ABSTRACT

CHAPTER 1
BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Introduction
 It introduces the study and signifies its importance to create an interest and intense desire of the reader
to know more about the investigation.
 This is the preliminary part of the problem, leading to its main parts and objectives.
 It may include legal or other basis related to or for conducting the study

Suggested Guidelines in Writing the Introduction

1. The first paragraph is intended to provide the readers a mental readiness, thus giving them the information as
to what the problem of research is all about. It introduces the study and its justifications.
Ex. Liqour is also known as alcohol dependence and is considered as disease with symptoms such as
cravings or feeling of strong urge to drink; loss of control of not being able to stoponce drinking has
begun; physical dependence such as nausea, sweating, shakiness and anxiety; and tolerance or drinking
greater amounts of alcohol to “get high”.
2. The second paragraph carries the greater part of the introduction and the problem that is used as frame of
reference. It tells the readers the scope, circumstances coverage of the study.
Ex.Drinking liqour is widely consumed in the Philippines. One reason for this maybe that the Spanish

colonizers not only brought with them the Roman Catholic Religion but also their drinking culture.
3. The third paragraph revolves around the various conditions that accompany and determine the purpose of the
study.
Ex. Drinking liqour is the most prevalent and widely used drugs by teens and has consistently held this
position. The widespread use of alcohol by young people has been a cause of increasing public
concern due to the potential for its direct effect on the health of the youths, as well as to the threat to
the public safety that results from the practice of driving while intoxicated.
4. The last paragraph is a sort of closing portion that arouses the curiousity and interest of the readers to know
the results of the study.
Ex. In order to promote their brands advertisers create messages with a number of common themes and
appeals that may affect the basic attitudes and behaviors, especialaly among younger audiences.
Content analysis studies show that the character in ads are typically depicted as youthful, physically
attractive, upper middle class, successful, sphisticated, elegant, happy, and adventurous ( Garlington
1997)

problem that will be addressed.

research variables, if a quantitative study, are identified, for instance, independent, dependent,
comparisons, relationships, or other variables. The population that will be used is identified, whether it
will be randomly or purposively chosen, and the location of the study is summarized.

knowledge, and is related to improving the human condition. The contribution to the body of knowledge
is described, and summarizes who will be able to use the knowledge to make better decisions, improve
policy, advance science, or other uses of the new information. The “new” data is the information used to
fill the gap in the knowledge.

implied that the more observation of meditated drinking may increase the observer;s tendency to drink.

Conceptual Framework

Scope and Limitations of the Study

Scope
 is the extent of the study and contains measurements. In a qualitative study this would include
the number of participants, the geographical location, and other pertinent numerical data. In a
quantitative study the size of the elements of the experiment are cited.
Limitations
 are those things over which the research has no control.

Scope and Limitations of the study

This study was conducted in Sitio Punta, Barangay Poblacion, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro composed
of 72 respondents youth. It dealt primarily with determining the effect of drinking liquor among youth. This
study was conducted from August to Dec 2015.

Definition of Terms
 It is written for knowledgeable peers, not people from other disciplines As such, it is not the place to fill
pages with definitions that knowledgeable peers would know at a glance. Instead, define terms that may
have more than one meaning among knowledgeable peers
 The terms should be substantially and clearly defined according to how they are utilized in the study in
order to facilitate understanding of the problem.

CHAPTER II

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE AND STUDIES.

 It is an activity in the research process related to the research problem.
 The literature and studies both foriegn and local which have significant bearing on the present study is
important.
 It is also important to mention or cite an existing theory that can be used to help explain the problem.

Steps in a Literature Review

1. Search preliminary sources- Identify books, articles, professional journals and other publications that are
relevant to the problem

2. Use secondary sources-These can be found in other researches by other researchers that have written
reviews of literature that may be relevant to your study

3. Read primary sources- it is adocument that can be found in masteral thesis, dissertations or journal article
written by other researchers
4. Synthesis of the Literature- the researcher will write the synthesis about the relevance of the primary and
secondary sources of the reviewed literature to current study.
