Ways through which tourism unites us all
Drake Quoted “Sometimes it’s the journey that teaches you a lot about your destination”.
It is the journey from which you learn more about your aspirations. The experience is very much
valuable for it molds you and sparks an ember of passion and interest towards your goals. There
is a Journey that starts at any point of time, from and to numerous venues around the world.
Many destinations such as exhibitions, monuments and alike are, planned for the curious minds
who prepare to explore them. Each destination is unique in its own way, which has its own
culture, past and sentiments which binds its own character. The Circulation of people outside
their homelands for short duration is Tourism. It teaches us many skills which are an asset to us
and have an effect of a lifetime in some cases. It exposes us to many different ideas and
changes our way of how we see things, like when we meet new, different and interesting people.

There is an exchange of ideas and we each change the other’s perspective. The experience of
the journey from its lows to its highs brings happiness in our life. We meet many people in our
journey who influence us. It not only establishes and strengthens our identities. But also helps
preserve the cultural heritage, with culture as an instrument it facilitates harmony and
understanding among people. Tourism is a driver of peace, it promotes tolerance of people,
where they empathize, learn and respect each other’s culture. It helps us eradicate from
stereotypes. We are sometimes blinded by fake news intended to divide us, but once we visit the
venue and explore its communities, it could completely shatter the stereotypes that blinded us
and an obstacle which divided us. Tourism does not only affects the region but has an overall
positive impact on a nation. Economically it attracts investments and funds which are used to
conserve the sites, and make it better by improving transportation, security and increase in
literacy rates which is a huge deal and also connects us internationally. I speak from my own
experience from my journey to heaven on earth-Kashmir.

I was earlier convinced by fake news that Kashmir was a hostile place because of the religious
conflicts and international border disputes in the past. But, when I went there I found peace
among the people and it completely shattered my beliefs of Kashmir; not only were the people
very collaborative but also kind, compassionate and understanding who respected each other’s
religious beliefs. Despite knowing its painful past the journey of realization of cooperation and
peace brought me happiness. I was impressed on how well its culture was preserved and
identities maintained. There I met people who had completely different perspective of life and
after amazing conversations it changed my perspective towards many things and I believe it also
changed theirs. It changed my overall beliefs and shaped my character. The change I witnessed
from what I had previously assumed shattered the fake news that initially made me nervous. The
pandemic has negatively affected the entire tourism industry and fewer budgets mean fewer
maintenance of infrastructure which affects the site negatively and also the nature. Tourism is
based on the environment. It not only just binds man together but man and nature as well.

Firstly it creates awareness of the suffering that man has brought to nature and sensitizes us to
take action. Nature and wildlife is protected and nurtured by the tourism industry. When the
demands of the local people are not met by tourism they turn to unethical and actions that harm
the nature like poaching, hunting, fishing, etc. The way forward is to balance the tourism industry to
meet the needs of locals such that it doesn’t affect the site the economic inflow of money to sustain
meeting their fundamental needs and also make sure that nature can also heal. Thus, it can be
said that tourism is not the unifying factor between man but also the unifier of man and nature.
Tourism is important because it joins nature and man, our minds; changes our outlook towards
positivity and a bringer of peace, harmony and understanding which unites us all.
