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
‫َو‬
and make me die on the same principles on which Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household died.

‫ْوٌم‬‫َي‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َذ‬‫ٰه‬ ‫َّن‬‫ِإ‬ ‫َّم‬ ‫ُه‬‫َّل‬‫َال‬

allahumma inna hadha yawmun
O Allah, this day

‫َتَّرَبَكْت ِبِه َبُنو ُأَمَّيَة‬

tabarrakat bihi banu umayyata
has been regarded as blessed day by the descendants of Umayyah

‫َوٱْبُن آِكَلِة ٱَألك اِد‬

‫َب‬
wabnu akilati al-akbadi
and by the son of the liver-eater woman,

‫ٱلَّلِعُني ٱْبُن ٱلَّلِعِني‬

alla`inu ibnu alla`ini
the accursed and son of the accursed

‫َعٰىَل ِلَس اِنَك َوِلَس اِن َنِب ِّيَك‬

`ala lisanika wa lisani nabiyyika
by the tongue of You and by the tongue of Your Prophet,

‫َص ٱ َعَل ِه آِلِه‬

‫ٰىَّل ُهَّلل ْي َو‬
salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
Allah’s peace be upon him,

‫َو‬
fi kulli mawtinin wa mawqifin
on every occasion and in every situation,

‫َقَف ِفيِه َنِب ُّيَك َص ٱ َعَل ِه آِلِه‬

‫ٰىَّل ُهَّلل ْي َو‬ ‫َو‬
waqafa fihi nabiyyuka salla allahu `alayhi wa alihi
which Your Prophet, Allah’s peace be upon him, attended.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْلَعْن َأَبا ُس ْفَياَن َوُمَعاِو َيَة َوَيزيَد ْبَن ُمَعاِو َيَة‬
allahumma il`an aba sufyana wa mu`awiyata wa yazida bna mu`awiyata
O Allah, pour curses upon Abu-Sufyan, Mu`awiyah, and Yazid son of Mu`awiyah.

‫ي‬ ‫ِد‬‫ِب‬ ‫آل‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫َد‬‫َعَل ِه ِمْنَك ٱلَّل َنُة َبَأ‬

‫َن‬ ‫ْع‬ ‫ْي ْم‬
`alayhim minka alla`natu abada al-abidina
May Your curse be upon them incessantly and everlastingly.

‫ِه‬
‫َوٰهَذا َيْوٌم َفِر َح ْت ِب آُل ِز َياٍد َوآُل َمْر َواَن‬
wa hadha yawmun farihat bihi alu ziyadin wa alu marwana
This is the day on which the family of Ziyad and the family of Marwan gloated

‫َص َل اُت ٱِهَّلل َعَل ِه‬ ‫ٱ‬ ‫ِه‬‫ِبَقْتِل‬

‫ْي‬ ‫ُم ُحْلَسَنْي َو‬
biqatlihim alhusayna salawatu allahi `alayhi
because they had killed al-Husayn, Allah’s blessings be upon him.

‫َالَّلُهَّم َفَض اِع ْف َعَلْيِهُم ٱلَّلْعَن ِمْنَك‬

allahumma fada`if `alayhim alla`na minka
So, O Allah, pour frequent curses upon them

‫ي‬ ‫) ٱْل َذا (ٱَألِل‬

‫َو َع َب َم‬
wal`adhaba (al-alima)
and double for them the painful chastisement.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ِإيِّن َأَتَقَّر ِإَل َك يِف ٰهَذا ٱْل ِم‬

‫َيْو‬ ‫ُب ْي‬
allahumma inni ataqarrabu ilayka fi hadha alyawmi
O Allah, I do seek nearness to You on this day,

‫َويِف َمْوِقِفي ٰهَذا‬

wa fi mawqifi hadha
on this occasion,

‫َوَأَّياِم َح َيايِت‬
wa ayyami hayati
and on all the days of my lifetime,

‫ِه‬ ‫َل‬ ‫ِبٱْل ا ِة ِمْن ٱلَّل ِة‬

‫َرَب َء ُهْم َو ْعَن ْي ْم‬
‫َع‬
bilbara'ati minhum walla`nati `alayhim
by repudiating these and invoking Your curses upon them,

wa bilmuwalati linabiyyika wa ali nabiyyika

and by declaring loyalty to Your Prophet and Your Prophet’s Household,

‫ٱل‬ ‫ِه‬ ‫ِه‬

‫ُم‬‫َال‬ ‫َّس‬ ‫َعَلْي َوَع ْي ُم‬
‫َل‬
`alayhi wa `alayhim alssalamu
peace be upon him and them.

You may then repeat the following Laan ** one hundred times:

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْلَعْن َأَّو َل َظ اِلٍم‬

allahumma il`an awwala zalimin
O Allah, pour curses upon the foremost persecutor

‫َظ َل َح َّق َحُمَّم ٍد آِل َحُمَّم ٍد‬

‫َو‬
zalama haqqa muhammadin wa ali muhammadin
‫َم‬
who usurped the right of Muhammad and Muhammad’s Household

‫َوآِخ َر َتاِبٍع َلُه َعٰىَل ٰذِلَك‬

wa akhira tabi`in lahu `ala dhalika
and the last follower who acceded to his deed.

‫ٱ‬ ‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْلَعِن ٱْلِعَص اَبَة ٱَّليِت َج اَهَدِت‬

‫ُحْلَسَنْي‬
allahumma il`an al`isabata allati jahadat alhusayna
O Allah, pour curses upon the gang that struggled against al-Husayn

‫َشاَي ْت َباَي ْت َتاَب ْت َع َقْتِلِه‬

‫َو َع َو َع َو َع ٰىَل‬
wa shaya`at wa baya`at wa taba`at `ala qatlihi
and who supported each other against him, paid homage to his enemies, and participated in slaying him.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْلَعْنُهْم ِمَجيعًا‬

allahumma il`anhum jami`an
O Allah, pour curses upon all of them.

You may then repeat the following salam ** one hundred times:

‫َالَّس َال َعَل َك َيا َأَبا َع ِد ٱِهَّلل‬

‫ْب‬ ‫ُم ْي‬
alssalamu `alayka ya aba `abdillahi
Peace be upon you, O Abu-`Abdullah

‫َوَعٰىَل ٱَألْرَواِح ٱَّليِت َح َّلْت ِبِفَناِئَك‬

wa `ala al-arwahi allati hallat bifina'ika
and upon the souls that gathered in your courtyard.

‫َعَلْيَك ِميِّن َس َالُم ٱِهَّلل َأَبدًا‬

`alayka minni salamu allahi abadan
Peace of Allah be upon you from me forever

ma baqitu wa baqiya allaylu walnnaharu

as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.

‫ُك‬ ‫َال َج َلُه ٱ آِخ َر ٱْل ْهِد ِميِّن ِلِز َيا ِت‬
‫َر ْم‬ ‫َع‬ ‫َو َع ُهَّلل‬
wa la ja`alahu allahu akhira al`ahdi minni liziyaratikum
May Allah not cause this (visit) to be the last of my visit to you (all).

‫َالَّس َالُم َعٰىَل ٱُحْلَس ِنْي‬

alssalamu `ala alhusayni
Peace be upon al-Husayn,

‫َوَعٰىَل َعِلِّي ْبِن ٱُحْلَس ِنْي‬

wa `ala `aliyyi bni alhusayni
upon `Ali ibn al-Husayn,

‫َوَعٰىَل َأْوَالِد ٱُحْلَس ِنْي‬

wa `ala awladi alhusayni
upon the sons of al-Husayn,

‫َوَعٰىَل َأْص َح اِب ٱُحْلَس ِنْي‬

wa `ala ashabi alhusayni
and upon the companions of al-Husayn.

You may then say the following words:

‫َالَّلُهَّم ُخَّص َأْنَت َأَّو َل َظ اِلٍم ِبٱلَّلْعِن ِميِّن‬

allahumma khussa anta awwala zalimin billa`ni minni
O Allah, pour special curses on the foremost persecutor

‫َوٱْبَدْأ ِبِه َأَّو اًل‬

wabda' bihi awwalan
and begin with him first,

‫ُثَّم ٱْلَعِن ٱلَّثاَيِن ٱلَّثاِلَث ٱلَّر ا َعِب‬

‫َو‬ ‫َو‬
thumma il`an alththaniya walththalitha walrrabi`a
and then pour curses on the second, the third, and the fourth.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْلَعْن َيِز يَد َخ اِم سًا‬

allahumma il`an yazida khamisan
O Allah, curse Yazid fifthly,

‫َوٱْلَعْن ُعَبْيَد ٱِهَّلل ْبَن ِز َياٍد َوٱْبَن َمْر َج اَنَة‬

wal`an `ubaydallahi bna ziyadin wabna marjanata
and curse `Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad, the son of Marjanah,

‫َوُع َمَر ْبَن َس ْعٍد َوْمِشرًا‬

wa `umara bna sa`din wa shimran

`Umar ibn Sa`d, Shimr,

‫ا‬ ‫َمْر‬ ‫َل‬ ‫آ‬ ‫ٍد‬ ‫ا‬‫َي‬ ‫ِز‬ ‫َل‬ ‫آ‬ ‫ا‬ ‫ْف‬ ‫آَل َأ‬
‫يِب‬
‫َو َو َن‬ ‫ُس َي َن َو‬
wa ala abi sufyana wa ala ziyadin wa ala marwana
‫َو‬
the family of Abu-Sufyan, the family of Ziyad, and the family of Marwan

‫ِإ َي ِم ٱْلِق ا ِة‬

‫ٰىَل ْو َي َم‬
ila yawmi alqiyamati
up to the Resurrection Day.

You may then prostrate yourself and say the following words meanwhile:

‫َالَّلُهَّم َلَك ٱَحْلْم ُد‬

allahumma laka alhamdu
O Allah, all praise be to You;

‫ِري‬ ‫ِك‬
‫ْمَحَد ٱلَّش ا َن َك َعٰىَل ُمَص ْم‬
‫ِبِه‬ ‫ا‬ ‫َل‬
hamda alshshakirina laka `ala musabihim
the praise of those who thank You for their misfortunes.

‫َاَحْلْم ُد ِهَّلِل َع َعِظ يِم َر ِز َّييِت‬

‫ٰىَل‬
alhamdu lillahi `ala `azimi raziyyati
All praise be to Allah for my great misfortune.

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْر ُزْقيِن َشَفاَعَة ٱ ِنْي َيْو ٱْل وِد‬

‫ُحْلَس َم ُوُر‬
allahumma irzuqni shafa`ata alhusayni yawma alwurudi
O Allah, (please) grant me the intercession of al-Husayn on the Day of Coming (to You)

‫َوَثِّبْت يِل َقَدَم ِص ْدٍق ِع ْنَدَك‬

wa thabbit li qadama sidqin `indaka
and make for me with You a firm step of honesty

‫َمَع ٱُحْلَس ِنْي َوَأْص َح اِب ٱُحْلَس ِنْي‬

ma`a alhusayni wa ashabi alhusayni
with al-Husayn and the companions of al-Husayn

‫َال‬ ‫َّس‬ ‫ٱل‬ ‫ٱَّلذيَن َبَذُلوٱ َهَجُه و ٱ ِنْي َعَل ِه‬

‫ُم‬ ‫ُم ْم ُد َن ُحْلَس ْي‬
alladhina badhalu muhajahum duna alhusayni
who sacrificed their souls in defense of al-Husayn, peace be upon him.

**One of the narrations state that in case one is unable to recite 100 times the complete "Laan " & the
"Sawlaat" the one may recite the last lines of the same 100 times as under:

‫َالَّلُهَّم ٱْلَعْنُهْم ِمَجيعًا‬

allahumma il`anhum jami`an
O Allah, pour curses upon all of them.

and

‫َالَّس َالُم َعٰىَل ٱُحْلَس ِنْي‬

‪Hadith for shorter form of laan and salwat‬‬

‫آیت‌اهلل سّید عیل موّح د ابطیح در پاوریق کتاب «شفاء الّص دور یف شرح زیارت العاشور» نوشته‌اند آیت‬
‫اهلل حاج مریزا ابوالفضل طهراین (متویف ‪ )۱۳۱۶‬روایت شریف زیر را در شیوه خواندن زیارت عاشورا نقل‬

‪:‬یم‌منایند‬
‫

‪َ:‬عْن َعِّیِل ْبِن َحُمَّم ٍد اهْلادی علیِه الِّس الُم َاَّنُه قاَل‬
‫

‪َ:‬مْن َقَر َء َلْعَن ِز یاَر ِه اْلعاُش وراء اَمْلشُهوَر ِه َمَّر ًه واِح َدًه ُثَّم قاَل‬
‫

الّلُهَّم اْلَعْنُهْم مَج یعًاِتْس عًاَو ِتْس عَنی َمَّر ًه» کان َکَمْن َقَر َئُه ِمأَه َمَّر ًه؛«‬
‫َو َمْن َقَر َء َس الَمها َمَّر ًه واِح َدًه ُثَّم قاَل‪« :‬الَّس الُم َعیَل اُحْلَس ِنْی ‪َ ،‬و َعیَل َعِّیِل ْبِن اُحْلَس ِنْی ‪َ ،‬و َعیَل َاْوالِد اُحْلَس ِنْی ‪ ،‬و َعیَل‬
‫

َاْص حاِب اُحْلَس ِنْی ِتْس عًاَو ِتْس عَنی َمَّر ًه» کاَن َکَمْن َقَر َئُه ُمأًه تاَّمًه ِمْن َاَّو ِهِلما ِایَل آِخ ِر مِه ا‪۱.‬‬

‪:‬سپس آیه اهلل موّح د ابطیح در توضیح روایت چننی یم‌فرمایند‬

‫

‪َ:‬و َقْد ُذِک َر هِل ِذ ِه الِّر واَیِه ِاْح ِتماالِن‬

‫

‪.‬ـ َاْن َیکُو َن «ِتْس عًاَو ِتْس عَنی َمَّر ًه» َبیانًاِلَعَدد ‪۱‬‬
‫ـ َاْن َیکُو َن َتِتَّم ًه ِلَّلْعِن َو الَّس الِم ‪َ ،‬و َعَلْیِه ُیْقَر ُء هَکذا‪« :‬الّلُهَّم الـَعْنُهْم مَج یعًاِتْس عًاَو ِتسعَنی َمَّر ًه» َو یِف اَّلسالِم ‪۲‬‬
‫ع‬ ‫َیق ‪« :‬الَّس ال َعیَل ا ِنْی َعیَل َعِّیِل ْبِن ا ِنْی َعیَل َا الِد ا ِنْی َعیَل َا حاِب ا ِنْی ِت عًا ِت‬
‫ُحْلَس ْس َو ْس َنی‬ ‫ُحْلَس َو ْو ُحْلَس َو ْص‬ ‫ُم ُحْلَس َو‬ ‫ُو ُل‬

َّر ًه» َیُک و َنظ الَّتهلیالِت اْلواِر ِه یف َا اِم ِذی ا َّج ِه‪« :‬ال ِالَه ِاّال اهلل َد الّلیایل الُّدُه ور»‪ ،‬ا اْلعاِل‬
