Answer 1 As the manager of Blue Healer Cafe, it is my responsibility to ensure the health and
safety of the employees. I will implement and monitor the safety practices from time to time in
the workplace.
2. Answer 2 The employees should be trained effectively to review the documents.
3. Answer 3 The handouts are related to company legislation and norms, identification of risks and
hazards in the workplace and suggesting ways to mitigate them, and emphasizes the WHS
consultation and communication.
4. Answer 4 I will conduct an inspection of the meeting room to find out possible hazards and
execute procedures to mitigate the risks involved. I will suggest corrective measures to prevent
risks in the future.
5. Answer 5 The WHS procedures on safe practices in the workplace and the result post the hazard
inspection in the kitchen are mentioned in the handouts. The employees are even inquired
about the WHS requirements in training to perform their duties effectively.
6. Answer 6 After the employees have suggested the required training to improve their work
performance, the necessary actions have to be implemented without any delay.

Purpose
To outline the necessary steps taken to ensure the continued safety of the work environment for all
clients, staff and others participating in any activities within the premises or under the employment of Blue
Healer.
Statement of Commitment
Blue Healer is committed to providing a workplace that enables all work activities to be carried out safely.
We will take all reasonably practicable measures to eliminate or minimise risks to the health, safety and
welfare of workers, contractors, visitors, and anyone else who may be affected by our operations.
We are committed to ensuring we comply with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (the Act). We will
also comply with any other relevant legislation, applicable Codes of Practice and Australian Standards as
far as possible.
Blue Healer’s WHS Policies and Procedures set out the safety arrangements and principles which are to
be observed by and its workers to ensure compliance with the WHS Act and to provide appropriate
mechanisms for continuing consultation and management of WHS matters.
It sets out how Blue Healer will establish and maintain adequate facilities to ensure the welfare of its
employees and guests.
Policy
3. Staff responsibility
3.1 All staff including managers have a responsibility to work safely; take all reasonable care for
their own health and safety; and always consider the health and safety of others who may be
affected by their actions.
3.2 When staff are undertaking work from home or at an off-site location, the staff member is
responsible for ensuring the environment they enter into is free from risk and occupational
health and safety hazards.
4. Reporting
4.1 All staff, and others are required to report any identified workplace hazards and associated risks
as soon as they become aware of them.
4.2 All staff, and others are required to report any incident that causes harm to a person during their
participation in work and/or training activities with Blue Healer.
4.3 A yearly internal audit, carried out by the Operations Manager should include:
A summary of WHS issues encountered by staff, clients and contractors over the year
The extent to which objectives and targets have been met
Summarise the results of the annual staff WHS questionnaire
Any recommendations for changes to be made to the WHS Policy and Procedures.
5. Records
5.1 Appropriate records of the organisation’s risk management strategy, workplace hazards and
workplace injuries will be accurately maintained at all times on the staff intranet in the WHSMS
folder.
Purpose
The purpose of this WHS Plan is to provide a framework for the introductions of a new WHS Management
System at Blue Healer. It should provide clarity on what activities are to be undertake, and by when.
Workers must take reasonable care for their own health and safety while they are at work and take
reasonable care that their acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other
persons. They must comply, so far as they are reasonably able, with any reasonable instruction given by
the WHS Officer, as well as co-operating with any reasonable policy or procedure which relates to
workplace health and safety.
Employees should:
(a) be involved in the development, implementation and review of policies and procedures for hazard
identification, hazard/risk assessment and control of hazards/risks;
(b) be consulted where there are any changes that affect workplace WHS;
(c) select those who will represent them on WHS matters; and
(d) be informed as to who is/are their employee WHS representative(s) and specified management
representative(s).
Those representing the employees and employer shall receive appropriate training to undertake
effectively their involvement in the development, implementation and review of WHS arrangements
Open communication between workers and managers is important to ensuring a safe workplace.
Therefore, workers are encouraged to:
ask questions relating to WHS
bring up safety concerns
make recommendations regarding WHS
give regular feedback
become involved in evaluation of safety issues
participate in any WHS related problem-solving process.
It is important that workers help shape decisions about WHS particularly when:
identifying hazards and assessing risks
making decisions about ways to eliminate or minimise those hazards or risks
proposing business changes that may affect the health and safety of workers
purchasing of new equipment or substances
developing or changing job tasks or safety procedures.
All workers are encouraged to raise any work health and safety concerns they may have with their
manager and/or Health and Safety Representative.
If the issue identified remains unresolved, it should be raised directly with the Operations Manager.
Measurement and Evaluation
The organisation shall establish, implement and maintain documented procedures to monitor and
measure on a regular basis the key characteristics of its operations and activities that can cause illness
and injury. The effectiveness of these measures shall be evaluated.
Where a failure in the WHS Management System is identified, this should be reported directly to the
Operations Manager.
WHS audit
A yearly internal audit, carried out by the Operations Manager should include:

Management review
The business’s senior management should review the WHSMS annually, to ensure its continuing
suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
This review will be based on the WHS audit carried out by the Operations Manager.

All necessary resources can be developed in-house.
Staff time for training and hazard inspections can be absorbed into scheduled work time

procedures. It shows that all employees understand the obligations under WHS policies and
procedures. 3. All employees are trained to use the Risk Assessment Checklist (HIC), which
includes risk assessments. All meetings and shows are pre-filled before the HIC is filled. The
completed HIC will be completed by the leaders and moderators of each conference.
