    PURPOSE: To inform the field of a new one-piece outboard thrust washer for replacing the
    three-piece set.

    DESCRIPTION:

    Some wheel motors may exhibit signs of sun pinion to steel washer scuffing. A new outboard thrust
    washer arrangement has been developed to prevent this from occurring. The original arrangement con-
    sisted of three outboard thrust washers. A bronze washer was sandwiched between two steel washers, as
    shown in Figure 1. The new arrangement consists of a single bronze washer and can be used to replace
    the three-piece arrangement.
    Komatsu recommends installing the new washer at the next available opportunity. Refer to Table 1 for
    thrust washer part number information.
