LYDIAN

Performance Notes

This is an example of a C lydian progression.

Here is how I built the progression. C lydian comes from the key of G major. The chords derived from G major are as follows.
1 G major
2 A minor
3 B minor
4 C major
5 D major
6 E minor
7 F# diminished

By extending the harmony you get

1 G major7
2 A minor7
3 B minor7
4 C major7
5 D dominant7
6 E minor7
7 F# half diminished (minor7 bfive)

You take the mode you want which in this example we are using lydian and use that as your root note. Since lydian is based off the fourth
degree of the major scale that would be the C note.
Stack the 4 chord over C which is C major triad over C ( CM/C).
Stack the 5 chord over C which is D major triad over C (DM/C).
Play those chords consecutively so that you are playing the 4 chord to the 5 chord over C.
The basic formula for building modal progressions is that you take the root note of the mode you want and play the 4 and 5 chord over that
root note.
