Statement of purpose

Introduction and academics:

I, Gurkaranpreet Singh, would first of all like to express my sincere thanks to you for my application
perusal. Through this statement of purpose, I would like to give brief personal details, academic details
and would like to state the reasons to choose this country and this specific course of study. I was born on
03/08/2001 to parents Charnjit Singh (father) and Parmjit Kaur (mother). I am an Indian citizen and hail
from Fatehgarh Sahib, in the state of Punjab. I hold a valid Indian passport with number U5407260.

Academically, I have completed my secondary school education from Punjab school education board in
2018. In 2020, I have completed my senior secondary school education from the same board. I see
myself as optimistic, enthusiastic and hardworking student. Since childhood, I am ambitious about
higher education that would give desired push to my career. I have a dream to pursue my further
education from Australia. To gain admission in Australian college, I prepared myself for IELTS exam and
appeared for the same. I secured an overall band score of 6 with 7.5 in listening, 5.5 in reading, 5.5 in
writing and 6 in speaking.

Sponsorship of my education:

The entire array of expenses to be incurred in Australia on education or stay will be taken care of by my
parents. They are financially well- off and have sufficient funds of around 18 lakhs. I can dedicatedly
focus on my education without worrying about my potential expenditure to be incurred in Australia.

Why Australia for higher education?

Excellence in education:

In addition to being highly intensive in terms of knowledge imparted to the students, Australian
universities also incorporate the latest innovations, technological advances and current trends in the
industry to ensure that their programs meet the highest education standards. The emphasis is on
making education practical to meet the demands of the industry.

Globally recognised degrees:

Degrees from Australian universities are recognized and highly valued by companies and other
educational institutes across the world. As a result of this, Australia is an exceedingly popular
destination for international students and currently has around 2.5 million international students.

Affordability:

Most courses in Australia are designed to be shorter but are packed with an educational punch. Students
learn plenty from their programs, which delve intensively into the coursework. As a result of these
shortened programs, Australian universities tend to be a lot cheaper than those offered by their
counterparts in other popular education destinations. Living expenses in Australia are also far more
reasonable when compared to the UK or US.

Diversity in culture and society:

Among the most culturally diverse cultures in the world, Australia is home to people from around 200
countries. The country has a reputation for being safe, friendly, quite laid-back and peaceful.
International students are readily accepted by their fellow students and professors.

Why not India for higher education?

The overall standard of Indian education doesn't seem to have improved much over the years to
compare with the educational facilities offered in developed countries. The practical application of
theoretical concepts is still lacking in a large segment of Indian classrooms. Students are spoon-fed and
have to put up with rote learning as the educational system largely continues to follow the conventional
school teaching methods. Lecturers fail to make the classes interesting, which can be brought alive
through adopting an interactive approach and use of modern technology. As the conventional teaching
system continues in many schools and colleges, students don't enjoy the privilege or the freedom to
experiment. The Indian degrees are not much recognized globally. In job market, Indian degrees are
given lesser value as compared to other nations. The biggest drawback that the Indian Educational sector
has is reservation of seats for backward classes. This leaves general category students with lesser
number of seats in reputed colleges. The Indian education system judge students based on their
academic record and not on the general presentation.
