ST Cecilia CLASSICAL GUITAR Syllabus: Performance Examination
ST Cecilia CLASSICAL GUITAR Syllabus: Performance Examination
INTRODUCTION
The St. Cecilia Classical Guitar examinations are available from Beginner through
to Grade Eight levels. Each grade has been designed to move comfortably from
one level to another ensuring that all techniques and styles of music are covered.
The nature of a Performance Examination is such that the pieces chosen for
examination purposes are equally suitable for performance at Concerts,
Masterclasses and Eisteddfods etc. We hope therefore that the syllabus has more
than one purpose.
Unique to the St. Cecilia Examination system is the Own Choice Item 4 section.
Considerable scope is allowed here. Candidates are even encouraged tocompose
their own piece if they so desire. Credit will be given to a good choice and all
examiners will look forward to an imaginative selection of pieces.
Students who follow the St. Cecilia course Classical Guitar Examinations will not
only enjoy the challenge of attaining the various grade levels, but will also be
thoroughly prepared to contribute to the amateur or even professional music-
making in our country.
