Using your textbook, define the following personality disorders: antisocial personality disorder,
borderline personality disorder, and narcissistic personality disorder. Now that you understand
the definitions, which one would be the most difficult to live with as a parent, spouse, or sibling
and why.
Instructions: Your response should be written using proper English spelling and grammar (no text
language or abbreviations) and should have between 8-10 complete sentences. In addition you
need to respond to two of your fellow students with a response of 2-3 complete sentences.
POST
People with antisocial personality disorder have no consideration for the moral and ethical rules
of society or others. They can seem quite knowledgeable and personable in the beginning, but
they turn out to be dishonest and malicious when you get to know them better, they have no
shame or remorse over their misconduct. A person with an antisocial personality disorder will
realize psychologically when they have hurt someone, but they do not feel remorse. Those with
borderline personality disorder have difficulties in creating a stable understanding of who they
are; as a result, they typically rely on relationships with others to establish their identity. People
with this disorder become mistrustful of others and experience problems controlling their rage.
Their emotional fragility causes impulsive and self-destructive behavior. Those with a
narcissistic personality disorder expect special treatment from others while they ignore the
emotions of others and are unable to show empathy for them. I think it would be extremely
difficult to live with a narcissist. Having to sift through constant lies and deception sounds like a
hell of a task, not to mention that they can actually become dangerous.
