AGS-20L
New Modular System

AGS-20L is the new modular system based on SM-OS platform

Power Module

- There are two power modules

- Each power module is dimensioned to power the whole
IDU
- On each power module is present “OR circuit” in order to
sum the power and for protection/redundancy.
- Each module is provided of temperature sensor of ingress
air.
- Each module is provided of a circuit for a remote power
off/on. This is an extreme measure to get out of situations
of “blocking" with a remote command. Same command is
available on the panel for local access

Fan Module

-There are 2 FANs modules each with 3 FANs.

-The speed of the FANs is controlled through a PWM at
25KHz. PWM command come from the Core module (one for
each core) and acts in parallel on the three FANs. FAN module
select the PWM from the active core, in case both Core are
active, the preferential is selected.
-Each FAN has a speedometer to read the speed and report it
on the Core.
- FAN module indicate his presence and the “type” through 2
dedicated signal towards the core.
- FAN 2 module needed incase Slot 5, 6, 7 & 8 provisioned
with a module’s.

Core Ethernet Module

- There are 2 Core Module.

- In the Core Module there are:
-System Controller,
-Ethernet platform (switch and aggregator),
-synchronization unit (Sets, IEEE1588, etc)
-Ethernet platform is based on a Broadcom Switch “Katana2”
-System controller is based on a dual-core NXP Freescale
i.MX6DL.
-The Core Module is a transit node for Ethernet and PWE3
traffic. It is not interested for TDM native traffic.
-The two Core Module can work as a Hot-Standby protection.

Core Ethernet Module

-The Core Module learn where is insert through 3 signals wired

on the backplane
-The Core is able to access to all others modules for their
control and supervision through “Control Plane” based on a
dedicate Fast Ethernet connections
-Each Core has a dedicate signal to communicate to each
others module its state (Active/Not Active).
-The Core has a dedicated signal to each LIM/RIM in order to
switch on/off

Line Interface Module - LIM

-There are 2 LIM module for each IDU. They are the module
where the physical Line interconnection ETH/TDM are
proposed.
-LIM Module could be, pure ETH, pure TDM or mixed.
-ETH connectivity (PWE3 included) of the LIM is only directed
to the Core.
-TDM connectivity transit from LIM to RIM or form LIM to LIM.
- The LIM Module learn where is insert through 3 signals
wired on the backplane.

INTERNAL USE ONLY

Line Interface Module – LIM

- The LIM have a duplicated control plane in order to connect

the module to both Core Module(Active/Standby).
- A small serial-Flash memory will store the calibration data of
the card
- Switch on/off of the LIM module is managed from the Core

Radio Interface Module - RIM

-Up to 4 RIM module are expected. They are an interface to the

ODU.
- We will have different RIM Module: - RIM-2 up to 2 IF - DRI-
XG with 1 XG-ETH interface and POE. It will be used for
connection with 80HDx - DRI-2 with 2 ETH+POE interfaces
- RIM modules have a redundant TDM connections to LIM and
ETH connection to Core. They also have a mutual connections in
order to realize 1+1 protection between different RIM.
- RIM Module declares its presence and the “type” through 4
dedicated wire to Core.
- The RIM Module learn where is insert through 3 signals wired
on the backplane. - Control Plane is duplicated and interconnect
all RIM and both Core

Backplane

- It is passive element less then Inventory of the chassis.

- The version of the PCS backplane is reported to the Core
via 4 dedicated signals.
- Each slot is codificated with 3 bits so that each module can
understand in which slot is inserted.
