1. PURPOSE
The purpose of this program is to define roles and responsibilities and process of
Loading, Unloading and Transportation of heavy equipment.

3. SCOPE
The scope of this program is to define and establish methodologies for safe
Loading, Unloading and Transportation of heavy equipment’s. Br. CAT and its Sub-
contractor shall ensure that transportation, Loading & Unloading of heavy
equipment’s is being carried out as per Saudi Aramco requirements.
4. RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure all heavy equipment operators are qualified and having valid SAG
license, SA certificate or 3rd party certificate with them.
Ensure all equipment operator undergo Heavy Equipment training in Br.
CAT training room.
HSE MANAGER
EQUIPMENT INSPECTOR
Heavy Equipment operator and trailer driver shall comply with rules and
regulation of Br. CAT, Saudi Aramco, and Saudi Government.
Shall be responsible for filling daily inspection checklist prior to commence of
work.

5. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
Br. CAT will ensure that all mechanical equipment provided is maintained in good
condition. All moving parts of any equipment will be securely guarded to prevent
access to these parts by persons working on or passing through the WORKS site.

Prior to start transporting operation, ensure that all the covers, doors and the
articulation points on the heavy equipment have articulated lock frames to
prevent all sorts of possible articulations that can take place during the
transit.
Turn off the engine and battery of trailer prior to lower or being down the
attachment of heavy equipment to the floor of the vehicle.
All the tie downs must be placed in the rear and front tie-down positions.
Ensure that the recommended connection and securement points to
minimize the damage and maximize effectiveness.
Wedges, cradles, chocks, and other means must be placed in from of and
behind each track or wheel for preventing any rolling and shifting of the
heavy equipment.
Verify pressure of the heavy equipment’s tires (if applicable) to prevent
loosening of the tie-downs. It is recommended that you refer the manual
provided by the owner for proper tire pounds of pressure.
Carry out a thorough inspection of the tie-down equipment and the points
that are used for securing the equipment. Ensure all the pins and connection
points are secure, and all the hooks are functional.
Daily equipment inspection should be carried out by crane operator.
Area of loading and unloading should be barricaded.

Pre-Mobilization Inspection:
All heavy equipment’s shall be inspected by Br. CAT equipment inspector prior to
mobilization. Initial Vehicle and Truck Inspection checklist shall be filled and signed
by inspector. No equipment to be mobilize at site without meeting the requirement.
Trailer/lowbed ramps shall be inspected as per manufacturer specification.
Periodic Inspection:

The equipment department shall ensure all project heavy equipment of Br. CAT
and Sub-contractor are having valid 3rd party and Br. CAT inspection sticker on
them.
Maintenance:
All loading and Unloading of Heavy Equipment shall be performed with valid
work permit and shall be ensured by transportation team leader prior to start
the activity.
Work permit for critical activities shall be signed by SAPMT representatives.
SA Hot Work permit shall be obtained as per (GI 2.100) for Loading and
Unloading of Heavy Equipment in restricted area.
Br. CAT internal work permit system shall be used in non-restricted area.
Work permit issuer and receiver shall inspect the site prior to fill the permit
form.
HSE officer shall ensure permit requirements are fulfilled and all supporting
documents are available at work location prior to counter signing the permit.
Heavy equipment transportation team leader shall conduct toolbox talk with
involved personnel.
Permit issuer and receiver shall close the work permit after completion of the
job.

Exclusion zone principle is to divide the Loading and Unloading area into
2 zones. Each zone must be clearly identified and communicated to all
involved personnel.

RED ZONE
GREEN ZONE
Area where involved persons can stand during loading and unloading
process. Green zone should also be marked and communicated to all
involved personnel. The position of green zone also varies based on type
of equipment and process of loading and unloading.

Br. CAT will ensure all involved personnel in loading and unloading of equipment
understand their responsibilities. Only trained, competent and certified personnel
shall execute the job.
