CORE VALUES
The late Dr. Bienvenido P. Agpaoa became the first University President until October 1988. He was
succeeded in February 1989 by Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, former president of the Cagayan State University.
Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. is currently the DMMMSU President. At present, the University is sprawled on a
1,120 hectares, cozily splintered in its three major campuses: North La Union Campus (Bacnotan and
Balaoan towns), Mid La Union Campus (San Fernando) and the South La Union Campus (Agoo, Sto.
Tomas, and Rosario towns).
DMMMSU SEAL
TORCH – represents instruction for the individual’s physical, mental, and spiritual development.
MICROSCOPE – represents the research program of the university. TRACTOR – indicates extension
activities that will promote economic development.
FIVE (5) YELLOW RINGS – indicates the five (5) institutions that originally comprised the university.
TWELVE (12) GREEN VALLEYS/EDGES OF THE SEAL – indicates the urban service areas of the university
committed for its development on a yearround.

President’s Profile
Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. graduated from DMMMSU CAF Elementary School, DMMMSU-CAF Agri-Science
High School, and finished his Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Engineering from DMMMSU-
NLUC in 1991. Dr. Manuel was the President of DMMMSU University Student Council from 1989-1990.
He finished his Master of Science in Rural Community Development degree in 2004, and his Doctor of
Philosophy in Agricultural Education degree, from DMMMSU-NLUC in 2007. Before working in the
academia, he worked as a Farm Technician and he subsequently served as Agriculturist I in the National
Tobacco Administration from 1991-1992. He also served as an elected member of the Sangguniang
Bayan of Bacnotan, La Union, for 9 years (1992-2001). Dr. Manuel has also represented DMMMSU-NLUC
in several international conferences and trainings in Canada, New Zealand, Indonesia, India, Thailand,
Singapore, and Taiwan. On February 8, 2019, he was officially appointed as the President of the Don
Mariano Marcos Memorial State University.
